Smith, Elliott - Clementine Lyrics
They're waking you up to close the bar
The street's wet, you can tell by the sound of the cars
The bartender's singing "Clementine"
While he's turning around the "Open" sign
"Dreadful sorry, Clementine"
It seems a long time gone
Maybe the whole thing's wrong
What if she thinks so but just didn't say so?
You drank yourself into slow-mo
Made an angel in the snow
You did anything to pass the time
And keep that song out of your mind
"Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling Clementine

Smith, Elliott Clementine Comments
This song is happy compared with the song it singing about. Elliott loved to reference other songs within his song. The imagery here is beautiful too, just manages to fit a story within a story. :)
So beautiful damn
Rest in peace Elliott <3

Cuz Dud tuning?
He understood song structure and was willing to take risks with it. It's why I will forever love his music.
love you Mr smith <3
This would be perfect as a soundtrack for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Triscuit
Man, I was thinking the exact same thing. It'd be hard to make that movie any more perfect than it is, but a dash of Elliott Smith would certainly do it.
Triscuit I came here to say the same thing. Someone should make a fan video using this song.
And it could have been in the soundtrack, the responsible for the soundtrack, was Jon Brion, a great artist, producer, musician, that had a friendship with Elliott Smith, before they split up the friendship, when Elliott Smith pushed away people that where trying to help him saying to him that he should quit using drugs and alcohol, and sadly Elliott came to an end in 2003, and I don't know if he die still mad with Jon, but if they continue they're friendship, he could had used some songs for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, like his songs were used for Good Will Hunting...
so much sorrow in his voice, damn
goosebumps.
Dreadful sorry Clementine, though you're still her man it seems a long time gone, maybe the whole thing's wrong... anything to pass the time and keep that song out of your mind, just anything.

x (addiction + genius) = clementine This album inspires as much as it depresses me the more I listen to it. Thanks for the upload!
Yeah....I listen to Elliot Smith to deal with my depression more times than not. Strangely enough, I end up feeling better.
Lucas.....just gave me a warm smile bro,..hope.
In my opinion Elliott's music makes me feel like I'm not alone when I'm already depressed
