Smashing Pumpkins - Glissandra Lyrics
Fallen lovers and useless friends
Must you glare?
A life uncovers our unions pulled by threadbare
Pleasure taps it's vein
And I've been sated some more
I used to know what for
I used to know
All hours look the same
I used to know
What a wish was for
Magic plumes my soul
Pyramids for sale
Full moons on the rail
Pipers play for dawn
Hypnotized, unwind these lines around my head
What's left for me to leave for you unsaid?
You can't fill with dread
I've been hungry and I've been full
Molten at the spoke
I used to know what for
I used to know what for
A pluck on spider strings
Gutter from the stars
Children from the stars
Children cry out proud
As embers blast my heart
Broken where I'd stop
I used to know
What a wish was for
I used to know
What a wish was for
Flicks on tender wrists
Abuse the modern mind
Crush on what you'll find
La-la-la-la-la...

Beautiful 💜🍃
this song reminds me of Machina. Maybe could have been on that underrated album.
2:35 he’s a lyrical genius, la la la la laaaa la la la la laaa, how did he come up with that
To me this is their best album since Billy brought back the SP name.

Amazing song
Awesome song 👍🏼 😎 👏
I’d totally drain Billy. No homo.
Stop bitching, this is a dope album. Literally, try it! 😂
Esta es la más hermosa canción. Siempre me llena de melancolía.
This song reminds me of Machina. This is one of my favorites from Oceania.
I fell in love with this song omg
Fantastico!!!
Great Album
Some decent melodies on this record but overall the writing and production lack the dynamics of gish/sd and seem comparatively uninspired. Their original lineup had a dynamic that was greater than what Billy alone (or with anyone else) can achieve. James and D'arcys' playing style and shortcomings contributed heavily to giving the songs a frenetic character that was elevating. Their live shows from 91-95 are more interesting than the entirety of their recorded material.
@Michael Mitchell Your mildly clever quip does bring up a valid point. This is a new album, and should be judged as such. Unfortunately, due to the obvious employment of 90s-era SP guitar cliches, Billy has made the comparison to earlier work for us. The Future Embrace is actually a much larger divergence/progression, and vastly more interesting album, but it did not do well commercially - so Billy rehashed SP. This track in particular sounds like a melange of Loveless-era MBV and early SP, as does the whole album, minus the inspiration/writing quality and nuance of the aforementioned.
I thought this was a pretty great album. A great change of pace from their earlier stuff imo. Very proggy and atmospheric. The album always makes me think of fall for some reason.
almost.. everything they do is classic
end of story
James and Darcy didn’t play on Siamese Dream.
Not avaible in mexico. Why?
2:19 is the best part of the album
Not as good as past records by SP. It was a let down for me.
The only good song of the album... But really good.
100% disagree
best lyrics!
This fuckers rules so hard... TxSxPx 4 ever
More like Circa has been listening to Pumpkins. Give Machina a listen.
Should be called Blissandra.
Third best song on here behind , Pale Horse and Panopticon .
That was the first thing I said about it. I think its the lead guitar theme in it thats played a lot
haha, no problem dude
Pumpkins are beautiful beyond measure. The music of disruptive technologies, the music of the American dream.
sigh, if you have to explain a joke it's not funny anymore.
Fucking thank you bro.
I hope for your sake you are kidding. I remember seeing this live on Fuse when Billy was there promoting TheFutureEmbrace. It was a joke, Billy has no children, I'll say it again for people who believe him when he's kidding around, BILLY CORGAN HAS NO KNOWN CHILDREN. He's always making a joke about "Jason Corgan" as well, he's childless as of right now, sadly.
He does now!
billy corgan has acknowledged gerard way as his son.

Nice pop like old A-HA . Fail.
not sure if youre trolling or whether you think that was actually serious...
Love this song!!
Jenn DeSantis the whole album is pretty good too :D
One of the best of 2012!!!! AMAZING

