Smashing Pumpkins - Wound Lyrics

There you are
As you always were
In bathing light
And naked blur
You're a part of me
Eternal One
By grand design
And setting sun
If you wait I will wait
Taste I will taste
If you love I will love
Run I will run
To my last breath
Last night I turned around and thought I saw myself turning
Inside the strangest dream of life unloved and cities burning
Awake in my arms
You cry unharmed
Our age of the hours
While they still devour all
So take it all
I doubt if we
Will know it's gone
Cause we've been here
Since time began
Begged god awake and make these plans
Wound opens
Reveal this broken man
And soon there's notions of blood on his hands
If you wait I will wait
Taste I will taste
If you love I will love
Run I will run
To my last breath
Last night I turned around I thought I saw myself turning
Last night I turned around and thought I watched the world ending
Inside the crushing down I felt a pang the tide was turning
Destroyed in the wake
The jealous ingrates
Who'll tear this world down
To spite god above
With his own love
With his own love
If you wait
If you wait
If you wait I will wait
Taste I will taste
If you love I will Love
Run I will run
To my last breathe

Man I was only 14 when this album came out, so many great memories, when they split up I was heartbroken, and when Machina II came out I spent 140 bucks to buy one of the cd's on ebay, to this day I think theres only like 10 albums and 100 cd's of Machina II

  2. p.... g....

  5. P.... I....

If Billy Corgan said that this album will be the best rock Album of the moment just behind of coming out, I'm agree , Machina is pure and authentic like the band.

  6. L.... M....

Forgot the NAME of the song. But remembered the lyrics. Love this whole CD.

  7. X.... ....

Vastly underrated track. Listening to this and a couple others makes me want to buy it for a second time on disc just to have it

  8. G.... C....

    Bye

    I'm with stupid 👉👰

  10. D.... S....

This was the last album Smashing Pumpkins really made :)

  11. J.... L....

Wound opens, reveal this broken man
and soon there's notions of blood on his hands.

  12. J.... F....

Lyric Grand Master: William Patrick Corgan

  13. Z.... H....

    Una canción demasiado buena.

  14. M.... M....

This album got really slept on, when I thought it was a close 3rd to Siamese Dream. Melon Collie is far and above their best.

  15. C.... M....

Killer. BC says its the most underrated song on this album. Me thinks I agree.

    C.... M....

Where did he say that? I agree with with both of you also :)

  16. B.... K....

This is a very mature sounding SP album.

  17. M.... B....

    Masterpiece

  18. a.... ....

Reminds me of The Cure's wish era... with a twist. Awesome song.

  19. H.... ....

    Aguanten los Smashing vieja

  20. R.... H....

    This is a great song.

  21. A.... G....

For a very long time I had trouble connecting to this song and wrote it off as a song to 'Skip. 17 years later, I have such a strong connection to it. In spite of my early perception of the song, it sounds amazing and makes it all the more powerful.

  22. F.... ....

    To my last breath...

  23. A.... ....

Powerful song. I would love to hear this album remastered one day.

    A.... ....

They're working on it. It's just a little tied up

    A.... ....

    Your wish came true.

  24. A.... C....

My favorite Pumpkins song. “The Imploding Voice” isn’t far behind. But then there’s “This Time”. Good record these songs come from!

  25. T.... ....

My favorite album is adore, I love the vibe, the mysticism, the dark atmosphere, otherwise my favorite song is disarm, and I love machina I and II and I know there's so many people with different tastes, but nobody must deny that siamese dream and MCIS are their best albums beyond our personal opinion

  26. B.... l....

    Beautiful

  27. K.... V....

This song was great. I love Machina.

  28. D.... K....

Second date with my first real girlfriend. Sixteen years old. Feeling inadequate and insecure. I listened to this whole album for the first time lying on the kitchen floor away from the party we were at. Was legitimately insane for the duration. Amazing how you can hear a song 14 years later and you're right back there again. Hadn't thought about it but you still knew every word......

  29. Y.... P....

    ellos son los mejores yeaaa

  30. c.... v....

and my first son was born with this beautiful song in the air...."if you run, I will run till my last breath"

  31. M.... ....

In 2001 I was on aeroplane going to Cancun and I listened this album all the night,I really love billie corgan lyrics so lovely so DIVINE!!!

    M.... ....

So... Who cares you go to Cancun???

  32. R.... ....

To my last breath thanks billy :D

  33. A.... C....

Billy Corgan was pure poetry! Wound's lyrich is deep and intense! One of the greatest Pumpkins song

    A.... C....

    Alessio Calicchia you're goddamn right

    A.... C....

He's so underrated as a poet.

    A.... C....

    You're fukkin right my friend

    A.... C....

correction. he IS pure poetry. He aint done yet we got years more of him

  34. L.... S....

This song has always inspired me to grab my guitar from the stand. Thank you Billy!

    L.... S....

