Smiths, The - Half A Person Lyrics
Call me morbid, call me pale
I've spent six years on your trail
Six long years
On your trail
I've spent six years on your trail
Six full years of my life on your trail
And if you have five seconds to spare
Then I'll tell you the story of my life :
Sixteen, clumsy and shy
I went to London and I
I booked myself in at the Y... W.C.A.
I said : "I like it here - can I stay?
I like it here - can I stay?
For a Back-scrubber?"
She was left behind, and sour
And she wrote to me, equally dour
She said : "In the days when you were
Hopelessly poor
I just liked you more..."
And if you have five seconds to spare
Then I'll tell you the story of my life :
Sixteen, clumsy and shy
I went to London and I
I booked myself in at the Y... W.C.A.
I said : "I like it here - can I stay?
I like it here - can I stay?
And do you have a vacancy
For a Back-scrubber?"
Call me morbid, call me pale
I've spent too long on your trail
Far too long
Chasing your tail
Oh...
And if you have five seconds to spare
Then I'll tell you the story of my life :
Sixteen, clumsy and shy
That's the story of my life
Sixteen, clumsy and shy
The story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
The story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story of my life
That's the story...

Well Im currently 16, and totally clumsy and shy
Call me morbid, call me pale, I remember grabbing a guitar and singing this song to one of my college buddies here in Ohio, he looked at me like saying, "You must be out of your mind." Too somber for American culture.
That's the story of my life
Tom do vocal ótimo as notas todas boas e bem colocada
The Smiths é show !!!
genius mar/Morrissey combination
Really is the story of my life
I'm finally 16
Sixteen, clumsy and shy, that's the story of my life.
Spent six years of my life on drugs' trail, wasted
How does this have so many more views than their more popular tracks?
It's a crackin' Smiths track, is why.
Never again has their been a group quite like the Smiths. Stephen Patrick Morrissey and Johnny Marr were unbelievable together. Morrissey wrote all the lyrics and Johnny all the music..I remember when it was announced that the band was ending and “Strangeways (which is a prison outside Manchester) Here We Come” was to be the final album...and it was Xmas of 1987, I was a junior in high school and my first serious boyfriend was a senior, we were inseparable and thought we were so in love and absolutely smitten with each other. The smiths were even playing in the background the night John and I first had sex.. cuz I can still remember the beginning strains of “How Soon Is Now”, that long chord... as the song plays up to almost crescendo.yeah definitely something I’ve never forgotten..LOL it’s funny when I think about those times now. Something about The Smiths, their music is always the perfect accompaniment to those little scenarios that I would play out in my head.. where I pretend my life is scenes from a movie..There is a light and it Never Goes Out”, dedicated to you John Healy:)
To all the kids affected. My heart is with y’all
Fabulous
good lord, some gooood times ahead people, 1212 <3
I’ve been listening to the smiths for almost a decade by now and I can say for certain this is my favourite song of theirs. Was ask for a while.
Never a day without the Smiths such urban poetry
Somewhere in mid 1985 Marr discovered the delay pedal. The rest is history

That feeling when no one knows me better than a song..
Beautiful song and painfully all too real for me. Thank You Smiths for letting know i wasn’t alone, then or now. I feel like this only to a lesser degree now.
Jeez. It’s been some time since I listened to the Smiths. So much angry music with provocative skanks. I’m glad I came back... get back to the basics. Those blows to the head have made me angry inside
Well I'm not 16 anymore, but oh God, I'm still clumsy and shy.

1987 brought me here....cheers from KC Missouri
I became a fan of this song in the 80s as a 13 year old female and didn't understand what it was about. I thought going to the YMCA was just 'you need to get your own place because people don't understand you'. Oh how times have changed. And yet 16 is still clumsy and shy.
The Three Wise Men visit the infant Morrissey with gifts, sixteen, clumsy and shy.

SIX LONG YEARS
6 long years...
I was 16 when this came out - no album connected so deeply as this one. I literally was 16 clumsy and shy, an art room "freak: and looking back now - grateful to be :-) - it does get easier...
Soo...is the main character of this song supposed to be a trans woman? The character talks about checking into the YWCA, which would logically stand for Young Women’s Club Of America, and yet the song is sung by a masculine voice
Are you sure you have to be a woman to be employed by the YWCA?
Call me morbid call me pale I spent six years as a *snail*