Really? I can't find any real proof online......if you found an article or something can you send it to me? I've always wondered...
he does have a son.
It will be a crime against mankind if Billy never has any children.
Augustus !!!
By far.
nice playlist, even better group!!!!!
This is the best song on the album imo.
Well, he is 45 years old...
maybe im gonna love this song for the next 5-6 years... yes.! new stuff doesnt easily stick well.. anyway, SP are the best..
Corgan and the gang have done it again! Been a big Pumpkins fan for a while, and this is just pure beauty.
i love the guitars, great sound, awesome album!!!!
glissando
I love this song !
I love this song...
my favorite song from zeitgeist is bleeding the orchid.
i agree with you there my favourite sp song is doomsday clock just because im more of a heavy pumpkins fan but im enjoying songs like this and the chimera because it just feels like corgans trying to grow up creatively and make songs as beautiful as tonigh tonight again.
Reminds me of something that would come out around the Machina era, but that's just me. I really like this song.
Pumpkins fans are so embarrasing to hear argue over this shit. Listen to the music and enjoy it. This would be the lowest budget album since Gish for all of you screaming 'sellout' or 'millionaires', and while the original members will always be missed, go listen to Mike and Nicole singing live, then listen to James or D'arcy. Actually, do yourself a favour and listen to Beautiful live here on YouTube, and you get to hear them singing simple nah nah's together, totally destroying the song.
*everlasting gaze
i can't believe people actually wish that billy lived in the past creatively. it's a good thing that every smashing pumpkins album sounds different, that means he's not trying to copy the sound of his most successful albums just to make money. i do like this album, but the first time i listened to the full album it didn't blow me away. a day later i kept thinking to myself to listen to it again, i did , and i slowly started to like more of the songs except maybe 2, or 3 of them.
yeah i know...im not dissing him...of course he did some good work after '95..not much tho, stand inside, everlasting glow...look,the guys a legend, theres no disputing that but am i the only one that can see that the better tracks on this album r just reprisals of some of his older stuff ?
cheers : )
'Stand Inside Your Love' was after 'Mellon Collie....'
your a pig dog
billy became a millionaire upon the release of MCATIS(1995)..the edge came off after that, imo up to that release they were driven and experimental and had the ability to connect across a range of age groups and music genres from alt/pop '1979'..to grunge 'bullet with butterfly wings'..to poetic balladry 'stand inside your love'.. to pure alternatv bliss 'today'..alls im saying is he puts out music like a millionaire would....its safe...its not bad so u need to chill out...
oh really? you know that billy is missing passion? you know his thoughts? fuck that, fuck you. you don't know what the hell he thinks. if you watched any interviews from him recently he LOVES the album. he likes the fresh start he says.
i agree with the the machina comparison, but theres something missing and its called passion from billy...hes so flat and uninspired, the drumming is first rate, the bass is fine but billy just seems to be going thru the motions on this whole album with his vocals
Best song on Oceania by miles. Best song Billy's shoved out of his head in years, actually.
Congratulations Corgan!
Lovely melody!
geras gabalas nachui
Can we not agree that the majority of Billy's music is poetry? I will admit, I enjoy the lyrics and music on the Machinas, with that cool electronic twist. Personally, his singing isn't the best on it. But let's be serious, nothing is worse the Zeitgeist! Had potential, just wasn't executed the right and rushed WAY too much!
machinas lyrics are pure poetry and cannot be beaten, the music style is so varied and strange but yet amazing, simply the best. Each to their own and all that :P
Ehh, there are some good songs on the them, but everything before them (excluding adore) outdoes the machinas in my opinion :P
I usually don't like to compare a new song to an old song, but this really reminds me of Raindrops And Sunshowers. At the beginning I even said "Rain falls on everyone, the same old rain. I'm just trying to stay next to you, between the rain and the sun!"
The album speaks to everyone diffrently... a song for all kinds each to another it may speak... one at a time
This remind anybody else of My Bloody Valentine's "Only Shallow"?
no album ever can top the machinas <3
one of my favorites.
God, this is so sexy. Thank you. ^_^
Beautiful song...Thanks for sharing SP.
Yea alibabatree machina is awsome and can't be topped, unfortunately may I add, I want more of them echoey metallic tones
Easily the best alt rock album in the past 5 years.
well, its 2018 now and its still the best alt rock album this century. no one else can do what billy can do. he set out with Oceania to make an "album". It will most likely be the last time he does that. This album will one day be recognized as yet another masterpiece by the greatest genius in the last days of rock.
I agree. I really love this track. It's a standout song on the album. One that I'm gonna keep listening to forever :)
Hard to say, but i think this is my favorite off the album. Its the only song with Machina influence, which makes sense because Machina is my favorite album of all time
This CD is really good!!!
Can't stop playing this, thank you SP, you did it again. :D
Love this - great drive and energy!
I love the guitar in the song so freaking much <3
Incredible!!!
Two hands full with wanting more :)
On the way to buy the album right now :D
Love it. Sounds great.
Great song :)
