Smashing Pumpkins - United States Lyrics
Tired eyes
Closed for days
There's no regret
'Cause there's no place
I don't know
But if I feel safe
What do I need
A home
A home
A home
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
Dulcet tongues
Whisper fast
The future yearns
Right now's the past
Rouse me soon
The end draws nigh
Who's side are you on
Your blood you cannot buy
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do to you
Well I
I feel alright
So tonight
I got to ask you why
Why deny it
It's no surprise
I've got to survive
Freedom shines the light ahead
I'll lead the last charge to bed
I said my last rights
I don't have to run scared no more
Fight
I wanna fight
I wanna fight a revolution
Tonight
I wanna fight
I wanna fight a revolution
Tonight
At the light
At the light
Do you wanna watch me die
Let me be something good
Let me prove something real like I should
Let me embrace every single living thing
Let me be every single moment I ever misunderstood

Smashing Pumpkins United States Comments
This song fuck'n rocks!
I don't know how I never heard this before. A complete masterpiece from start to finish. This is that exemplary Pumpkins' rawness playing out like a mantra. Could definitely get lost in this song
8:38 is one of sickest transitions ever recorded! Literally makes me think of a scene where a villain walks away in slow motion. (If this song were in a movie)
Best song on the record by a country mile!
One of the best rock songs so far of the 21st Century (as of Nov. 2019)
My skin hurts ,from all the goosebumps
La intro suena muy parecida al solo de batería de 100 000 years de KISS
Great drumming from mr Chamberlain.
Jimmy challenges Billy to write good music. There is no album that is good that Jimmy isn't on
Revolution blues!
I love the venomous vibe to this song, masterfully acerbic
chills to this day
Majestic drumming
Borderline prog
"Let me be every single moment I ever misunderstood....."
😤🤘🙌
When the drummer gets going like a muscle motor. These great drummers are what I live for in motivation. Guys like Ginger Baker, Ian Piace, Rev. Al, and SM's Jimmy Chamberlin.
I say, "Rock on!"
The end of this song is sick
Hermosooooooo
This album deserves so much more love than it gets! I’m a long time Pumpkin fan, from Siamese Dream onwards, I was hooked. When this came out, I was bitter about James and Darcy not being involved, but did it ever grow on me. Just Billy and Jimmy layin it down hard in the studio. It’s a masterpiece in its own right.
False flag attacks are so stupid, only stupid fucks believe their lies
YOU HEARD ME...
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
all the haters have this wrong - this is the best song on Zeitgeist easily and maybe even my fave SP tune dependant on mood!
Reminds me of Queen's "Tie your mother down"
Billy Corgan knows heavy. Great guitar player.
Iha is better.
pretty impressive ~ love pumpkins ~~
the title is shit
Cant believe Lee Mack is playing the drums
holy shit they really do look the same
The breakdown at the end is fucking dirty.
Great song. Terrible audio quality¡!!!!!¡!¡!
billy and jimmy need to get back into the studio. this is gold
And they are in the studio! Look at Billy's Instagram!
They just recorded 8 new tracks with Rick Rubin producing.
oh damn now im hella excited
New album drops in November! FUCKING! STOKED!
Everything post 8:00 is worth the wait!
Zeitgeist is really underrated, it’s my second favorite album under Mellon Collie
It’s my fourth after Siamese Dream, MellonCollie and Gish.
I prefer Starla.
Dude, thank you so much for posting this. I can't find this song or the entire Zeitgeist streaming on any services. I really wanted to blast this through my new Sonos speakers but my headphones will do fine too. Right on, and thank you.
Matt Dempsey yep, still absent from Spotify...
Agreed. The sound quality on this YouTube upload does the song justice. Zeitgeist and Zwan need to get on Spotify.
Billy Corgan singing about revolution Lol Dude is a conservative, so his vision for America terrifies me. He'll get his low taxes on the rich with Trump
He's a libertarian.
