Sleaford Mods - Silly Me Lyrics

And then the crap kicks in
Makes everything go thin
Lost out, square one grout
Weather bangs on my door
Experts come out, the dud work
Chirping on about, ya music moves
You run a crap club in Brum, you lose
I won, I won

Silent dreams are a blag on time
They get away with the worst crimes
You fall fast in a void of pain
Only to remember that you still remain
Death defying voices die
Ain't no beacon in the sound guy
You fall fast in a void of pain
Only to remember that you still remain
Still remain, still remain

Silly man, don't win, he's got a gob on him
He talks about my life in strife, why?
He doesn't know me or my wife or kid
He needs to shut his lid
I got belly pork sliding off me
Choose the menu and got blanked by you

Silly me
Silly you
Silly me

Silent dreams are a blag on time
They get away with the worst crimes
You fall fast in a void of pain
Only to remember that you still remain
Death defying voices die
Ain't no beacon in the sound guy
You fall fast in a void of pain
Only to remember that you still remain
Still remain, still remain
Still remain, still remain

The dud work bench is chipped up, ripped up slime
The dud work bench is a ticket and the ticket is mine
The dud work bench is chipped up, ripped up slime
The dud work bench is a ticket and the ticket is mine

All mine
It's mine
All mine

  9. midnightmosesuk

I'm 52, and this music speaks to me. Just goes to show how these blokes have tapped into a spring of universal experience. They speak for young and old(er), the struggle of being a part of the ignored working classes in Britain is the same for everyone. They look like us, they speak like us and they feel the same anger as us. Because they are us.

    claire turner

midnightmosesuk couldn’t agree more with you!!

  12. MrMmnngghh

Reminds me a bit of "Wrote For Luck" by the Happy Mondays...can't quite put my finger on why...might be the sleaze coating that works so well.

  13. Jungle Theme

PLEASE CAN WE HAVE A FREAKING DECENT COPY OF "JUST LIKE WE DO?" fill it full of ads if you want but please can we have a studio version of it.

  14. Saraiva Toledo

I hear the lack of Sleaford Mods footage at the QAwards is cause the Gallagher bros took some unresponded liberties on Mr. Williamson . Not trying to stir any shit up or anything ,just curious, too many rumours regarding this circling about.

  15. KelmscottPreRaph

Loving the Sleaford Mods, hearing loads of John Cooper Clarke in this track!

    inertia27

    yawn..lazy comparison..really nothing like JCC

    Arriving Arriving

@inertia27I agree, but then if the comment alerts someone to Dr Clarke it's probably a good thing.

    turgid fungus

what?? you got loads of amazing music in US . Hip-Hop ,punk, techno everything originated there .American black community invented everything thats amazing tbh .Go dig some crates .

    Samuel Ellis

So much great music comes from the US. But expressing the crapness of modern life in a harsh, unsentimental way: that's something that UK culture has often done better.
Which is why many Americans get frustrated with their own culture, and turn to music and screen culture from across the pond for something that resonates in a different way. Not better in every way, just...different.
I admire a great deal about American music and screen, but I feel you don't see as much social realism, that total honesty. There is often a veneer of grunginess, but still plenty of glamor. Too much polish, even when an artist is trying to tell the truth the way they see it. Even when American shows try to be brutal and harsh, they still look too good, too stylish. Still love a lot of American culture though.
TLDR: many people, including many Americans are a bit afraid to look at things as they really are, so they consume stuff that doesn't go all the way.

    John Mulligan

    Sage Francis, B Dolan

    Trevor McDonald

This good shit exists for all ! Music is for the people of the world, as long as it continues to exist thats the important thing 😎✌

    MrMmnngghh

@John Mulligan as much as I like Sage Francis - he was excellent live when he came to Australia - I'm not sure if he's quite as consistent as these chaps.

  25. EE NO TA NA

H.A. Goodman brought me here! 👊😎

    ᙅYᙖᙓᖇ ᗪOᙅ™

Same here. :-) Going to check out some of their other stuff because this one reminds me to much of A Canadian Band, _The Guess Who._ When you listen to this, hear American Woman in the back of your mind. Almost a clear rip-off.

    Flesh Robe

    ᙅYᙖᙓᖇ ᗪOᙅ™
Nope I don't hear The Guess Who.
    I have to disagree.
Although I've only been listening and performing music for almost 40 years so maybe I'm out of the loop.
I think they're a unique band with something to say.
    Best regards.

  40. Nervous Curtains

The long tunnel with no light at the end, indeed.

  41. Peter Nolan Smith

bass line - ball of confusion the temptations

    Ross Rohan

+Peter Nolan Smith I'm a bit of a geek re their influences, who they're looping, beats they're jumping on, etc. Much easier with their earlier stuff. Anyhow, yes, well spotted mate.

    Nelson Dugluss

No it's not sounds nothing like the bass on that song.

    Artūras Bazys

Sorry man, but the bassline is quite different. only the first few notes are the same, also it's different rhythmwise. You could say they are similar but definitely not the same.

    ArGh

There’s beat reference in every single song I think.

  42. Ross Rohan

Nicely made vid this is. Such a crisp look and feel to it, and it really captures their vibe. Spot on tune from a spot on album... 'You fall fast and avoid the pain/only to remember that you still remain/still remain/still remain/still remain...' If there's a more relevant, interesting and engaging band out there, can someone please tell me who they are.
