Smashing Pumpkins - Daughter Lyrics
Hands that offer
Hands that take
Someone's daughter
Taking me, take me away
In the water
Someone's daughter
Hearing love slip away
And you've been, you've been abused
All your life, you lost
And true

Smashing Pumpkins Daughter Comments
You can tell billy found his good real singing voice around this time, the song reminds me of translucent in a way
This is the Pumpkins I like the best. It would have fit well on Gish, I agree.
I wonder if D'arcy played the bass on this. Awesome.
This is beautiful-- I have heard this before but for some reason tonight was possibly the perfect time to hear this due to the feelings I'm having right now.
Greatest band ever.
tye beginning is like the end of that deftones song!
Why don’t they put this out? This would have been great to see on the Gish reissue.
Is that James?
nope, it's the same old billy
sunday afternoom lazy and high !
Loving the D'arcy fans here! Search 'Trust flushed with colors' by Fulflej its here on Youtube, Jae from Fulflej made a comment that D'arcy helped 'sweeten it up' as well as play on it, an AMAZING and little known gem of a song. Check it out you wont regret it!
I love lazy, dreamy music like this.
Hey Tony! I've just played Hot&Heavy as you ahahaha
MCHellshit I'd recommend the song they made called translucent then
Dear Junior, bootcamp works if our labs place dope in heaps & bounds during the fermentation processbuzzbuzzbuzz. dissed likes & I will too!
Anyone here ever listen to the Devendra Banhart song "Won't You Come Home" from his 2013 album Mala? It sounds a lot like this song. In fact there are quite a few similarities between the two. As soon as I heard the Banhart song I immediately thought of Daughter.
I kind of wish they never took The Cure out of their sound. Gish is by far their best era to me.
Yes! :) Agreed.
Nah. They were at their best being original. Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream are pretty fuckin legendary.
To each their own. Personally, I think they just evolved or to some devolved the sound. I can hear a different style of it in Siamese dream and Mellon Collie in a sense. I think that’s been the greatest thing about the Pumpkins. Their discography is so vast and inclusive of so many different styles that they have a song for every mood! :)
This sounds nothing like the cure
This is going to sound sort of silly, but I've been looking hard for a Smashing Pumpkins B side/rarity but can't remember the name of the song. All I remember is that it was a very energetic song that went on for a bit longer than most of their other ones, with a lot of solos thrown in, sort of one building onto the other. It was definitely D'arcy/Iha/Chamberlain era Pumpkins too. If anyone has any ideas what it could be please let me know, it was a really great track and I'd like to hear it again
N. Hale Green honey spider or drown.
N. Hale Green --S.P.SONGS like this rare are soo sweet..
Is it spiteface?
A girl named sandoz?
hey! how r u? so, did u figure out what song it is?
they were so beautiful, spirit, mind, body. Musick is magick.
Are you Darcy?
notoriousqueenpigeon mind body and soul perhaps?
How about daydream on Gish?
She didn't write it though/
The only song D'arcy was ever officially credited with helping write. So beautiful.
@Justin Creighton-Emmer
Is she credited as a songwriter? I don't think so. The whole band was credited on Why Am I So Tired DVD, but then again, it's unclear if that's right cause there is another release where only Billy is credited to be the songwritter of that song as well.
I have the zero e.p the whole band is credited
Pastichio medley she co wrote it
Your an asS
amazing band. how come they could afford to waste songs like this. This is way better than an average Gish song. (And Gish is insanely great record...)

oh my god. how is it i never heard this so freaking amazing
Excellent rare SP song!!
This song=beautiful
@organiclead you're so dang.. organic.
hints of the coming/blooming post rock stuff to come from chicago 6~7 years later...the bass line sniffs of tortoise...
Wow!! I haven't heard this song in like 8 years or so.....brings back lost of old smashing pumpkin memories.
@kylereece1979
I was obsessed with them too (still am) in the mid 90s after being fortunate enough to find the early websites dedicated to sharing their rare and live songs like the Realm Of Soft Delusions, SPAA or Usenet. I spent many hours downloading the songs on my universities network and then zipping them all up across 90+ floppy disks.
Come to think of it that may be a contributing factor in my not getting a very good grade... oh well :D
megawow. this is amazing......so corganpure
I was obsessed with the band in the early-mid 90s. I can only imagine how I wudda felt hearing all these galaxies of unreleased gems back then! The pre-Gish era is interesting, with the big rock of Sabbath and Zeppelin gnashing into the layered lush gothic soundscapes. And all these songs should be released on a box set,or something.
Anyone liking the jangly, haunting guitars here, check out the Cocteau Twins, as musically I think they were an influence on Corgan- Heaven or Las Vegas. Great!
kylereece1979 Smashing Pumpkins has a rarities and B sides album, but this song is not on it :(
@floppydisk35 lol whatever.
@YYYxEEE whoops..my mistake :S
for some reason or other this one reminds me of "black hole sun" by teargarden....
anyone have tabs for this song?
i usually am not over impressed with the bass work in sp but i really like the bass in this song
Can i get that from you please?
i have it in FLAC, ill pm it to you.. anyone else want it pm me
If someone can tell me where I can get this in FLAC or 320 kbps mp3, I'd be extremely appreciative
so true
Well theres the new album that Corgan announced a week ago, "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope." Its more or less 44 songs that are going to be released as they're completed. That's the closest thing I know about.
thank you :)
the cd is called "rarities 3- the caroline years" and you can find it with torrent or something similar
could you tell me what the name of the un-official cd was called, and where it would most likely be available? I would appreciate it greatly.
Destiny Webb--S.P. SONGS like this one is soo sweet.. Too bad main stream S.P. fans will never hear this and others..oh well their loss lol
I couldn't have said it better mt friend. Indeed it is so amazing, and so beautiful. Makes me want to sway like a hippi lol.
OOhhhhh I love this song, so mellow and slinky. I am totally addicted.
as i have already mentioned in the terrapin video i got it from from an un-official compilation album of rarities and b-sides from the first pumpkin years
thanks for subscribing ;)
real dream like. no one does that better than the pumkins