Libertarians are conservative dumbasses
The old-school Democrat/liberal, has much more in common with the contemporary conservative/libertarian. What is far more terrifying, is the post-modern neo-marxist group think, identity-politic driven perpetuation of division and hatred under the guise of "morality" and "equality". It's called "divide and conquer". It's been done before, and it is occurring now, right here in America under the big government, far-left propaganda machine of the Democratic party. The "revolution" will be coming from conservatives and libertarians.
Joe Tomasso enjoying your edgy Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, and Sam Harris diet?
@j glol oh there's no way I could have ever expected any kind of snarky, derisive response.
Guitars + Jimmy fucking Chamberlin = the last 3 minutes of this song
Love the child like"la la la la" trying to drown out the REVOLUTION chants
Porcelina of the United States
Obama and the Ghost Children
This is my favorite track off Zeitgeist, hands down.
This and Doomsday clock. You have to admit, the drum intro on Doomsday clock is AMAZING.
I don't like their new albums. I don't listen to any albums past Ava
Machina I and II were actually pretty good
so are the ones after that...but they definitely lost the emotional sound after Machina
Danny Maciel Come on Dude anything Billy Corgan does is Gold
Danny Maciel You’re missing out.
Adore is my favorite album without a doubt, but you gotta listen to Machina 1 and 2 those are both amazing albums, now of course their newer stuff wont be as perfect as Siamese or Mellon Collie but its still worth the listen, i definitely reccomend checking out Monuments, Being Beige and Drum + Fife are both amazing tracks.
underrated track
+Jacob William Gorey personally the best track on the album but that is my opinion.
+nastycanadian1975 yup, whenever I think about this album it''s the 'what will they do to you' line from this song - shatters the - well a revolution simply means the good (all of us) overthrow the bad (all of them) narrative, who is an enemy for whom etc. blah blah rambling
*SPOILERS* like in the book 1984, you can't help but wonder whether you would be cool with a rat eating your face, and what you'd do in that situation, and then you realise that the real question is, if you got locked in a cage and starved, would you be able to not eat the face?
I was jamming out to this in their Boston concert so hard someone working there asked if I wanted to go to the front row. Smashing pumpkins still have it. Unbelievable song
this is great :)
They brought this song HARD in HOTLANTA last weekend!!!! EPIC SHOW!!!!
Just watched them perform this in Concord, CA this evening. They rocked SO hard! I hadn't seen them live in over 20 years, and they still knocked me out!
@Mark Danielle in phoenix? So will i !
@cereal4u
Yes! Great show, no? Manson's technical difficulties aside, I think there were solid performances all around.
@Daniel Gross Incredilble last night in camden too, did not expect such an amazing, hard performance. awesome.
Lol love Manson but he made fun of Corgan for looking like Charlie Brown back in the day. Now look at how they’ve aged. Corgan looks way better and bangs pop stars. Manson is a drunken mess.
From California huh? Yeah, I bet you like it when things are "SO HARD"! 😂😂😂
Hell yeah! Love S.P.! U rock!
Epic ending for an epic album
I'll LISTENING TO THIS BAND, WHEN IT REACHES THE END OF THE WORLD, SUPERB! ... (END OF THE WORLD IS WHEN USA, MAKE THE 3RD WORLD WAR)
Dont pray for it too hard lol.
"*whose" side are you on, not "who's"
SO COOL MEN!!!TANKS!!!
jimmy fucking chamberlin
Horrible mixing (from SP of all bands) makes him hard to even hear. Don’t know what they were thinking. But yes Jimmy is one of a kind. Nobody else sounds like him, totally idiosyncratic.
Life, Liberty and the pursuit of what?
Sounds a lot like Superchrist which came out just after this album...
I thought the exact same thing. Superchrist is pretty amazing too and it's really fun to watch them rock out live to it on live youtube perfomances. Would be a fun one to watch performed in person for sure!
Nasty 10 minute track on a very underrated record. Really gets me riled up.
Joe Tomasso Agreed. This song is incredible live.
Monster song. Totally agree.
