Slade - Good Time Gals Lyrics

I wanted to be a sailor
I wanted to be a star
I wanted to show the colder broads how hot cookin’ they are

I wanted to suck your candy, I wanted to smell your barn
I wanted to turn your headlights on, how hot cookin’ they are

So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - wooo
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - hey
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - woh ho

I wanted to give you diamonds - I wanted to wear your clothes
I wanted to touch your dream machine, in there anything goes!
I wanted to be a singer, I wanted to be a star
I wanted to show myself to them, how hot cookin’ they are
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - yeah hay
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - wo ho ho
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life -
gimme the love for once in my life
I wanted to be a sailor
I wanted to be a star
I wanted to find your dream machine- how hot cookin’ they are
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - give it me
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life - that's what I want
I want some good time gals to love the rest of my life - gimme, gimme, gimme,
gimme
Good time gals to love the rest of my life - gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme
Good time gals to love the rest of my life - whooo!
So give me good time gals to love the rest of my life

I make no apology for my constant posts about this great band, I'm not long for this world, So before I go, I want the world to know I loved my family more than anything in the whole world, But I have a confession to make, This band Slade came a very close second. be good !

  8. Rob Harding

We all like a good time girl, Well most of us that is. But I reckon we all love this 70's band like we loved our own mothers, , or fathers. Well you get my meaning.

    Rob Harding

Well of course we do, This band Slade, Well they were just untouchable, back in the supersonic 70's.. Wish I could be a teenager all over again.I would definitely take advantage of a few missed opportunities,. xx

  20. robert harding

Love those lyrics ! typical Lea Holder, what a class act they were !!!

  21. robert harding

Is there a intro to a Slade song that you have heard before ? I think not !!

    Clive Bindley

Yes. 2. Lock Up Your Daughters the riff was a steal from Whitesnake's Fool For Your Lovin;. ( or possibly Don't Break My Heart Again, definitely Whitesnake anyway ) And Gypsy Road Hog riff was pure Status Quo.

  22. bigmagic96

A lesson in how to riff, a lesson in songwriting, a lesson in how to rock. The best by a mile!!!

  23. jtange08 granny

    BleedBNG

Same here. What's with the new blue something title?

    Luis Lopes

@BleedBNG , Stomp your Hands, Clap your Feet was the American/Canada release of the original UK and rest of world Old New Borrowed and Blue Lp.

Keep on rockin with the mighty ones Lenny, you are in GREAT company. Regards from England!!

  32. Leandro Ciasca

Exactly, what a RIFF! The whole album is incredible...

  33. Leandro Ciasca

    That's great - keep rockin'!

  34. Leandro Ciasca

WOW - that's great, Mark! I've been in your lovely CANADA (in the province of ONTARIO), but never could attend a SLADE gig. Lucky you!

  35. Mark Perry

Great album, great band. I saw Slade on the NOBODY's FOOLS tour in 1976 in the Canadian city of Winnipeg in the province of Manitoba, the only time I think they ever came to Canada.

  36. bigmagic96

Have learned to play the opening riff on my Telecaster. I sound awesome !!!!!!
    :)
    LLTMS!!

  37. bigmagic96

Great song from a great album..... and what a riff!!!!!!
    LLTMS!!

  38. Leandro Ciasca

    CHEERS, MATE!

  39. Leandro Ciasca

Well, you should DEFINITELY persue that dream of yours, NYC is absolutely FANTASTIC! The world's best city, in my opinion (and I've been around a little). The SOO sounds like a cool place, too! Hey, I'm 39 and also not getting any younger, but I'm still rockin'...

  40. Leandro Ciasca

Really, are you from ONTARIO? What a coincidence! And talking about driving 9 hours or so, well, I was in NEW YORK city and drove to NIAGARA FALLS about 10 hours, too. Lovely trip! I never attended one of their gigs, but I'm sure I would love to see them performing. There's a new line-up still touring as SLADE, but mainly in EUROPE, I think. I saw KISS (twice), AC/DC (twice) and BLACK SABBATH (once), but never had the chance to see WHO, which is also one of my favorite bands. Keep On Rockin'!

  41. Leandro Ciasca

CANADA is absolutely GORGEOUS! I've been last year in the province of ONTARIO, visiting amazing places like NIAGARA FALLS, NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE and TORONTO - wow! And yes, SLADE was part of the soundtrack to my CANADIAN road trip...

  42. Leandro Ciasca

A friend of mine showed me their music back in 1987, I'm hooked since then - greetings from BRAZIL!

    Seth Cathinone 5F-ADB

I love it! First heard in 1987 too. I was 13!

  43. Leandro Ciasca

Indeed, I absolutely LOVE them all...

  44. bigmagic96

Yeah, I suppose after all this time you are right. As far as I'm concerned any of the first nine albums could be called their best.

  45. Leandro Ciasca

You won't EVER be able to decide, mate, and that's the beauty of it...

  46. bigmagic96

    Hi Lenny.
When asked which is my favourite Slade album this one is usually the first to come to mind. I still haven't come to decision but this one is favourite.

  47. Leandro Ciasca

Yep, probably my favorite track from OLD, NEW, BORROWED AND BLUE. But it's always hard to choose a favorite song among so many good tunes...

  48. Leandro Ciasca

Well, I'd love to attend a gig of any SLADE line-up, but they never came to BRAZIL, and whenever I'm abroad, I also don't find them at the same places where I am...maybe one day!

  49. bigmagic96

Good on yer. Lenny. Fluff would be pleased!

  50. bigmagic96

Hi Lenny. Yes I like the current line-up. They get a bit of stick but it's not Mal's or John's fault they are not Nod and Jim. Have seen them a few times and have enjoyed them immensly. The 90s line-up was great too. Listen to the album Keep On Rockin, it's superb.

  51. Leandro Ciasca

Hey, thanks for that piece of info. I know who was ALAN FREEMAN, or FLUFF, as you call him. But I didn't know that expression, it's always great to learn new things...I'm gonna start using that saying too.

  52. Leandro Ciasca

I totally agree with you, this song would be a live killer - no doubts! It's one of my favorites. How about this current SLADE lineup? I know they're still performing. Do you like it?

  53. bigmagic96

Any Slade fans out there think this would have been a live killer? I always wanted them to put this in the show as it is one of their songs they could have extended or kept simple to equally great effect. I know the Reading performance is now legendary and could not have gone much better for them but with this as an encore both crowd and successive bands would have thought rock music just doesn't get any better than this and gone home.
    Long live The Mighty Slade!!

  54. bigmagic96

Means I absolutely agree with you mate. It's a saying we have here popularised by a DJ named Alan Freeman, or Fluff as he was better known. When we agree we say, 'Not half mate'.
    LLTMS!!

  55. Leandro Ciasca

    What?

  56. bigmagic96

Gets better every time you hear it.
Long live The Mighty Slade !!

  57. bigmagic96

    Not half mate!!

  58. Leandro Ciasca

    LONG LIVE SLADE!

  59. Leandro Ciasca

    Agreed!

  60. bigmagic96

One of the many perfect songs from Old, New, Borrowed and Blue.
Long live The Mighty Slade !!

  61. Hagarviking

    Superb...
