Skyharbor - Illusion: Catharsis Lyrics

Behind the walls we seem to know
We have faith in too many things; and we just don't know what to choose
We have control over everything; and we could stand to lose it all

I believe we are
Supernova
Born onto a dying star

What if we had known, but what if we were never meant to know?
Behind our star
What if we had known, but what if we were never meant to know?
We die stranded
Would we survive, or would we die?
Behind our star
We want this to be over

We believe in so many things that we just don't know what to do
We have faith in too many things that we just don't know what to choose

Supernova
Tell us once again, will we ever know?
Tell us who we are
Born onto a dying star

Home again
When will I be home again?
We want this to be over

Tell us who we are
Tell us who we are
Tell us who we are
Tell
Us

We want this to be over, although we need it so badly

Supernova
Tell us once again, will we ever know?
Tell us who we are
Born onto a dying star
Tell us once again, will we ever know?
Tell us who we are
Born onto a dying star
Tell us who we are

Skyharbor Illusion: Catharsis Comments
  1. N.... K....

The backing track in this song is probably the music you hear when the sky tears open and you catch a first glimpse of heaven

  2. E.... G....

Eargasmic song. this song makes me just want to stay up all night and watch a sunrise shining across the endless skies and reflecting on a huge body of water

  4. G.... M....

I get goosebumps whenever he screams 'supernova'

  5. T.... J....

The guitar lead at 2:53 is absolutely SICK!

  6. C.... d....

I'm not much for guitar solos unless its John Frusciante but that was quite appropriate and tasteful, thoroughly enjoyed that.

  7. F.... ....

I believe we are....SOUP WITH NO BREAD

  8. R.... ....

    THE best Skyharbor track.

  9. Q.... ....

When I look back at this album now... this has to be the best song for so many reasons including production-- so fuxking edgy ... very nice work guys 🎚🎙🎛🎧

  10. A.... M....

The riffs in the chorus definitely have a post-hardcore vibe that I'm definitely okay with

  11. N.... ....

Reminds me to Textures, Extol and Cynic, the influences are really strong in this band, and I love it.

  12. R.... ....

I'm on a quest, to find a portable speaker that can play skyharbor loudly and meet two conditions 1) sounds good 2) doesn't kill itself

  13. s.... w....

Who did the amazing guitar solo?

    s.... w....

    Marty Friedman.(ex Megadeth)

    s.... w....

    Cheers mate

  14. W.... J....

there's a certain aura, a certain magic, that's encapsulated here. I don't know if it will ever be replicated.

  15. M.... ....

Pleasantly surprised to find out this band was Indian

  16. D.... B....

You guys have to come to Colombia, you are the best! Please come with TesseracT

    D.... B....

Diego Bernal I saw sky harbor with tesseract with monuments and the contortionist earlier this year= Fucking Phenomenal

  17. .... ....

    6:21 Just listen

  18. B.... F....

when will I be home again...

  19. E.... ....

    Marty Friedman = God

  20. P.... N....

The last two minutes make me float

  21. A.... A....

"FROM INDIA'S BRIGHTEST HOPE"? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? ARE YOU GUYS INDIAN?
I'M SHOUTING BECAUSE I LOVE YOU GUYS

    A.... A....

+Abhishek Angira They are from India. Except the singer, he's TesseracT's old and current singer.

    A.... A....

+Odhran Feeney Thanks for the info buddy :)

    A.... A....

+Odhran Feeney I know what you mean, but that sounds funny. "I used to drugs. I still do, but I used to, too."

    A.... A....

bro who makes the solo there is marty friedman ex megadeth....

  22. M.... R....

    They blend so well

  23. T.... ....

seriously this song is absolutely fucking amazing. it makes me think of a final fantasy boss fight, like advent childrens final fight or something. just the beauty of daniel's vocal range combined with the instruments. honestly my favorite part of the song is is 6:20 til the song fades, i could listen to that for the rest of my fucking life.  if this song was a woman, not only would i hit that, but she'd wake up  the next day to breakfast in bed and an engagement ring because i would have ZERO desire to meet ANY other girl.

