Skinny Puppy - paragUn Lyrics

Yeah, we're gonna all see
A truth born sayer or a weapon to deceive
Turn on the switch if you think you still can dream
A calculated risk for all sheep while sleeping

I challenge you to take a hard look
At just what's creeping there behind their truth
A salivating, toothless, crooked root thang
Is sucking on and on, gag gag

Got knife, back it up, fight
Gotta find a reason to slice in
Can't forget the piece of the pie
A poison we can't get away from

Got a knife, back a nation
Feel the class system, closing in
Like an abscess in the back of the neck
Gotta keep the mind on intention

Radiate, feeling baked, catch the high, high..

Sure, this season seems so clean
A filibuster dusting all the cesium leaves
A low grade dose of a rabbit up the sleeve
A card trick release from the pretty fuel fleas

I'm getting sick from the way we all look
In the face of annihilation under a jack boot
An ass ripping particle base disguise
Take me back to times of black plague lies

Got knife, back it up, fight
Gotta find a reason to slice in
Can't forget the piece of the pie
A poison we can't get away from

Got a knife, back a nation
Feel the class system, closing in
Like an abscess in the back of the neck
Gotta keep the mind on intention

Radiate, feeling baked, catch the high, high..
Make it up, pass the buck, fuck, fuck..

  3. S.... B....

Almost sounds like they sampled the guitar from the beginning of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. Wouldn't be surprised

  4. D.... S....

I've heard much worse, but this just sounds too catchy and glitchy and poppy for me. As for the dubstep comment I saw, I'm glad they didn't try that trash out either. Frontline Assembly did, and it was pretty bad lol. Dwayne Goettel is still missed.

    And then

  38. N.... G....

Mostly I don't like this album. Sorry but I really don't see how so many people can say that it sounds almost like the oldschool SP or like Remission or even Bites, 'cause in my opinion it totally doesn't but it also doesn't have to. They developed through 3 decades and still are going forward, they changed alot through the years of course and no album is the same as those before. But what I really don't like about this album is that they're trying so badly to become again what they were 30 years ago...that just can't work. I dunno it's not my style at all, it's too synthetic, too up-beat, too nervous, too "unlike SP", it actually is the first album where I really think that way...I really appreciate the new "Solvent"-Ver. also "Wornin' and Tsudanama are pretty nice, but all in all it's more likely unsatisfying. Still though, it IS an SP release and yet it has a message to convey, therefore "long life SP!!!" <3

    N.... G....

@NiK G. A sub par SP album is still a work of genius.

    N.... G....

+Industrial phuk but it is not sub par.

    N.... G....

+NiK G. and you're posting this on the one song that more than all the others sounds like their older material. Whatever if you can't hear it, there's a reason everyone else can. Also go back and find anything other than Inquisition to dance to, and you'll have a hard time. They need to be up-beat it's sorely missing from their back catalog.

    N.... G....

    +NiK G. Love the album.

    N.... G....

Have to respectfully disagree. The largest seismic shift in SP music occurred between Last Rights and Process. A far greater emphasis on melody, far more accessible songs (some would say mainstream) and also a very specific and identifiable singing style that relies less on distortions. It is often possible within one second to tell apart the two eras. SP seems to have no intention whatsoever of going back to how things were done previously. We will never get another ViViSectVi or TDP. This album is indisputably far more melodically richer than the Bites&Remission era. The difference between the two Solvents is drastic despite it being essentially the same song. A lot of it is of course 30 years of experience being filtered into the new version and far greater technical ability.

Essentially, the new SP might not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly not to many of those grown attached to vintage SP, but out of all new SP albums (Process onward) this is by far the best album. The number of top quality songs is amazing: Wornin', Illisit, Solvent and this song for starters, but IMHO there is not a single weak song on this album.

  39. N.... A....

    Great tune....

    T.... ....

    Who is Beyoncé ?

    T.... ....

An awful singer with NO talent who most of America loves.

  44. D.... o....

Easily the best song on this album.

  45. a.... ....

    "Yeah,  were gonna all see:

  46. j.... o....

my favorite song of the album!

  47. J.... M....

One of the best songs on the best SP album in a loooooong time. Sounds much more like the skinny puppy i fell inlove with a zillion years ago.

I HEARD THAT CHINA IS NOW #1 IN MONEY AND POWER AND WE (the usa) AREN'T EVEN A CLOSE SECOND? RUSSIA, BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA AND OTHER COUNTRIES ALL HAVE US BEAT AS FAR AS REVENUE? I WONDER IF THIS IS TRUE? I HEARD IT ON LATE NITE TV. FOR REAL. SERIOUSLY. NO B.S. IT MAKES YOU THINK. ARE MONEY USED TO BE BACKED UP BY GOLD BULLION. NOT ANYMORE IT'S JUST PRINTED ON PAPER AND IT'S WORTHLESS. CRAZY HUH?? FOOD FOR THOUGHT...........

