Smiths, The - Is It Really So Strange? Lyrics
I left the North
I travelled South
I found a tiny house
And I can't help the way I feel
Oh yes, you can kick me
And you can break my face
But you won't change the way I feel
'Cause I love you
Oh...
And is it really so strange?
Oh, is it really so strange?
Oh, is it really so, really so strange?
I say NO, you say YES
(and you will change your mind)
I left the South
I travelled North
I got confused - I killed a horse
I can't help the way I feel
Oh yes, you can punch me
And you can butt me
And you can break my spine
But you won't change the way I feel
'Cause I love you
Oh...
And is it really so strange?
Oh, is it really so strange?
Oh, is it really so, really so strange?
I say NO, you say YES
(But you will change your mind)
I left the North again
I travelled South again
And I got confused - I killed a nun
I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I FEEL
I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I FEEL
I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I FEEL
(I lost my bag in Newport Pagnell)
Why is the last mile the hardest mile?
My throat was dry, with the sun in my eyes
And I realised, I realised
I could never
I could never, never, never, go back home again

GIRL IN PIECES 💔
Con el x1.25 se escucha mejor
Yeah, blasting through a walkman . on the bus with no idea what to do with my life. Smith's were so cool.
two guitars here, i guess gannon was in the band at this time. sounds good
Marr played both the lead and rhythm guitars on all the Smiths albums. They were recorded and then mixed together for the final cut on the records. Craig Gannon played rhythm guitar on live gigs.....
@Mike Quintanilla yes i know, but this is from a peel session. the bands for these sessions always tracked the instruments live, together. it is reasonable to assume gannon is playing the second guitar here. and just for the record, gannon did play on a few studio recordings, "panic!" for example.
@ joshualucas Oh well maybe so....this version sounds to me like the original studio version.....
@Mike Quintanilla well, its not. the thing that gives it away is the 'john peel session' listed in the song title. the peel sessions were a BBC radio show hosted by - you guessed it, john peel - where bands would play live. the quality of these sessions were good because bands had a few hours to tweak their live recordings. so there you go.
DONT BE A DICK QUEEF
I got confused i killed a horse... Lol
The first time I heard this song I was rolling hard on E and it felt so fuckin amazing. For many years, I would feel like I was on ecstasy every time I heard the song again...
I also had an experience listening to Marr playing on Sheila take a bow and on the mdma I heard new sounds in the guitar layering
Amazing
My fav album
have been a Smiths fan since 1983-4'ish.... prob most influential band in my life
hippie daddy checks in 2 coo coo nest
absolutely at the top of their game here
The vibe of this song reminds me of the overall vibe of the Morrissey song 'Tomorrow'. I don't care if you disagree.
Vibe away... no one cares what you "vibe", poseur.

Ronald Reagen I salute you brother Reagan!
Can any of us really go home again?
It's "I left my bag in Newport Pagnell", not "lost".
It's "I left my bag in Newport Pagnell", not "lost". Get it right if you're going to be a nerd; typing out the lyrics.
Thank you, ronald reagan!
aldous huxley ate my homework
Apt to be a CRASH_DUMMY in my next life
Aldous Huxley was George Orwell's French teacher. True story.
underrated
God I miss being in love
This album brings me back to the days where I would travel through Spain on buses listening to this on headphones. Such a marvelous album/compilation. One for the ages.
spain sucks

Im a fetus and i like this song
This cassette got me through high school, like 1988-1990. Thanks Morrisey and Johnny Marr. I remember my Walkman, taking the city bus at 6am to school, blasting this cassette. Still my fave by The Smiths, their EPs. It got me through high school!
Big part of my HS years too. Im a Yank, and I was very into the Sex Pistols, Black Flagg, and the Dead Kennedys-hard stuff! Then a sweet young girl introduced me to The Cure and The Smiths and I really began to appreciate bands like that too.
6am? fuck! how far away was your school? i never left the house before 8:30 am
Me too probably my favorite tape. Such memories
Grew up in Las Vegas and graduated in 90
The Smith's rocked many parties.
Best band of the 80s hand's down. (Suck it Bono and U2)
Simple Minds?
they definitely are amazing and one of the best 80's bands. of course; U2 is still making what some consider incredible music. luckily the two bands are mutually fond of each other.
U2 is amazing Sircumsczixszyo. saw them in concert a few years ago in Toronto. best concert I've ever been to.
I'm still going w The Cure instead, but U2 is soooo damn annoying. that egomaniac and the guitar player that rips off Will Sergeant over and over. No thanks
@Scott Harrison
.... Have always loved the Bunnymen but you're seriously wrong.