    T.... ....

ThePurestMayhem best comment ever, i love FF

    T.... ....

    thank you :)

  24. R.... T....

Holy shit marty, where did you get that solo? That was his best solo until now

    R.... T....

That and Celestial... the guy is a goddamn legend.

  25. B.... P....

Brilliant solo by Marty Friedman ! Damn good song. These guys are insanly talented.

  26. R.... O....

If you aspire to be a god someday, keep in mind you're aspiring to be Daniel Tompkins. I'M JUST SAYIN'.

    R.... O....

+Riftborne OP hell yes! And Keshav Dhar!

    R.... O....

+Riftborne OP fuck seriously, I checked them out because I heard they were a mostly Indian band, but fell in love with Dan's voice, especially in Guiding Lights

    R.... O....

And Marty Friedman. The guy's solos are just PERFECT.

  27. C.... H....

Does anyone know where I can listen to the pre-album release mix of this song? I'd quite like to listen to it, but it doesn't appear to be on Youtube anymore...

    C.... H....

NVM I found it on Grooveshark.

  28. C.... S....

I recently moved to the US from India, and the stuff at 3:22 is so good, it always makes me sad. :(

  29. R.... T....

I really don't like the vocals at all, but the music itself is amazing!

    R.... T....

its a full package! one couldnt be better without the other ~~~supernovaaaaaa~~

    R.... T....

    +Royal Thurston whaa?

  30. A.... 6....

Can't get enough of this stuff... Dan is awesome.

  31. S.... D....

    It's really close to perfection......

    S.... D....

This can also be a joke if you think a little bit

    S.... D....

    How ironic

    S.... D....

Give me just one second to think about this.

  32. D.... ....

Glad these guys are from my country India. Heard Dan singing live at the great indian rock festival when he was with Tesseract. Superb vocals. Im just waiting to hear Skyharbor live now.

  33. t.... ....

I quite like this mix I want to be able to hear the instruments when they're this good, they provide more groove and feel than the singing does I think but it's still really good vocally wise

  34. M.... P....

Bad mixing...  His vox are drowned out by bwoow dowww badabada bwoo mewooo neeeeeoooowwwwww...

    M.... P....

@***** And Veil Of Maya is a reference to Cynic haha

  35. S.... B....

If Sky Harbor and TesseracT toured together....
My God.... That would be amazing.

    S.... B....

I know, I saw that lineup in LA. Shit blew me away!

    S.... B....

Not anymore lol. Eric Emery FTW.

    S.... B....

    Pay him double!

    S.... B....

If they toured together, no one would figure out who’s playing :p

    S.... B....

I DID TOO THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING

  36. M.... ....

Geez the vox need to be turned up a bit in the mix. I find myself struggling to hear the vocals over the guitar

  37. L.... ....

    Huuuuu mama it's good...
Perfect balance between musical movement's, all sprinkled with technicality

  38. R.... ....

So what would you call this? Progressive Metalcore?

    R.... ....

    @Raqubor
Well most 'djent' bands have a lot of guitars which have leads and solos and ambient passages going along with the rhythm guitarist, I wouldn't exactly call that primitive, but I get your other points. It's definitely prog, but a subgenre of it, it's just the name that pisses of people.

    R.... ....

I have to partially agree @Raqubor on this one.
There are some really shitty Djent bands, that are exactly like he describe. Some are even more close to new metal. But I feel that the good "Djent" bands end up compensating for the bad ones.
What I like is a very specific kind of Djent, that is characterized by originality, while not being vanilla prog, like animals as leaders, intervals and skyharbour.
Djent is too wide of an umbrella to me.

    R.... ....

im pretty sure youre original comment was made so you could argue about "Djent"...

    R.... ....

It's funny because Skyharbor is not "djent" at all.

    R.... ....