Me too! It's so wonderful to play it. Yesterday i played it, today i listened to it, and now i came to youtube to read the opinions :)

  35. h.... r....

My favorite Pumpkins Album. Brings back my teenage angst.

  36. m.... ....

The vibe of the song makes it great. I get the feeling of "keep going."

    m.... ....

    @msj56 agreed.

    m.... ....

    No seriously, that's perfect!

    m.... ....

will always love the song...one of my top 10 fav SP songs

  37. D.... K....

    geras gabalas

  38. b.... ....

another beautiful song from an amazing album

    b.... ....

It's so hard to pick a favorite Pumpkins album, bc they're all amazing. But for some reason, this album has always spoke the most to me, overall. So I guess I might have to say it's my favorite. I've always been so drawn to it, so so so beautiful!

  39. R.... W....

    Best song on that album.

    R.... W....

Top 3 easy. I think Glass & the Ghost Children and Age of Innocence are also heavy hitters.

    R.... W....

    Age of Innocence: Yes
    Glass/Ghost Children: no

    R.... W....

I c wut you did there xD

    R.... W....

+Bobbin' Williams but that Glass and the Ghost bass line in the beginning sucks me in every time

  40. M.... O....

    Amazing song!

  41. S.... Z....

    beautiful song

  42. O.... ....

    great song

  43. l.... b....

    Good song

  44. m.... ....

i like the lazzari experiments version better...just saying..

    m.... ....

mrpelon1000 I'm sorry lol the acoustic version of this song is pretty great

  45. D.... P....

    to my last breath

  46. M.... M....

The reviews were actually pretty great, at least 15 critics reviewed it and most of them gave it a good review, it was even hailed by a few at their 'masterpiece'. The only Pumpkins to get low reviews has been Zeitgeist.

  47. M.... M....

    What about Mellon Collie?

  48. C.... M....

Really? You put Gish at 4? Wow.

  49. h.... ....

I hope billy knows how great this album is, despite the reviews. He never stopped making great music...

  50. T.... B....

    Best Pumpkins albums:
    1) Gish
    2) Machina/ Siamese Dream
    3) Pisces Iscariot

  51. D.... M....

    Keep returning to this one.

  52. R.... ....

i cant wait until Corgan remasters this whole album and machina 2 !!!!! ahhhh yes!

  53. R.... ....

    what a fantastic song!!!!!!!

  54. F.... ....

    @MozVolta I agree with you

  55. d.... ....

@mike62895 failllll its "Adore"...AND Pisces Iscariot its an EP.. ...technically not an album

  56. S.... ....

@mercurymadhatter I also had a strong period of heavy Adore time. Great album but yes it is more melancholy but I don't think that is a bad thing. Some of the most potent art, such as Guernica by Picasso, is sad. Or a favorite movie of mine Children of Men. Anyway, BC and SP forever buddy.

  57. S.... ....

@mercurymadhatter yeah I think I was more speaking to people who in general dislike melancholy music brother and those who think that genre is new but forget a whole genre called the blues. No hate intended. Enjoy your weekend

  58. r.... ....

@mike62895 MCIS was not that great and Pisces Iscariot was amazing.

    r.... ....

Not that great? Are you sure you're not just butthurt that it's better than Siamese Dream like half the Pumpkin fan base is? Mellon Collie is phenomenal. Especially if you count the outtakes. There's about 40 great songs

  59. S.... ....

@mercurymadhatter Clapton did Layla and no one said the album was depressing (well I wasn't born yet but I'm pretty sure they didn't). I love Adore's melancholy just as I love the permeating sadness in Layla. There is a time and a place for every album I believe and I'm glad I waited for the right time to hear both of these albums.

  60. J.... ....

Remember if it doesn't sound exactly like Siamese Dream it's evil.

  61. B.... ....

    n1... What can i say.

  62. s.... ....

I listened to this song alone over and over when the love of my life left for college. I'll never forget it.

  63. a.... a....

    what a beautiful song

  64. i.... ....

@MozVolta absolutely agreed!!! I wish more people realized about that!

  65. s.... ....

One of the most beautiful songs ever!
And I aggree, it is indeed underrated.
Machina is a very touching, yet monumental album, which takes you to a very special voyage.

  66. D.... ....

    @MozVolta totally agree :)

  67. S.... ....

    Beautiful lyric ;)

  68. a.... u....

Feel this is a top 5 pumpkin song, agree very under rated album , sometimes an album falls under the radar by press and media , this and Ava Adore are 2, but never-the -less more beautiful and precious as a concequence...

  69. a.... a....

this particular piece is very close to me it brings back very powerful memories- spiritually, physically, sexually- all around awesome

  70. M.... ....

Easily one of the most underrated albums in recent rock history. It got lukewarm reviews, but it's a masterpiece in my eyes.

  71. m.... ....

Glad this was posted its one of thier best songs

  72. M.... N....

such an amazing hit , im surprised that not alot of people know this song