  52. A.... ....

Uh oh. Now I'm going to have to pay a visit to the local smelly apothecary and have them prepare me a stinkcture

  53. W.... ....

Puppy is hands down one of the best bands ever in my opinion. Electro industrial is sublime. The combination of lyrics and programming transports me. They are like a celebration and a dirge for humanity all at once. It's like humanity's contemporary soundtrack.

  54. C.... H....

If I am going to use torture its going to be Captian BeefHeart Trout Mask Replica. If you can sit through the whole album and not want to off yourself. You will get a golf clap from me.

  55. m.... ....

Not my style. But then again I don't like techno. At least it has a damn message though and hopefully are motivated to try make changes in the world. I'm so sick of music with no message and that doesn't take any talent to produce. Generic techno with the same beats, generic rap with the same beats just rappin about money, fame, and parties. Theres so much that is interesting, terrible, crazy, unbelievable and new going on around the world today there is plenty of material out there.

    m.... ....

I was just saying that I like music where the artist has something to say other than how great they are or how much money they have or how many chicks they have fucked. And it is nice to see that regardless of whether or not I enjoy the style.

    m.... ....

Yah that's one of the reasons I got into industrial music in the first place.  Skinny Puppy isn't alone in having more worthwhile things to say than their own vanity.

And of course it's possible to have your cake and eat it too - it's very possible to write a vanity song that does have a message.  Some musicians don't seem to realize that... or they just don't care.  It's kind of sad.

    m.... ....

    @Tom B
You can call Skinny Puppy a lot of things really they have been experimenting with music for years. They started out more straight up Industrial but have varied especially since their comeback. It's a mesh of styles that creates one very beautiful painting.

    m.... ....

Have your yellowcake and eat it too.

    m.... ....

    are u talking about techno??

  56. k.... t....

i listen to this music when i work out it is awsome lol

  57. G.... ....

people actually listen to this voluntarily? yikes ...

  58. C.... C....

    Good Jam.

  59. d.... s....

in order for this to be torture they have to be putting them prisoners on l.s.d for sure

  60. P.... E....

USA put brazillian funk to people hear, this is torture

  61. P.... C....

Fantastic song! Thank you mainstream media for introducing me to this!

  62. j.... m....

    Id prefer being water boarded

  63. 5.... ....

    This is torture.

  64. D.... ....

no.... i think if they made me listen to miley cyrus we cant stop as a type of torture, i would surrender

  65. S.... S....

This is considered torture? I bet some of those Gitmo guys are grooving...

    S.... S....

I may have been accidentally responsible for the US govt using skinny puppy music.
I was doing fire watch and a 4 star gen walked in as I broke protocol and was bored and to stay awake I wrote all the skinny puppy lyrics down that I knew from heart. The general made me drop to do 50 pushups and then walked over to see what I was writing and he was skimming over it with a slowly distorted face then looked up at me and with a disgusted face he spoke very loud and read off - Deep down trauma hounds?? He wrinkled it up and threw it in the trash and then came back 5 minutes later and took it out of the trash. He ordered me to see the on duty shrink and I told him its from my band..... <--- yeah I lied But I guess he searched some song lyric database and the rest was made history. Sorry Ogre.... If I had written down something else nothing would have come of it.

    S.... S....

They forgot to give tbe prisoners LSD first...

    S.... S....

@Inachu, I really pray this is true. If it is, that's a hell of a revolutionary thing. What's that saying about small worlds? :p

    S.... S....

Earlier Puppy could be considered so... For that matter, anything could be considered so, particularly if one were heavily influenced by religion, in a 'strange' country, tortured/ridiculed/abused daily (on various levels -- emotionally, physically, culturally, mentally, etc. -- being incarcerated is bad enough).

I wonder what it would be like being captured by another country, detained, tortured and made to listen to some obscure, experimental band from their land, on forever-repeat, while being nude and strobe lights flickered incessantly...? 🤔

    PS: love you Skuppy!!!

    S.... S....

Before I heard the news I figured it was 24/7 Creed and Nickleback.

  66. F.... M....

    Guantanamo Bay

  67. a.... ....

Just making this cr*p should be a violation of the Geneva Convention.

  68. S.... ....

This is like music from the 3000s...

  69. D.... ....

Yea...i can totally see how they would lose their minds now..

  70. M.... ....

    Horrivel

  71. K.... A....

Thumbs up if you came here to experience what it feels like to be tortured at Guantanamo Bay. :P

  72. T.... ....

no wonder the US government uses this to torture Guantanamo bay prisoners

  73. c.... ....

Its played so loud they cant have their own thoughts they go evil and paranoid and can have a heart attack. if you cant think you will go insane no matter if you like the music or not.

    c.... ....

people PAY for that experience, it's called a concert.

    c.... ....

@Martin Miller i know people pay for concert experiences. why are you telling me this

    c.... ....

    @Owlhousespecial  lol

  74. A.... ....

Now I know why this would be considered torcher!

  75. m.... ....

    omg those poor, poor terrorists..