Raqubor theres no such thing as djent as a sub genre, djent is a technique, INVENTED BY MESSHUGAH, but now a lot of bands use that technique in their originally " metalcore" songs, 80% of those bands are shit, except for this one ( skyharbor ) and monuments, and maybe animals as leaders

  39. A.... ....

    Great album.

  40. M.... A....

    Beautiful song

  41. H.... ....

One of the best songs of the album

  42. N.... P....

Wheres Jens Kidman when you need him?

    N.... P....

as great as meshuggah is, his screams are not "needed" here

    N.... P....

I am huge Meshuggah fan but Daniel Tompkins is much better singer than Jens Kidman.

    N.... P....

How can you even compare a singer to a screamer? Hahah

    N.... P....

Jens only sang a little bit on the none Ep and dan doesn't scream that much in general especially now

    N.... P....

If you want Skyharbor with Jens Kidman vocals, go check out Fallujah. Great band in their own right.

  43. T.... E....

Vocals sounds a lot like Sikth.

  44. m.... ....

I don't normally say things like this because I really don't like to compare bands, but the intro to this has a very tool-esque feel to it. This is beautiful regardless of who it reminds me of though.

    m.... ....

Tool ? Not at all. Ive been listen to Tool since 90s and can't hear any tool referance.

    m.... ....

I hear it actually. Tool's Rosetta stoned has a break down section that sounds similar to the intro

  45. D.... ....

I like this band's sound, mainly the beautiful melody and progressive elements. But the vocals are bit overwhelmed at times by the guitars

  46. A.... B....

This reminds me of Deftones... I love it

  47. D.... D....

    Sooooooo goood!!!

  48. F.... A....

    2:51 ... You're welcome.

    F.... A....

Marty Friedman - one of the guests on the album....

    F.... A....

came here practically to hear Marty .... and wow the whole freakin songs amazing....

    F.... A....

One question how the fuck did skyharbor manage to get Marty Friedman on the album? Lol

    F.... A....

+Brendon stacey Marty approached Kehsav Dhar to collaborate on Matry's solo album. They ended up trading off a few songs i guess.
Same with Dan Tompkins, he approached Keshav.

    F.... A....

+Brendon stacey Sevenstring.org ... if you're a guitar nerd, this is the place to hang ... and where Keshav 'met' Marty I do believe .. or, at least, caught wind of the buzz behind Keshav's bedroom demos ...

  49. p.... ....

    that solo..

  50. I.... ....

was this a song? or a ballad :')

  51. h.... ....

i eat your shitt. good band good job. gratz for existing. . . :)

  52. C.... B....

    Marty friedman on the leads!!!!!

  53. N.... ....

    The vocals are breathtaking.

  54. T.... ....

wtf is up with the vocals?

  55. J.... T....

    Really Digging them.

  56. I.... ....

Just introduced to this band today. Great stuff. Will order this tonight

  57. J.... C....

    lol nope.

  58. S.... ....

im normally not that much into clean singing, but damn, this band is ridicioulosly good!

  59. J.... R....

    how so..?

  60. R.... W....

Back to tesseracT dylan... begging you.

  61. T.... S....

Tomkins, please come back to the Tesseract... They started playing shitty music after you left Your Band.

  62. A.... K....

Nope but I've always liked Nile, can I keep it pweeze?

  63. m.... ....

You're profile picture isn't Nile, You should throw your computer in the garbage.

  64. h.... ....

3:35- 4:55...seriously the most beautiful part on the album

  65. G.... ....

Discovered this band today, I'm going to buy all their stuff now, SO GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!

  66. L.... H....

here's a thought: disregard all the hate and spam comments, and just listen to the music you came here to enjoy. no need for argument. this is a beautifully written song and Dan is at his prime. it's so.. celestial. ha.

  67. M.... ....

This is really just fantastically composed and written music regardless of genre. Excellent sense of direction. Song is powerful and catchy and actually makes you feel something. Dan's vocals are absolutely killer on this.

