Sleater-Kinney - Broken Lyrics

Deep, deep, deep run the feelings
Rolling inside my mind
Keep, keep, keep it together
Afraid to let them fly

I really can't fall apart right now
I really can't touch that place
Thought I was all grown up right now
I really can't show you that face

But I'm breaking in two
But I'm breaking inside
But I'm breaking in two
'Cause I'm broken inside

She, she, she stood up for us
When she testified
Me, me too
My body cried out when she spoke those lines

I really can't fall apart right now
But it hits me too close to the bone
I thought I was all grown up right now
But I feel like I'll never be done

But I'm breaking in two
But I'm breaking inside
But I'm breaking for you
All the ways that we tried
But I'm breaking in two
Never feeling alright
But I'm breaking in two
'Cause I'm broken inside

I can't stop listening to this. So raw. I loved this song already and then just found out last night from my husband that it was written about Christine Blasey Ford. Damn, it hit me in an entirely different place and then I just cried the next few times listening to it. The part about thinking you were all grown up by now, like can't I just "grow up" and get past it....

You can hear the st Vincent influence here

    very good girls

One of the best from the album definitely. Reminds me of a late 80s/90s ballad but can't figure out which one.

This hits so hard. It feels real raw and powerful. It's screaming about the fears and Injustice that's so many women face all wrapped up in a soft tempo calm song as if to just reinforce the fact that women have to stay calm and never get emotional when it comes to these things if they want to be believed and even then it might not be enough... God damn it why didn't I hear about this band sooner anyways thank u NPR for doing a story on this band because I think they might be my new favorite
