Sly & The Family Stone - Everybody Is A Star Lyrics
Everybody is a star
Who could rain and chase the dust away
Everybody wants to shine
Who will come out on a cloudy day?
When the system tries to bring you down
Every had to shine at night
You don't need darkness to do what you think is right
Everybody is a star
I can feel it when you shine on me
I love you for who you are
Not the one you feel you need to be
Ever catch a falling star
Everybody is a star
One big circle goin round and round
Shine, shine, shine, shine

Truly inspiring song that keeps you grounded in real reality... Wow what else has as been lost over the decades besides obviously talent?

top rate song. never got the recognition it should have.. we loved it in Michigan, I can tell you that! to Sly Stone: believe me: your music will never be forgotten!!
TALK ABOUT A FEEL GOOD SONG!
70s classic
From a time when people of different colors were actually making attempts to reach beyond prejudice and get to know each other. Of course the gov't can't have people living in harmony, people might put 2 and 2 together and realize how the gov't controls us with fear.
They always had such upbeat songs with lyrics to match. Miss that kind of music.
Greetings from a black hole! ;-)
Nothing has change at all, Everybody is a Star. Still. Its still there, the world is tighter but trust us the stars are still there.
💖💖💖💖💖💖
I am here for Madonna
Love this family and band , love their music , thank you !
God bless this band and Sly Stone and this beautiful song. I look up to Sly Stone for inspiration in my life and in my music. He's a genius. A legend. The first and last name in funk for me. Sly and the Family Stone are one of the best bands that ever was. Easily. Sly Stone, one of the all-time greatest songwriters, is a true visionary genius with sublime, transcendent, and timeless music. That makes me all the more sad when I think about what happened to him, this legal nonsense, but he'll never be forgotten. Never. And I'll never stop listening to him.
precious cargo delivered.all is secure.
He was never able to top this, and it's no wonder. How do you surpass perfection? How crushing it must be to realize you can't, but that you'll be expected to try over and over again.
One of the best messages of hippie love and peace.
Red hot chili peppers - Europe by storm brought me here!
Oh yeah!!!
🥀One of the most Powerful Beautiful Songs I've ever heard in my life!My Mama use to play this album all the time I was raised right🥀☝️🥀

Sly ...another genius, prodigy..Best Woodstock performance hands down
Wow what a powerful message dealing with the human feelings, ego, self-esteem. The message is human equality, rich, poor, black, white the point is we are all human. None better none worse.
This song is everything!!!!!! One of my favorite songs!!!
My daddy love this song and the one that got me hipped to this group #85ersstand☝
Given such wonderful music and such good will that his songs reflected, i only wish there was a happier ending to this story.
I worked at a residential treatment center for Emotionally Disturbed teenagers, many of whom were abused and/or who were foster kids with significant challenges. In East Oakland as a crisis counselor in the mid-90s I had the pleasure to arrange "graduation" ceremonies in June (more than once!). Who knew that I could do a coup and get the Principal of the on-site school to usurp her "Pomp and Circumstances" bulls--t entry and exit and me sneak in "Everybody Is a Star" and "Stand" as the processionals. The crowd went fu-king wild. I stayed there for 21 years.
This is a beautiful story that should be told all over the world...and I mean that sincerely
So supremely good. Nothing but love and admiration for this jewel.
Everybody is or should be a protestar: Stop US from bullying Iran, then saying, "Hey, you people are acting badly....we may have to drop some bombs on you. " Play this song at every sports event, take a break from the Anthem.
Have loved this from day one. Great music back then, not the shit out there today.

the family stone
This song to me represents a time in my life (last years of college) when I really thought some great societal and global improvements were possible and even inevitable. That was before the end of the 70s / beginning of the 80s when dreams were crushed (or put back to what some call "realistic"). So this song always lifts my spirits, and it's my all time favorite song. I've listened to this song thousands of times, I don't know, it's still the top most played in my computer & iPhone "iTunes".
This song praises all people! Sly is a genius!
That is so true
If you catogorize people by color, you might need to take a HARD look at yourself. Back in the day, it was all about music.
real woke.
Sly and Brian Wilson are the most talented musicians of the rock and roll era (1955-1973)......
Beautiful just beautiful
Sly Stone "A LIVING LEGEND!!!"
The essence of soul...
COMPAIR THIS MASTERPIECE TO THE TOILET BOWL CRAPPY SONGS OF JAPFANNY COMPANIES OF TODAY. A CADILLAC TO A TRICYCLE.
Sacred Cows! Does this song bring back some great memories---the 60's when so much was possible until the power-elite spoiled the party.
Sly ‘s trademark secret . . . Everybody is a star . , . literally. . .
Sly & Family, thanks for the great memories of the late 60s & the early 70s. I'm on the 1st time machine back.

Every Man and Every Woman is a Star...Aleister Crowley
Great song! Sounds even better today..Sly was the man! What a great assemblage of musicians!!! They jammed Woodstock....made the early 70s fun times.
There is only one thing wrong with SATFS songs, they're not long enough.
there are so few perfect songs in the world, but this happens to be one of them for me!
In order, who is singing each verse?
Taft. Turner , Kinloch Mo, love this song
This a daily mantra! LOVE!
Male and female, black and white ..... so enlightened, so progressive, so ahead of their time.
amen! too bad we can't go back in time, before identity politics and mainstream media have done everything they can to make us hate one another... democrats vs. republicans, women vs. men, black vs. white. we're all people and we should heed the example from this wonderful group :)
@Chris - INA: Sorry for the delayed response. I never had an issue with the mainstream media. And our country's history pretty much doomed us to identity politics: Women couldn't vote, black people couldn't vote, poor people were (and sometimes still are) certainly discouraged from voting.
Put me back in Pontiac, circa early 1970. Cold as a well diggers ass, but good damn music never the same.
Loved, love, love it.
The chicken in the #8 is my favorite part! :) Whoooo-Hoooo-Hooooo----------Hoooooo-Hoooo-Hoooo!!
High school. Back to a time where black or white, we all were listening to the same music. There was rock, soul, Beatles, Supremes, Elton John, Jefferson Airplane...it was MUSIC. We had that in common. We don't anymore and that's a crying shame in my opinion. Music should be something enjoyable, memorable. Instead, the new stuff is about anger and hate. No thanks. I'll stick with my stuff from the late sixties and 70s.
@Willie Gordon I have been saying that all along. But there are exceptions. But in general ur expected to vibe to their jams but they basically stone cold to white music..all in general tho
@steven lennon Whatever you call it it's terrible, bunch of repetitive noise without a soul.
Today’s popular music is completely void of soul, jazz, and folk. It’s sad to see.
So well said Linda! That was the main reason I came to the 🇺🇸 because people were so united and I wanted to be part of it. So much talented groups nowadays it’s just that they give in to the same bit. So please continue posting more music and let’s share it with the new generation so they don’t have to resign themselves to violent lyrics.
Part of my early teens was in South America and everyone was crazy about James brown. We all wanted to dance just like him. So no in that part of the world all of the music that was famous here including James brown was well liked over there.
ROOTS brought me here
Actually from the Roots ' song, I thought the original was by Percy Sledge.
Happy 74th Sly.
Beautiful, life affirming and soulful song. The last of the classic optimistic hippie soul Sly & Family Stone songs, before his descent into a darker period.
Beautiful
what a band classic I started listen in to sly 1968 when I was 9 I'm 58 now and it's still great music and I'm white Italian nothing like it
Truly inspirational!
