I think I heard a small bit of "Hot Fun In The Summer Times" at the end of the movie "Remember the Titans" (2001). The movie is about the story of the 1971 first season of racially integrated, non-segregated (students and coachs), football team at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia. The team (formed under federal mandate to integrate) won the State of Virginia High School Football Championship and was second at the USA Level that year.

Late August 1972.....on temporary duty duty in Aviano, Italy from England while in the USAF. Beautiful place, good time with good guys. Had to return to England to do my last 30 days in the USAF....hated to go back, even though I liked England. Loved the sunshine. But, I hadn't been home in 2 years and was looking forward to getting out and seeing my folks again. This song was one of the few American songs on the jukebox in the bar we went to at Aviano...summer days for sure and I was in love with a pretty Italian girl whose father owned the bar.....she didn't speak English and I didn't speak Italian but looks speak volumes :)

I love this 1969 original as well as Dayton's 1982 remake. In fact, I'm listening to both versions with the humidity being over 90° here in NYC.

I remember first hearing this song I was 5 years old living on 67th and normal at my first school Benjamin Banneker playing in the summer not a care in the world!
