Sleeping Giant - The Cross Is Suicide Lyrics

Welcome to the life.
We represent the trial;
The dead existence
Fallen!!
Don't look in our eyes.
They won't be seen again.
This is a former state
We're Non-existence.
No one else should know.
It's not for them to say,
Because we are called
The chosen few.
Now you can't escape.
But you realize you never really wanted to,
And strength fills your insides.

This cross is suicide.
We are suicide.
This cross is suicide.
We are suicide.

All should come and die;
Not for the symbol,
But for the one who is symbolized.
Our light is inside.
All else is darkness till the morning time,
Because the sun will rise.
This is suicide.
This bloody cross,
Where does it lead me?
To my own demise.
Where's your secret life?
You're gonna hide your face to be recognized.
You better recognize.

This cross is suicide.
We are suicide.
This cross is suicide.
We are suicide.

And they'll cry out "Let the mountains hide us, and the hills fall on us".
I'll stand tall with the strength inside from the spirit of truth.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Hide me from the justice of the lamb.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Hide me from the justice of the lamb.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Hide me from the justice of the lamb.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Hide me from the justice of the lamb.
Let the earth swallow me whole.
Hide me from the justice of the lamb.

    Guitar intro I'm loving it

So the message is Christianity is racial suicide? Sounds right. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Satanism, what's the difference? They all want to dominate this earthly realm.

If this isn't the heaviest song I've ever heard I don't know what heavy is

Listen to: "The army of the Chosen one"

Why I love Christian hardcore. "Now you can't escape, but you realize you never really wanted to." They just explained two foundational doctrines of the Reformed tradition: the perseverance of the saints and irresistible grace. This song is so inspired by the Calvinist tradition, and I love it.
Oh, and it sounds cool, too. Can't forget that.

Jesus knew his mission, and went forth in our terms SUICIDE, So the Cross is Suicide. He achieved for our sins to be forgiven. Now ask yourself could you have done the same knowing the out come? Jesus did ... in our form and cried and prayed at a stone befor capture. Such power in his name and blood. Jahovah WILL , will be done soon. Then the devil will lose twice. BOW down Satan to your master, In Jesus Christ name. Satan is temporary, Jahovah is Forever.

Maybe I can help the person who last replied. There are two types of differences of opinion in good Christian churches. Some people believe God will come down from Heaven before the terrible things occur we read about in prophecy and take His church home to be with Him, and then the wrath we read about, such as in Revelation, happens. Others believe we will suffer some before He comes for us. I can list you several verses that support both positions, and will if you like. The important thing is these are what we call "in house debates", or another way of saying it is true believers in Christ often see this doctrine differently. I believe there are good men and women of God who do not see this study, often referred to as Eschatology, the same way. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, there is nothing to fear if we are wrong about this. The problem arises, in my opinion, when good Christian people refuse to fellowship with others who hold a different position. No matter which you believe, you are still a believer if you accept Jesus as your Savior, no matter what position you take on this, and you salvation is just as sure as anyone who may not agree with you. I have been saved over 40 years, and my heart goes out to those who are confused on these points - and the truth is, sometimes I am not certain which way God will do it, but I know I am His child and am safe in Him.

My advice is stay with what you believe - it is good doctrine. If you want to know more, feel free to ask and I can tell you more, or suggest good bible teachers. In sort, however, if you are secure in you belief on how God will bring things to a close, its fine to just wait and see. God has given us all gifts to use while we are here, and some are gifted in knowing doctrine differences like this, and some are more gifted in other areas.

Messaged me anytime, and God Bless You, my Brother!

the part "hide me from the justice of the lamb" ...i dont know what i should think about this because i´m not afraid of the judgement, since jesus lives in me and my sins are forgiven so i´m righteous before him. or can someone explain to me what this means? i´m german and maybe i missed something here :) god bless!

    K.... ....

It's not talking about Christians in that part, it's talking about the people on judgement day who didn't believe, that's what they will say. The Bible says they would rather have mountains fall on them and be crushed than judged by God. That is what that particular section is talking about. hope that helped.

    K.... ....

    thank you brother :) blessings!

    K.... ....

    I'm a girl, but your welcome. ;)

    K.... ....

oh sorry :D well i was tired xD god bless you sister :)

    K.... ....

    Thanks. ;)

I personally think this song is about how Jesus knew He was going to die on the Cross, and how we know we need to die to ourselves. Therefore it our culture we'd say that Jesus was going in for a suicide by the Cross, and we know we have to die to ourselves therefore committing suicide spiritually.

    E.... W....

thanks for the explanation. I had no idea what it meant. ;)

  11. J.... V....

    THAT S RIGHT

  12. R.... ....

*missing* has anyone seen my ear drums? I can't find them and I need them I don't think listening to this song 100000000 times with the volume all the way up with head phones was a good idea but well worth it

    R.... ....

    yes its worth it

  13. I.... G....

    oh these guys OWN

  14. J.... S....

    Oh wow awsome song

  15. A.... w....

This song may sound weird but what it teaches is true, when u become a Christian u die to yourself, when you are a Christian you will be persecuted you may even die but when we choose to believe in Jesus after he draws us, we are saying I am willing to DIE. And Christians in forgein countries definitely would know this. To follow Jesus could be a one way ticket to death but that ticket takes u right through heavens gates

    Shalom

  16. M.... D....

Well I'm glad there saying the truth and their hardcore which is what I got into lately.

