Slade - The Shape Of Things To Come Lyrics

There's a new sun
Rising up in the sky
There's a new voice
Crying without afraid to die

Let the old one
Make believe it's blind and deaf and dumb
But nothing can change the shape of things to come

There are changes
Lying ahead on every road
There are new thoughts
Ready and waiting to explode
When tomorrow is today
The bells made all fuzz up
But nothing can change the shape of things to come

The future's coming on now sweet and strong
And no-one gonna hold it back for long

There are young dreams
Crowding out old realities
Revolutions
Sweeping in like a fresh new breeze

Let the old one
Make believe it's blind and deaf and dumb
Nothing can change the shape of things,
Nothing can change the shape of things,
Nothing can change the shape of things,
Nothing can change the shape of things,
Nothing can change the shape of things to come

I'm 14 all over again. In reality I'm 62, But in Slade time I'm a rocking teenager. Who's up for the next one ?

  2. Howard Leech

This was Slade before the Glam Rock period because their Manager said that the mod look was going to work.

    Chaos Magician

I moved over to The Jam when Sade changed their image.

  3. jeff hammers

Slade or the Ramones don't do this song justice....go back to Max Frost boys

  4. t .byrne

  5. robert harding

In the 60's we had the Beatles, In the 70's we had Slade, What more do you want ?.

Easily their best song in the very early years

    Paul Caporino

Better than the original version from the movie Wild In The Streets.

    Peter Hammer

Easily one of their best songs in all era. I love Play it Loud, much better than the pop stuff afterwards.

  13. mark kneil

    Brilliant album

  14. hudois

This is much better than the stuff on their hits. However this is a cover version; the original is by Max Frost and The Troopers. This a pretty good version, but Max's original version is better

    Andrew Morgan

YES! The Ramones do a cover too.

    John LaFleur

I only knew of the Max Frost version. This one is pretty good. Not as good as the original.

    Keith Gordon

Thanks for telling us the original artist.

  15. Darren Moore

If  this  song   teaches  us  anything  it  is  that   life  can  be more  than  just
    a dream .

    Rob Harding

Absolutely, depends how bad you want it, Some band, these guys were.made my young life a blast.

  16. Seamus McQuaid

I remember seeing this on tops of pops I think, they were all dressed as skinheads and at the time I thought they are good. Wish they had made more stuff like this it was bit edgy and street for its time, but then I am talking about nearly 45 years ago. It was great to hear it again and reconnect with my youth.

    Judy Newton

Agree! I was obsessed with them in the 70's when I was a teenager! Awesome musicians and live band too! Stompin' my boots!!

  17. D Taylor
