This album was such a let down. I bought back in high school in 1995 and regretted it immediately. A band that had such killer debut and a sick follow up and a very cool cover tunes album then released this. The 2 ballads Into Another and Breaking Down are great songs but all the fast songs are shit not catchy, no good riffs, this was the end of Skid Row, such a shame :(

Saw them live at at Madison Square Garden Rob Halford from Priest was a guest. BEST SHOW I EVER SAW. They sounded GREAT together. Not a GLAM band.

Subhuman Race is a very Underrated album this is my favorite song off it. Sebastian has a very powerful voice and he puts it to good use here. Sucks this album did not get the love and respect it deserved.

Well, considering the time period it came out, it's not surprising it didn't get much attention. Everyone was a grunge fan boy/girl and so many really good albums from hard rock and metal bands were overlooked.

This was released at a very interesting time. Glam/hair metal was falling out of popularity being replaced by grunge style bands. Odd though since Skid row seemed to evolve with the times as it happened. Slave to the Grind was their "Back in Black" album, that effort is immortal as it was a stylistic departure of the formulaic hair band production of the day. Subhuman Race just fell flat, maybe because the market was getting lost in the flood of established bands shifting gears to accommodate the public's change in listening tastes. A good example is Kiss shifting gears to a harder sound with "Revenge". I'm no expert, just a guy who lived in those times as it happened theorizing how things played out the way they did.

What a great tune exactly what Rock was.... and should be....

Too dark and chaotic for me. Don't need that in my soyl. Thumbs down.

Apparently this is the genesis of the horrible st anger snare sound that bob rock used when he did the metallica album a few years later. I've never heard anyone say they're just another glam band. I think everyone remembers slave. Even the first record is miles ahead of this shit though.

I'm a big fan of the "Slave to the Grind" album, love a few songs from the first album...however, this album didn't click on me. Sucks because it seems they lost the spark with Bach and the rest of the band are just reliving the dream of the ashes of their success...