  17. T.... R....

the cross is suicide????......im so confused, these men say they are men of god right?.....the cross is a powerful thing, TO ME IT IS A SIGN OF MY SAVIOR, the son of god.....I MUST BE TAKING THIS SONG THE WRONG WAY....can anyone explain?

    T.... R....

THE RONNIE J SHOW He’s saying that those who have taken up their crosses and followed as He asked them to have died to their self-identification... They acknowledge no responsibility for the fruits of their works and instead attribute them as being a consequence of God’s goodness manifesting in their lives; They know no glorification because they choose to exalt their Brother of All Brothers whom it was that has taken upon themselves to sacrifice their own entirely virtuous life for that of even the lowliest and most unrepentant sinners to provide them the means of having His Mark of Innocence despite having led a life totally undeserving of such a unique title

    T.... R....

jecspm04 plus we're dead meat in the world when we follow Christ, since they don't know Him they don't know us

    T.... R....

Christ said in order for us to follow him we must die to ourselves. When we become born again and baptized we kill the old us with the cross. The bible say if anyone tries to save their own lives will lose it. If anyone gives up his life for his name sake will find it. This band say this cross is suicide is saying this as a metaphor. When we except Jesus as our lord and savior we are committing our old self to suicide. Because jesus took the old self to the cross. That why this cross is suicide.

    T.... R....

I interpret that the cross is suicide. ISV Luke 9:14: because whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

  18. t.... ....

    it aint easy beein cheesy.

  19. D.... ....

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot. Read up on Jim Elliot and how his death was used by God.

  20. M.... ....

Mmmmmmmm cheeeeeese. I love cheese almost as much as I love Jesus.

  21. n.... n....

umm you could try there old stuff like army of the chosen one or morningstar and if you bring up those ones it will find more of there old stuff

  22. d.... ....

    Cheesy jesus lyrics are cheesy

  23. B.... S....

The song is about dying physically and throwing away the lusts of the flesh. The Bible says to take up our cross daily and kill ourselves so that we can TRULY live. That's the message of the song. It's not saying "If you believe in the cross you are screwed" or anything like that. Sleeping Giant was amazing, saw them last night in concert. POWERFUL.

  24. J.... L....

can't wait to worship with them in Heaven!

  25. R.... E....

Whoever wants to save his life must lose it for my sake. -Jesus

  26. M.... ....

I can't get any homework done listening to these guys. The message keeps pulling my attention away

  27. L.... H....

In "Eyes Wide Open" the "Screams" are from Frankie Palmeri.
The rest of their vocals are really shouts, I guess. But they're by no means clean vocals.

  28. M.... E....

tommy owns jake luhrs when it comes to lyrics.

  29. M.... ....

I'm new to Sleeping Giant. They have amazing riffs and excellent lyrics, but does anyone know any songs beside, "Eyes Wide Open" where they actually scream instead of just use clean vocals?

  30. G.... ....

i believe that when he says "this cross is suicide". i think he's trying to show what a worldly person would think about our job as christians

  31. m.... ....

Suicide, in this case, could represent spreading the Word in places that are very hostile about other belief systems (you'll find a lot of that in other countries in the Middle East especially). So, if God tells you to go there to testify, you go there. To any other person, they may say, "that's suicide!!" But we know that it is a sacrifice, which is different in our understanding compared to theirs.

  32. B.... W....

this song is so annointed...i can barely keep my eyes open -_- high on Jesus!

  33. b.... ....

Yes god Bless :) when he sais Hide me from the justice of the Lamb Jesus,God, and the holy ghost. he is saying i amsaved and I AM NOT GOIENG TO BE SET TO HELL BUT SAVED TO HEVAEN! hope i helped some Travis

  34. A.... B....

    You better recognize! ;p

  35. B.... ....

@shanehiramcore They are a very faith based band. but it is not because every song they make is about Christianity. But because each member of the band has a strong and faith based relationship with God, then they use the gifts God gave them to glorify Him.

  36. S.... C....

@yoyoyoyorobert1 they are a VERY strongly faith based band. Every song is about Christianity.

  37. m.... ....

People are so afraid to talk about this. Props to SG for writing this!!! Great band and song and message!

  38. S.... ....

Well, we know that Jesus gave His life willingly, no one really took His life. Can we call it suicide?
I typed Suicide Definition in Google and got surprised.

    1. the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally especially by a person of years of discretion and of sound mind

    2. one that commits or attempts suicide

So, yes, i think we can call it that way...

  39. y.... ....

@andraegv79 well that cleared it up, thanks.

  40. a.... ....

It means that when we take up our cross to follow Christ, we site to ourselves. Jesus said that if we lose our life, we will find our with His. And Romans says that we must identify with the death Christ before we can ever identify with His life. And Galatians says that we have been crucified eith Christ, and we longer live. When we choose tokay down our own life, we are committing a type of suicide - death by choice.

    a.... ....

8 years later and I still say Amen to that!!!!

  41. y.... ....

Does anyone know what exactly they mean by "the cross is suicide"? i know they`re a christian band but that sounds like a pretty bold statement...

  42. A.... I....

the band is great, the vocalist just fucking sucks. He sounds like he was trying to sing a high note a missed it.

  43. J.... ....

@SeaJayRiley Sorry about the cut offs on the sides i didn't see them in my video maker.
