Slade - We Won't Give In Lyrics

What do you do when they don't understand ya
What do you do to try and make this town
What do you say now to the man who brands ya
And tries to shoot you down

I'm never gonna give no I don't give in
I'm never gonna give cos I gotta win
Never ever gonna take anymore from those
Who shoot you down

What do you do when it don't go too easy
Nothing is easy in a crazy town
Nobody nowhere has got all the answers
They tried to shoot you down

I'm never gonna give no I don't give in
I'm never gonna give cos I gotta win
Never ever gonna take anymore from those
Who shoot you down

I'm never gonna give no I won't give in
Never ever gonna give cos I fight to win
Never ever gonna take anymore from those
Who shoot you down - Who shoot you down

We're never gonna give no we don't give in
We're never gonna give cos we gotta win
Never ever gonna take anymore from those
Who shoot you down

We're never gonna give no we don't give in
Never ever gonna give up the fight to win
Never ever gonna take anymore from those
Who shoot you down - Who shoot you down - Shoot you down

  17. g.... ....

So I just heard this band called Slade? They're pretty awesome. Perfect mid-80s rock. This guy/band aren't "amazing" but they have a hook for every song. This guy is a music writing genius

    g.... ....

+TekNeez They were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s with 6 UK number 1 hits.

    g.... ....

+TekNeez Where in the Hell have you been ?

    g.... ....

Hey, it doesn't matter where he has been, he has just stumbled upon the best and most underrated band ever. The luckiest day of his life.

    g.... ....

Yes, they were, weren't they. Amazing that they never made it big here in USA. Seems most Americans just laugh at them. I have to laugh at them at times but when I laugh it's all done in love.

  18. P.... B....

Quasiment la dernière apparition de Noddy avec Slade avant sa retraite ?

  19. h.... ....

    I love this band!!!!!!!!

  20. b.... ....

Strong sympathy there Mandy. Noticed them when Look Wot U Dun was out.Been my fave band ever since, by a mile! Genuinely great songs that don't sound dated the older they get. Would love to see the great 4 back on stage together but I'd be so nervous for them after all these years. An unplugged 'Audience with Slade' TV thing would be a good. If that worked for them then a few shows in the midlands would be wonderful. Remember The Wolverhampton Fiesta? Something like that. We can but dream.

  21. A.... S....

Hi bigmagic, I never knew the song was a hint at Chas Chandler. Was that ever admitted publicly?

  22. b.... ....

Always happy to get a message from the Slade faithful Mandy.

The album YBMBN was glorious but this wasn't my fave track, it was a bit too smooth for my liking, it knocked Chas and was not right for a Xmas release. After being in the Slade fan club and supporting them solidly to this day It wasn't right to publicly knock Chas on record even if he did 'try to shoot them down.' Anyway, still love em and do genuinely think they were the best ever.
Hoping Don's biog will finally be out soon too.

  23. m.... b....

its such a shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved. also, didn't realised id already replied on this...& done it again lol....well, it deserves it....

  24. m.... b....

    this song is AWSOME..,.....

  25. J.... P....

Another hidden gem, never tire from listening to Nod and boys......memo, Mal left group now so not sure if playing in Finland now?

  26. T.... N....

To Mandy & ewerybody: SLADE is coming to Finland (Joensuu) at 12.o7.2013.
There's a big whole weekend festival. Wellcome all of ya!

  27. b.... ....

    Hi Mandy.
Agreed, Harmony, Still The Same, The Roaring Silence, Ooh La La in L.A., Cest La Vie were all glorious, Still The Same rivals Look At Last Nite as Slade's finest ever song, indeed rock / pop's finest ever song.
    Regards, BM

  28. s.... ....

Sounds like a Nik Kershaw rip-off

  29. m.... b....

i LOVE this tune. slades latter songs werent recognised enough......some of their best was released later than their 'fame' years.....sad.

  30. m.... b....

slade have been my idols since 1971....they were never recognised enough for their immense talent. just wish they reform for a few concerts.....

  31. b.... ....

Too sad to bear I'm afraid. This should not have been released as a single. I remember it being played on Radio 1s Round Table and Noddy saying it was a good un. Fraid I was disappointed. It got lost anyway and didn't trouble charts. Very sad indeed but the album was quite simply wonderful and was briefly my favourite Slade album back then. Glad it seems to be appreciated now though.
    LLTMS!!