  76. B.... A....

After a few days of listening to this track I would tell you where I hid the assault rifles.  This stuff is terrriiibblle

    B.... A....

@HorizonHipHop torture is always wrong.  No warrrent, no search.

    B.... A....

@HorizonHipHop show me evidence that children are there please... i dont just take peoples word for it lol... not being a dick im actually want to know lol

    B.... A....

@HorizonHipHop someone isn't aware of what the world is like outside of their own country, it's rather cute :)

    B.... A....

@Martin Miller It's all falling apart.  The world will burn in the flames of war brought on by the dear leader who is insane to provoke Russia.  It's a war no one wants.

    B.... A....

I agree, not a fan of Weapon or Handover.

  77. j.... l....

What is this crap.  Feels like I am at a rave or something.  Puppy needs to go back to their roots and be industrial instead of this techno stuff.   Reminds me of how punk is now  pop punk . Wtf is pop punk?

    j.... l....

Well on the same album you have a note for note remake of Solvent.. but fuck em for being variable, right?

  78. J.... S....

I see why now the government tortures detainees in Cuba, this music is horrible....

    J.... S....

You like the Beatles. You have NO fucking say on what music is horrible.

  79. R.... C....

LOL, but dude, learn to spell TORTURE.

  80. B.... t....

They made me do it!!! i promise, they would have killed my family id i didn't do it

  81. g.... ....

It's torture cause it's fuckin baad

  82. l.... ....

    totally awful

  83. a.... ....

PLEASE, NO, ANYTHING BUT THIS. NO, PLEASE NO, NOT THE SKINNY PUPPY AGAIN PLEASE, PLEEEEEASE ANYTHING BUT THIS NOO PLE- *crappy snare kicks in*

    a.... ....

It's a torture used to keep them awake. They play music at nearly ear-busting volumes to keep them awake for days on end.

    a.... ....

    @DeadMansFilm http://rt.com/news/skinny-puppy-guantanamo-torture-524/

Metal band ‘invoices’ US govt for using their music for ‘torture’ in Gitmo

    a.... ....

@DeadMansFilm Meanwhile, everyone else parties until they surrender. Sounds like a good deal to me. Although, this is pretty bad, lol.

    a.... ....

    @dor idilic
They also used the theme song to "Barney"

  84. s.... ....

Ya if I was gonna use music to torture someone I would get a lot more creative then this

    s.... ....

@Marina Anne  the CIA used skinny puppy albums (among others) to psychologically torture their terror-war detainees. that's why this album was ironically/sarcastically named WEAPON in response. read the lyrics some time

    s.... ....

Squarepusher or Aphex Twin would work better.

    s.... ....

justin bieber, jon denver, nitzer ebb, 311, chicago, huey lewis and the news... suck bands would be my torture! When I need something comforting to help me sleep I play industrial noise and skinny puppy. Turns the noise in my head into something useful.

  85. x.... ....

I can understand why the Gov. was using their music for a torcher method.

    x.... ....

    @***** This torcher/flamer...

    x.... ....

They found out about that before this album was made... it's actually where the title comes from.

    x.... ....

The album is called 'Weapon' lol.  So wrong.

    x.... ....

@MattHumanPizza They originally planned to create a concept album based on Guantanamo, complete with instructions for torture on the cover, but scrapped the idea and just kept the title.

    x.... ....

I *can't* understand it. Skinny Puppy's music is awesome.

  86. t.... h....

    Like this one a lot

  87. S.... H....

OMG I really like this one. I haven't paid much attention to the album, yet, but now that I have tickets for February I'll be playing this a lot, especially this track!

  88. h.... m....

My childhood music. Thanks mom (((:

  89. s.... ....

    This song is so nasty

  90. 5.... ....

    In the face of annihilation!

don't forget the piece of the pie a poison we cant get away from

  92. P.... V....

    I dig it

    P.... V....

I see what you did there. :)

  93. C.... A....

My first SO record was Last Rights. Love in Vein and so forth is just an experimental tour de force in music and electronic production. Weapon by far is their best album since Process but Greater Wrong is almost head to head. Just love this band and will never quite understand why they aren't bigger and more recognized. Industrial music taps into the shadows of ourselves and explores a dystopian big brother of a future. At least that's what it feels like. These musicians truly are pioneers and the live show is the best you will ever see. Saw them a few years ago and was absolutely stunned by how incredible it all was

  94. .... ....

    So little cult bands left.

  95. C.... Z....

  96. z.... ....

Wish I'd begun with them earlier. Heard them at a college dorm party in 1986 or 87 along with The Klinik. Was into thrash metal at the time so I didn't follow up on my interest - flash forward to 1993 and wow!
Haven't been crazy about their Y2K work, but WEAPON is growing on me.

Still, it never was better or more fun than "Mind: Perpetual Intercourse" and "Cleanse Fold & Manipulate".

    z.... ....

Too Dark Park.  I have nothing else to say.  I was into thrash at the time too and it murdered my brain in the best way possible.  Been a fan since.
