Slade - Gypsy Roadhog Lyrics

I powdered my nose in Alabama - Out on a limb
Powdered my nose in Indiana - Ain't that a sin
I had to get my butt out quick
It always works - the old, old trick
I got away just in the nick of time, that's why

I powdered my nose in Oklahoma - Over the top
I wasted away in New Orleans - I couldn't stop
Down in the alley - happy dust
Me and Romona we was gettin' bust
I got away just in the nick of time, that's why

I got the nickname the Gypsy Roadhog
On the California trail
I gotta keep my wheels movin' on
I gotta keep me outa jail

Powdered my nose in San Francisco down on the bay
It went to my head down in New York City
I was blasted away
And two ugly scuts bust in the room
They took away my little silver spoon
I got away just in the nick of time, that's why

[CHORUS]

I'm comin' through, through, through
I'm looking for you

Although Slade never broke out in America, I believe they deserve a spot in the Rock b's Roll hall of fame just for their influence alone.

Most people think Slade wasted their time trying to break America. For them it probably wasn't what they wanted or deserve, but bands such as Kids,Twisted Sister,Quiot Riot.Gave them respect for their influence.meant Kiss
Their 80's albums were ace too.Kamikaze Syndrome.Till deaf do us part .Need I go on.Their 70's albums were phenomenal ie Slade in flame.Old new borrowed and blue even Nobody's Fool.Plus anything live.

As a huge fan of Slade, I have to say that this was one of their very worst ever releases.

I like this song, sort of has a motorcycle riding feel to it. I thought it was better then a few of the singles off of Nobody's Fool Album(although I loved the title track from that album) and a bunch of the late 70s singles(The ones after give us a Goal, although Okey Cokey is somewhat amusing)

I would also add I think Whatever Happened to Slade was one of their stronger albums from start to finish

    SLADE IS SLADE !

I agree. This song deserved to significantly chart . I am biased because I'm still a massive Slade fan. The musicianship was always top notch; a permanent fixture in music history, God bless 'em all.
