Skillet - Gasoline Lyrics

I'm sitting with my heart out on the table
I'm doing a face to face with God
He picked up my heat and said,
What you want me to do with this?
I just blinked my eyes no smile, no laugh, no tears
No shrugging my shoulders

It crossed my mind, Yeah I got an idea
You could take my heart and put it in a padlocked box
What if they grab too hard or smash it, or throw it down
I'm scared of being hurt, I just want to live, live a happy life!

You want to, you want to
Soak my heart in gasoline
Light a match and consume me
Soak my pride in gasoline all of you and none of me

I was reminded my heart reeks of gasoline
It bears the mark of a slave committed to life
Anyone who wants it
Will have to grab it from a real big God try to touch me,
You'll be consumed, youll be consumed I want to, I want to

I'm sitting here with my heart out on the table
Next to a bloody mess that was once a man's heart
I looked at God and said, What do you want me to do with this?
He said, Already done, already done, that heart was Jesus

Has anyone else noticed that Ken is wearing American flag shorts?

  20. J.... N....

    this is the real skillet

    J.... N....

How is this the "real" skillet? They've pretty much changed their sound on every album. Rarely repeating themselves until recently with their last 2-3 albums, about 2009? 2010?, being what one would consider "mainstream" rock. I still think their best album is Comatose. Collide was pretty good too. Not really digging the new stuff as much. I just don't like Jen's voice. Horrible reason but I just can't stand it. Wish they'd let Korey handle the female vocal parts like she used to before Jen joined.

    J.... N....

    Jason Newkid no doubt bro

    J.... N....

No its not... real skillet is NOW

  21. M.... ....

This song is so bad. I am so glad there new stuff is way better than this.

  22. J.... ....

This is definitely one of my favorite oldies (:

  23. J.... K....

Well now I know how they used to be ............ I like there new style and voice better don't get me wrong they where good in this but just not experienced at the music (-_-)

  24. r.... w....

great song . one of my favorites.

  25. B.... ....

I think current Skillet and old Skillet are both pretty good, just saying.

    B.... ....

Yeah My 2 Favorite Albums My Them Are Skillet And Rise. Trust me I love New Skillet Jusf as much as Old Skillet But I still think it would be cool to see them do more Stuff like this more Grunge and heavy

  26. S.... W....

Well, bands have to start somewhere:D

  27. D.... G....

    Nirvana got spiritual

  28. K.... G....

I agree @Katerina Mitika new ones are totally better some older ones are good but most suck

  29. K.... M....

this sucks the new ones are MUCH better!!!

  30. A.... G....

    Wow cool I like it

  31. R.... ....

You suck for trolling this video. Go away!

  32. R.... ....

Are you stupid? No one knows who Jesus looks like.

  33. M.... C....

    Slingingtrees, I agree with you

  34. m.... ....

I love old and new style for what they are. :)

  35. t.... ....

I don't care which of their music it is, I like all of it. I like their old stuff for the lyrics. (you can't beat Saturn at all. Love that song!)
I also like their new stuff, because I'm more into harder rock stuff like that. Collide is an awesome album, and comatose is great too. Just bought and listened to awake yesterday, and that was enjoyable :)
    Rock on, Skillet!

  36. C.... H....

So today. John looks like a casual bloke. In this he looks like Jesus.

  37. A.... ....

Everybody whining about the "new" stuff .....
    THIS shit sucks too.

This gasoline song is absolutely terrible.
I came here to check out, i did, it blows.

    A.... ....

    AVOLITE Nobody asked you

  38. s.... ....

The old Skillet is better than the new, this will always be one of my favorite albums!

    s.... ....

slingingtrees agreed to me it's their best album

  39. T.... ....

    The old Skillet

  40. J.... L....

    He stills sound the same

  41. N.... B....

His voice now certainly does sound like that! Cooper captured the essence of grunge vocals with his own personal touch in this album. With just a touch of a raspy style to accommodate the muddy sound of grunge music, he provided a perfect balance with this album. Now, the vocal sound is overdone to the point where it just sounds terrible, complete with over driven guitars playing repetitive chord progressions.

  42. N.... B....

Indeed the style changed... and so many seem to love the change...

  43. N.... B....

Just because they have a heavier guitar tone, raspier vocals, more predictable chord progressions, repetitive song structures and better studio quality, they somehow improved?! It isn't even so much of an opinion related matter as it is simply in a musical standpoint... Skillet has declined...

    N.... B....

Nathaniel Byers No. They improved only in their passion for Christ and experience.

  44. N.... B....

If you have to think about the meaning without being able to distinguish it from hearing the song alone... the lyrics are watered down. It isn't always a bad thing, the lyrics just contain more of a subtlety that can be best explained by either symbolism or to keep the lyrics interesting.

  45. N.... B....

    It's better...

  46. N.... B....

I agree with you 100%... the sound has become repetitious and predictable as well. Songs from the very first album are what got me into Skillet in the first place.

  47. C.... N....

Are you serious? His voice has gotten progressively worse. He sounds like he gargled with gravel lol

  48. a.... a....

    yeah he does

  49. N.... D....

I'm speechless. John has changed so much in the past 16 years

  50. J.... P....

i think its got something to do with the bass

  51. m.... ....

I like thier versions then and now. Something about the old school though...something...

  52. N.... C....

soak my heart in gasoline. light a match and consume me. soak my pride in gasoline. all of you and none of mee

  53. N.... C....

this is the type of music tht the present day skillet should sing
like this comment if you agree

  54. G.... ....

@thebrando82 the lyrics are not watered down! they are symbolic! because Skillet doesn't want to sound Christian not because they're ashamed but because non Christians think that if it's Christian music that they can't listen to it so look at the lyrics on google and think about it symbollically, hero talks about how we need Jesus because we are just human, and monster talks about the bad in us and our sin, so before you say they're are watered down try to think of the meaning! thumbs^ if u like

  55. D.... H....

    Bom D+++++++

  56. l.... c....

i miss this. not a fan of the new watered down lyrics.

  57. R.... ....
