Sly & The Family Stone - Remember Who You Are Lyrics
When we know we are hearing
Everything we say
What they think they're feeling
Are the games they think we play
And if you're like nobody
Know you tried too hard to get along
Then you're only bein' yourself
Remember who you are
Remember, that's who you will be
Remember who you are
Remember, that's the person
Who's gonna be free
When things seem so hazy
The few that think it's crazy
Confused with peace of mind
They must know you're hearing
Everything they say
Giving you more of a reason
To keep on goin' your way
Remember who you are
Remember who you are
Remember who you are
Remember who you are
Flirtin' with what you shouldn't
Very little chance to grow
Hurtin' when you know you wouldn't
No win, no place, no show
Somebody else's medicine
Could be a poison to you
But you can always bet it some
'Cause when yon play yon play
Remember who you are
Remember who you are
Remember who you are
Remember who you are

After hours it was cool
The first sample of this song was by Prince on Ballad Of Dorothy Parker
Sample not.. replayed
after hours. tribe called quest
Yeah, the Tribe sample is an easy one. But the vocal sample (then after hours, it was cool) is Richard Pryor. *sticks out tongue*
Let's not forget the Sugarhill Gang sample also! Freak freak fu fu fu fun fun!!
Afteer hours it was cool YOU GOTTA
Grant Barnes GET OFF
Beat beat the funk the funk funk, beat beat the funk the funk fuuuuunnnkk
It's really impressive that the song Tribe did with this sample can hold it's own and is as good a song as the original.
I don't think Sly gets the credit he deserves. Lots of musicians owe him lots.
Sly should've kept it rockin' like Grateful Dead
I agree!
more important than the beatles
ya he and larry had a serious falling out. they had like, mafia wars and s^*t. ;)
how could even ONE person not "like" this.... weird. not "everyday" people up in heeya!
@ ROCKNROLLFAN, that's not Larry Graham on bass. Larry had his own thing going as a solo artist, when this was released. The person playing bass on this track was a protege of Larry Graham. His name is Keni Burke, from the group the Five Stairsteps.
as always.....4 words...LARRY GRAHAM ON BASS
Larry was long gone from the Family Stone by that point, ROCKNROLLFAN...he left the nest to form his own funk band, Graham Central Station, after a falling out with Sly.
omg this is brilliant.
Sly Stone the master...what else is there to say?...Sylvester was great!!!
Yea The Mischiefs are on it....
a tribe called quest
After hours
Sly was the KING of Cool---Genius--
This song has a certain SLYNESS to it...