  32. T.... ....

The last days of the mighty Slade machine and watching this reminds me of how damned hard they tried to get a single that would sell, even to the point that their very credibility as a writing force has sadly suffered when casual music admirers look back. Most today don't realize that for Slade a hit record was the ONLY way to ensure them ANY bookings of concert halls, unlike today where bands can charge 40 quid having not had a hit in the thirty years since this band called it a day!Sad eh?

  33. s.... ....

    did Nik Kershaw write this?

  34. s.... ....

    They gave in

  35. A.... S....

Another underrated but great song. A fine Slade anthem in it's own right. Shame that the single never took off, perhaps for the simple reason that the single had little promotion, particularly with the fact that RCA were no longer behind it.

Gay Marriage Approved by New York Senate

Lawmakers voted late Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples can wed, and giving the national gay-rights movement new momentum from the state where it was born.

The same-sex marriage bill was approved on a 33 to 29 vote. The Senate galleries were so packed with supporters and opponents that the fire marshals closed them off.

  37. e.... ....

    @carlphone

Unbelievable. I seem to find a new one every day, and I never get tired of them.

  38. c.... ....

@eveningtsar O.K. I see, you are absolutely right... Cheers!
Isn t it incredible how many real tunes Slade engineered in so many popstyles???

  39. e.... ....

    @carlphone

Don't worry: didn't even read the comment. Can't even see it now. He's been at it a long time and he's mistaken if he thinks I'll waste my time on him.

In the meantime, let's enjoy the vid again!
"Never gonna take any more from those who shoot you down."

  40. c.... ....

@eveningtsar Don t feed the Teddingtroll, he is a tosser.

  41. e.... ....

I am amazed how much spare time these trolls seem to have. At least they increase the hit counter. . .

  42. b.... ....

@marlo1942 Hi Marlo. Great that you saw The Mighty Slade back then, would you mind telling us more about it? Thanks,BM

  43. p.... ....

@teddingtontcu And there you go again, you said comment removed? Where did I remove what?
Sorry Mr. NoNo nobody here is interested in your "commands" or education or any other crap. For education I will turn to the people who know something about music. I rather stick with the opinions of Noel Gallagher, Brian May, Gene Simmons, John Lennon etc. I am sure your Ian Dury and Led Zep also have a higher opinion of Slade, huh?
So don t forget to tell when we meet the 10th of next month O.K.? Hahaha

  44. s.... c....

    purro rock,n,roll!

  45. e.... ....

Seems a trifle slower than the lp version. Maybe it's my imagination. I still find this song utterly inspiring and play it every time I'm feeling down. It never fails to uplift.

  46. c.... ....

@juliedavis64 EXACTLY! Slade is the most developed band of all time with so many great tunes and have played so many popstyles, and yet these 'legends' still outsold Slade big.

  47. R.... L....

im a big slade fan but this song well aint great

  48. J.... B....

I am 17 but I'm sure I would have become a fan sooner if Slade were more popular in the U.S. Most of my friends have never even heard of Slade.

  49. W.... ....

They don't know anything about GOOD music ;) great to see someone so young Slade fan! I became fan when I was 12 ;) now been a huge fan 6 years!

  50. v.... ....

    Great song!
For all groups and all times!

  51. e.... ....

Without a doubt, my favorate Slade song, and that's saying alot!

" Never take any more from those who shoot you down!"

  52. S.... B....

The song was in the 80's film Knights and Emeralds

  53. D.... ....

Is it just me, or does the lead singer bare an uncanny resemblence to Michael Cane?

  54. R.... C....

    Thanks alot!
That is one record don't have with Slade!

  55. G.... ....

It is from 'You Boyz Make Big Noize' from 1987.

  56. R.... C....

Once more a number I never heard befopre with Slade.
    Which record is it from?

  57. S.... ....

they will pwrform in my country this april - in Lithuania :)

  58. M.... W....

Was lucky enough to see Slade when they played New York in the early '70's. Always been a huge fan -- thanks for sharing this video!!

  59. P.... C....

    I always liked this one.

  60. P.... C....

You mean "Wouldn't It Be Good?"

It's got the same groove, but the tune's different enough.

  61. P.... C....

    Really? Which Kershaw tune?

  62. D.... S....

jamais vu ce passage tv bof. bon morceau et bonnes paroles (surtout dans leur cas à l'époque). pas inoubliable!!

  63. m.... ....

this one always annoyed me cos it was basically a
    Nik Kershaw tune;-)
    ta for posting though