  68. K.... B....

Só tem crianças brancas... percebe.. BANCO RACISTA!!!

  69. j.... ....

It's like I always say. When in Rome, you gotta grab the hand of a badger's dad

  70. j.... ....

    BURN!!! ha ha ha! Legend!

  71. j.... ....

why're you checking the comments then?

  72. d.... ....

To have pride in no one but yourself is selfish and shallow, we are not isolated animals we work on pack mentality. The well being of others adds to the well being of ourselves, and to reward good behavior with things like pride insures that good things continue to be done. I'm sure there are a lot of metal fans in India that have pride in this band and I'm sure this band knows that, which most likely makes that band proud of themselves and try harder. That in turn brings us more music.

  73. d.... ....

There's something called "part of the whole" that makes it matter. Things are bigger than yourself, there's more to life than just you. Steps forward in humanity are done as a group which you are a part of, and I doubt you feel that something you are personally a part of deserves no pride. I am a part of society like you are, I am part of a bigger picture. When I let someone else know I have pride in them it gives them motivation to try, when they move forward they bring us with as humans.

  74. A.... K....

Lol the comments on this video are pathetic, you should all throw your computers in the garbage.

  75. T.... ....

    SUUUUUUPER NOVAAAAAAAAAA

  76. d.... ....

The only thing I found in these comments is why you think it's more intellectually sound to not have pride in anything not done by yourself, which you're using to belittle the comments of other posters here. I was asking if you've personally ever felt pride in the actions of someone else because I'm sure that you have and that would make you a hypocrite.

  77. d.... ....

You've never had a sense of pride because of the actions made by someone else? A father has pride in the actions of his son, a patriot has pride in the actions of their nation. Absolutely nothing wrong with someone being proud of someone else in their country and by proxy someone their country produced for creating something beautiful. Look at the Olympics, nation's pride given to a few capable of winning medals for the rest of us. No different than a band winning awards.

  78. m.... ....

    Just found these guys....holy crap.

  79. A.... T....

Damn, I was underwhelmed by Skyharbour until this song. This is majestic

  80. B.... C....

LOVING THIS BAND RIGHT NOW :)

  81. A.... U....

    I feel you

  82. T.... ....

please point it out to me.

  83. M.... M....

    the irony...

  84. M.... K....

    this is an awesome album!!

  85. A.... ....

Holy shit marty friedmans in this?????

  86. T.... F....

You should check out his live rehearsal video. The vocals are much more clean and it's in one go. It's fantastic.

  87. T.... F....

At 4:54 it sounds like he says "Death to you... die." I know that's not it, but it still sounds badass, and gives me massive goosepimples.

  88. K.... K....

Definitely - was never a Tesseract fan though I give them mad props but this.......this is some next level shit.

  89. D.... ....

    Not in my America!

  90. M.... ....

Quite confused by the vocal production. The mix is smacking, but the doubled/tripled vocals are way washed in it.

  91. W.... S....

    I was just thinking that

  92. T.... ....

you're a moron, but hopefully you've realized that by now. it's been five months.

  93. S.... ....

Nope, I think he's just as good!

He has an amazing ability to adjust his voice to the music. In Tesseract he let the rest of the music shine, because the vocals aren't always the "main attraction" of the tracks. It's not about singing softer or quieter, you have to know where you're gonna do your "special thing" and where to just sing as plain as possible.
That is why I think Dan is one of the world greatest singers, and has been since Tesseract. :)

  94. d.... ....

Other way around in my opinion.

  95. P.... ....

Amazing song, I can't get enough of this.

  96. S.... M....

Yeah agreed...i guess the mix could be better...but still very cool stuff :-)

  97. t.... ....

    omg this is amazing.

  98. D.... ....

UNLESS YOU CAN DO BETTER YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DISLIKE SOMETHING!!!!!!1!!!!!!!

  99. E.... S....

One of the best song I have heard lately. perfect sinthony among all the elements

  100. E.... S....

Maybe he has more freedom to sing here on this band. Amazing work!
