Sly & The Family Stone - Jane Is A Groupee Lyrics

Jane is a Groupee, ahhh
Jane makes whoopee, ahhh
She's got a thing for the guys in the band
Every musician's biggest fan

She claps her hands without a doubt
Has no idea what the song's about
She's too busy tryin to figure out
the shorter route
to take the drummer home

Hey Larry, what's your space
Said you'd teach me how to play the bass
Since we got a little time to waste
We might as well get it on

Front row tickets for the very next show
Organ dreams, many friends to know
She's the only reason the horns will blow
Playin her favorite song

Jane, Jane, Shame Shame

Jane is a Groupee, ahhh
Jane makes whoopee, ahhh
She's got a thing for the guys in the band
Every musician's biggest fan

Hey Freddie I like you
When you play the blues you make me blue
I'd like to go around with you too

Ever see a Jane in action
Different levels of satisfaction
Cause her to lose a fraction
Of her womanhood

Hey Sly you can score with me
You can write your songs upon my knee
And when you get through you can be with me

Jane, Jane, Shame Shame

Great band. Everyone is capable of singing and playing an instrument.

  2. I.... K....

    Psyhodelic funk rock))

A lot of people says that MJ got inspired from this song for dirty Diana. But nobody know that MJ recorded a song called “Jane is a groupee” too! The MJ song has a faster beat and is much more powerful vocally.

@Lounis Production Good info bro. Greetings from Chile.

I'd like to meet you then. This is not your average music

  6. I.... B....

Ever so cool tune! They wrote what they were living.

This song is clean!  Someone told me MJ most likely used this song as inspiration when putting together Dirty Diana. I've noticed both the hooks are very very similar, the songs are talking about the same type of woman, and the drum kick intro is identical. Hmm... Hard to say MJ's team never heard this song.

In any event, they are both great songs.

You could be right... I don't know if many people remember this, but Sly recorded for Epic Records as did MJ, and MJ is a 50% owner of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which I believe Sly's songs are part of.

    Moon chez lui !

  9. N.... B....

@SamBlob yeah i think he was influenced bu them.

  10. S.... ....

@ungodlyacts ...and I think Michael Jackson might have taken some lyrics from Sly Stone:

"She's got a thing for the guys in the band,"
("She likes the boys in the band, she knows when they come to town.")
    "Every musician's biggest fan."
(Every musician's fan after the curtain comes down.")

It'd be a small rip, but it looks like a rip nonetheless.

SamBlob I'd say no doubt almost but like was noted both great songs. It seems like a nod from MJ to SFS but I know musicians want redit and cash for their work. I'm not a pro just a good listener and don't know either band well. I was finding out who played the incredible guitar riffs on video of Dirty Dianna which unlike most MJ songs stirs the beast in me. That fkn guitar player is a savage. Beautiful shit to me and the way whoever it was swirling around with that guitar in all black in the video has every rock move ever in this one cut. Is that Steve Stevens?
