Smith, Elliott - No Name #4 Lyrics

For a change she got out before he hurt her bad
Took her records and clothes and pictures of her boy
It really made her sad
Packed it up and didn't look back
I'm okay, let's just forget all about it
The car was cold and it smelled like old cigarettes and pine
In her bag i saw things she drew when she was nine
Like this one here
Her alone, nobody near
What a shame, let's just not talk about it
No, it doesn't look like you
But you did wear cowboy boots, that's your fame
There's no question about it
Once we got back inside
With one ear to the ground
I was ready to hide
Cos I don't know who's around
And you look scared
It's our secret, do not tell, okay?
Let's just not talk about it
Don't tell, okay?
Let's just forget all about it

So raw hope this isn't his childhood, love the way he humanise's the the woman with tales of her picture's and boots rather than the abuse

This one has to be about or based on or at least inspired by his abusive stepfather and his biological mother when he was a kid. I think it's possible that Elliott Smith suffered from a trauma condition called Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. What do others think?

    I.... ....

Iznessmaurer I’ve come to the same conclusion. I have Complex PTSD and the more I’ve learned about Elliott’s life the more I’m convinced that’s what he had. He never got the proper treatment for his trauma and that’s what fueled his drug addiction. It makes me so sad. I don’t think C-PTSD was known at the time. It’s a newer diagnosis. I wasn’t diagnosed with it until years later and am still struggling. Complex PTSD is caused by prolonged childhood trauma and is very difficult to heal.

+Heather Chavez I too have C-PTSD. I hope you are coping okay xo

Was exited to make my own list of favorite songs. Then realized past-me had already beaten me to it.... 2 Years ago!
my list has now changed though.
    1. Either/Or
    2. Roman Candle
    3. From a Basement
    4. New Moon
    5. Self Titled
    6. XO
    7. Figure 8

(Reason Self-Titled is so low is because my favorite song from that album is 'Christian Brothers' and I actually prefer the earlier version of that song which Elliott did when he was part of Heatmiser)

  9. a.... d....
