I always loved the smithereens but this is the first great band that was ahead of their time...I actually seen them in New York many many years ago in my youth and I never forgot how GREAT these guys were too bad they call this garbage they play today music.These guys are still my time capsule and they will always be...thanks for uploading u-tube great video...the girl in the video was in a a crowded house video and a few blur videos what a beauty.

I won the cassette tape of “11” at a city fair. I was about 10 years old and it just stoked my interest in guitar playing. The riffs are fantastic, the melodies are awesome, my goodness. In a weird way, I came into the Beatles and the Smithereens at about the same time, so I get where the Smithereens were coming from. I got into them even more after I got into the Byrds. Just a great band that pulled from great influences.

The Smithereens are just one of those bands that has something incredibly special about them.

I saw these guys at Spotlight 29 casino. The singer seemed like he had a hard time moving. Anyway, the concert was badass. I looked them up, The Smithereens, and dug their music. So much so that I came on YouTube (months later) to watch one of their videos I liked only to find out Pat passed! ☹️ I'm bummed about it....he was awesome on stage. The Smithereens music lives forever.

I just heard about the sad news of Pat DiNizio's passing. This song came to me first. It will always be one of my favorite songs of all time. R.I.P.

The Smithereens gave the best concert I saw while at the University of Illinois in 1988 at Foellinger Hall.

These guys had it! Tunes up the wazoo and hooks that didn't quit. Saw 'em live a couple of times and they cleaned up the joint! Too bad they didn't become bigger - but at least they were here. Nothing like good hard muscular rock. Here's to ya guys!

Actually both "I Need You" and "The Night Before" were performed on the Salisbury Plains in Help with a makeshift recording setup (which of course was only for appearances as the Beatles weren't really playing but used the studio version as the music track, though the Centurion tanks and British Army troops, i.e. PROTECTION!, were real).

These guys could write some snappy little pop tunes! I like them more and more as the years pass.

Just saw them a few weeks ago.  Still just as amazing and adorable.

The vocals are amazing as in all of the Smithereens songs.  The music is awesome but the vocals carry them.

Cool song! Great Album! The bass guitarist (Mike Mesaros) looks like a cross between Dee Ramone (Ramones) and Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere and the Raiders) in their prime in this video!

Too funny. This has got to be a take off on The Beatles from the movie Help when they're in the field near Stonehenge. If I remember correctly, The Beatles also had a bunch of microphones set up for no reason but no amplifiers. HAHAHA!!!!
