Smith, Elliott - A Passing Feeling Lyrics
Everything is gone but the echo of the burst of a shell
And I'm stuck here waiting for a passing feeling
In the city I built up and blew to hell
I'm stuck here waiting for a passing feeling
Still I send all the time
Down the dead power line
Though I'm beyond belief
In the help I require
Just to exist at all
Took a long time to stand
Took an hour to fall
I'm stuck here waiting for a passing feeling
Stuck here waiting for a passing feeling
Still I send all the time
My request for relief
Though I'm beyond belief
In the help I require
Just to exist at all
Took a long time to stand
Took an hour to fall

Smith, Elliott A Passing Feeling Comments
Utterly beautiful song, speaks to me on so many levels. Elliott you are deeply missed. Xx
Am I the only person who this reminds of Scott Weiland.
Yes, you are.
I like Scott Weiland but not hearing it.
But what do I know
What I love about Elliott is when he needed to rock he would. I really liked him best with his band just like in this album.
Yes! It def was! Like in his 2000 and 2003 tours, I felt his band and his friends who were there at that tour really complemented his sound. So sad he is not with us! It's been so long but its incredibly satisfying that he is continuing to endure after all these years. He is my favorite musician.
That outro......
God that outro with the guitar and drums is unbelievable. Elliott Smith was so talented
That last guitar bit...I’ve had that in my head for my while now. I’ve finally found what song it belongs to
Do you know kimch?
I hope that one day I'll meet someone who will understand me as much as Elliott potencially could if he were still with us.
Everybody understands.
Wishful thinking. You need a reality check.
You're not alone.
This song always takes me back to 2005, its incredible!
Jesus fuck. Nobody speaks the truth of my soul as well as he does.
Honestly, the greatest musician to ever walk.
I miss him with everything I am. :( <3
What a beauty...
Un délice
It's 4.04 am...I'm stuck here waiting.....I love the drums and guitar at the end of this gorgeous song. How did he do it??
... with musical instruments.
WHY DID YOU DIE
14 years today!!
Is this a hard song to play on guitar?
+Dan Ham I know this is late, but it may be a little tough for a beginner. But if you practice the chord changes/ rhythm then no its not very hard, pretty straightforward chords as well.
+Dan Ham not really. it's hard to play on harmonica. i get lost on the drum fills.
brilliant, makes me cry actually
i cried the first time i heard it. it snuck up on me. i was floored.
absolutely fucking equisite
There's not a song by this man that I don't like. I love this man. I'm sad that I'll never get to see him live.
I agree with you! i saw him live twice, i tell you they were both amazing experiences, the last one was 3 months before he died. Happy to know he has so many fans!
Erika Martinez everyday day I miss Elliot but I'm glad I still got my Cat Power.. I don't know how I'd handle losing cat power or Morrisey too.. they're irreplaceable! and that's the short list.. but Elliott was definitely snatched from us too soon.. Murdered..
or dead, probably...
Roger YES , cat power is the shit, she was doing a show once , and she was sick. she started crying because her voice was cracking... hehe everyone was like ,"oh my god" you are fucking beautiful
Many crappy songs.
I think he just had a similar melodic talent/ vibe in sum songs but in no way was 'copying' anyone. It was reminiscent of Beatles but with a totally different cultural context. in my opinion
Oozes Real Love and Im only sleeping but he does in his own style. I think John Lennon would've loved him.
Absolutely., he was one gifted brother !
Paul S qa
Amen to that statement
I love Beatles songs....especially the ones written by Elliott Smith
"real love"
Elliott never lets you down with his songs.
my experience is being dropped off the side of a cliff lol
This isn't a mix of ANYTHING. Elliott was a truly gifted musician and a gentle soul who battled so many demons! RIP dude!
took a long time to stand; took an hour to fall
Just listen and enjoy this genius man, Elliot thank you for making music, and I don't give a damn about who listen to you and who not
WHO CARES
two people just signed their death warrent.. Elliott Smith style. -_-
apparently 2 assholes
elliott smith's IS chris cole!!!!!!
Awesome, Happy Birthday Elliott! This does sound like the Beatles.
took a long time to stand took an hour to fall
WHAT THE FUCK!!!
Brilliant song, and totally heartwrenching.
Elliott Smith, you're gone now. But I know you loved the Beatles. And I have to say.. this song and many others by you... make me want to listen to the Beatles.. then come back and listen to you more. You're part of the musical fabric. And you'll never die. Bless you. Beautiful SongSmith.
i cried when i read what you wrote
You are a selfish person.
@ThePoison38 i relly lik ur lets plays ubt thuis ant the place to talk about it this bout song smith :/
ps. give me shut out too
pps.
@PwnZoneification Dude I really like your cf reviews yah btw good song maybe give me a shout out sometime?
@bryt12693 Just because one guy did something bizarre (and of course there will have been others) doesn't mean it isn't still unlikely.
I'd at least like to think he didn't. He was getting his life together, and was good at the time in most respects.
All the events sorrounding his death were just shady is all.
@pushherinthesnow Many people (even the great Kurt Vonnegut) said that he thought they were the only...was it band? or entertainment that really made people feel better/changed things or something can't remember the exact quote.
But it was high, high praise.
Everyone else says they were are will be the best, so they probably still are overrated even if they're not bad.
Masterpiece. The best song I've heard n the past 6 months. This is from my favourite Elliott Smith album.
Elliott, I miss you all the time... I'm stuck here waiting for a passing feeling.
@KegrahTDK Hmm, maybe his girlfriend was in on it?
@curtisrunstedler I'm pretty sure he was murdered. You don't stab yourself TWICE in the chest.
@VincentPrice111 Absolutely right. Everyone is influenced by somebody else. Elliott was also influenced by waltzes, Rachmaninoff, flamenco... He didn't walk (or play) in anyone's shadow.
Malocclusiontenfour right on
7 Years Ago today, RIP Elliott Smith
Yeah, so, time is gonna keep passing.
Maximum Subtlety I like when people comment just to be dicks.
this song is a masterpiece.
a waste? really, I just think it gives the music that much more meaning.
the arrangements are superb!
WHY did he stab himself? Such a waste of incredible talent...