So does your mother!...😏
Alex Jones may be a little conspiracy drive, but he is still not a "idiot"
I disagree, Alex Jones is an idiot
oh this comment aged well
Haha, I thought the same thing. I actually got into Smashing Pumpkins when I found this album in one of my dad's old CD stacks. I put it in and I instantly loved it. My favorite songs on it are United States and Bring the Light.
He doesn't either.
Such an underrated album!
sweden and Norway are much better, happier places to live than the US
I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
reminds me of Bela Lugosi's Dead a little bit.
Esp the guitar solo section about 5 mins in
13 Steps to Nowhere? LOL.
Using "smart" and "Alex Jones" in the same sentence is more than a little confusing.
sounds like liam 1995 .....revoulsheeean
#SoundtrackOfTheRevolution
screw the original line up, this album is pure gold!
All of those things he listed are met with big amount of Government control. LACK OF GOVERNMENT SHITBRAIN.
jimmy IS the best drummer
good. thats true
freedom means owing stuff? dude, you're crazy
intro has sounds like "Pantera - 13 steps" lol
I'm not the only one here tonight because of that Alex Jones interview, I see. This is one Pumpkins album I don't have , wouldn't you know. First time i've heard the song, and I agree, it hard.
GOOGLE: Salon Covers Powerful Billy Corgan Interview
Infowars brought me here!
fuck the system for hiding this from us. the media sux!
excellent song,,drums are amazing
yes it is... yes it is
smart man but i wont give away my rights to big bro without bringing hell down on them. We are all destined to expire but the question that needs asked is how will you be remembered??
he's spot on with his words. Our government is corrupt and he knows it. It's time that others wake up and realize it's time.
this is the AMERICAN revolutionist anthem. The time is coming, no more fence sitting, either get in the game or get the fuck out of the way!!
The main riff sounds like Superchrist, I guess Billy plagiarized his own song.
Superchrist is a little more stripped down and strange. for one thing it's in 6/8 time, giving it a strange insistent groove whereas this one is more like a war march. Superchrist is the more psychedelic track for sure
I can't help it... I just love when the Pumpkins do songs that are incredibly drawn out and self-indulgent.
bellend alert
I left the country.. jaja!!
Zero, great song by this band :D it's ok that you don't understand the music, but don't open your fat mouth and degrade a good band and great song.
Have you listened to Corgan talk about politics? I think he's better versed in this area than the vast majority of people. The guy's also a wordsmith, like, listen to Porcelina of the Vast Oceans and tell me that isn't poetry.
If you don't like it that's fine, but you can't say it's unintelligible because he says revolution... that's like saying John Lennon isn't intelligible because he writes songs about revolution... it's just absurd.
Interestingly enough, Corgan wrote the lyrics to porcelina in one sitting and didnt even think about what they meant. it was purely stream of consciousness.
Justin Head most people are unhighly educated. They don't read and think for them selves. This album is really good and billy corgin songs are so deep that the masses don't understand. I'm glad there are some intelligence to be found online. I loved this album and cannot believe people hated this album. Artlacruz 2018 : )
THE REVOLUTION IS COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU!! will you fight or will you lay down???
It's an album cover that wasn't & couldn't possibly be premeditated, relax & use common sense.
MEMORIES!= TIME TRAVEL? hmmm......
Perfect example of someone picking up the torch and pitchfork cos they don't understand something. Bollox to that.
look at the album artwork. think of what just happened to new york.
You're right... haha
God, the drumming. T'is quite wonderful.
this song is nuts!!!
love the rhythm of this song. great riff
Billy corgan is acutally very politcally smart watch some interviews with him and Alex Jones
I agree with you mostly, but Bill Corgan is amazing, and extremely deep, and you are in no place to judge him, so as long as he is much more popular than you, and has a much better musical talent than you.
Tarantula?
amazing song.
Yes, Corgan is aware of the new world order agenda and has been on the Alex Jones show.
hello from the future, I bet Corgan regrets it now!
water means truth in mysticism. notice album cover. 'nuff said.
People just love to hate.all on Billy's nuts. lol The 90's are over. Zeitgeist is a great ROCK album. Plain and simple. :)
