Rock doesn't matter? No one told Patti Smith thank God. She's the epitome of what makes rock & roll great all these decades later. I shiver when I hear her voice - with the chill of her artistry. She understood Elvis, got The Beatles, absorbed Dylan, Ginsburg, Burroughs, Bukowski & Rimbaud. Gave back to us what the old guard couldn't do. The Big Band was great music. Rock became great musical art. Many know this today thanks to a Patti Smith. "My Blakean Year" is another -- astonishing.

I liked this song when I first heard it, but was disappointed to find out it was an allusion to Freaking Gorky, or whoever. It sort of told me that everything in life, no matter how simple, had to be a literary allusion, which is just not true.

Thanks for the comment. But the intro riff to both songs contain the same notes in almost the same sequence. The songs are very different after that. My song is a harder rocker, Patti's a more mellow one. I hadn't noticed until 2 friends pointed it out to me.

Adorable music. Patty is always inspired. I saw her on stage in Paris, 10 years ago. She is one of my favourite female singers.I'm happy to see her doing a new record. I'm happy to see the great Alanis Morisette coming back again too!

Great song, but it seems Patti borrowed my riff. The song I wrote and recorded/released years ago called, I Don't Know. Available on iTunes and Cdbaby. It's a big compliment

Unmistakeably Tom Verlaine playing the guitar solo. Nice job Tom.
Okay, so I already knew ahead of time it was him. But it would have been an easy guess, as he's always had a real distinctive style I like. Arguably, lots of people today (Thurston Moore, Nels Cline, Johnny Marr, & others) play Fender Jazzmasters & Jaguars 'cause Tom, starting in the '70s made those particular, once obscure, unloved, & cheap-2nd-hand Fenders semi-popular, with a much admired unique sound to them.

The guitar on this is beautiful. Patti's voice has gotten better with age. I love the way she has evolved over the years. Sometimes I miss the rage and the fire of Radio Ethiopia days, but I am glad to be here and have Patti's work as the backdrop to all these changes.
