I've always wondered if this song was about "Blood Diamonds" or definitely more inspired by that Dustin Hoffman film "Marathon Man" which I've read it is. Also this would of been an amazing Bond Theme.

Siouxsie and The Banshee's used to open their concerts during this tour with this song "DAZZLE." With an extended orchestration at the beginning of the song with the lights turned down. I was fortunate enough to see them live during this tour. It was in 1981, 38 years ago. Siouxsie wore a white, full-length Wedding Dress that was torn at every joint. It was an incredible performance and experience. Unforgettable in every sense of the word.

In 1987 I was 19, and at roughly the same time I was introduced to the music of Siouxsie, Joy Division, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, OMD, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, and many more. It was all so... magical, almost. Does that even happen with today's music? Or is it just me as an old fart looking back on the good ole' days? Probably the latter.

I'd say the former; since the beginning of the 2000's, the best I've heard is basically "Okay, well that wasn't so horrifying" or "Okay, I think I can get behind this", but hardly anything makes me say "Whoa! Who's THIS?" . When I DO hear something that makes me react "Whoa! Who's THIS?", it turns out to be something from before the 2000's .... or a band whose first album was in the 90's and can still make something actually decent in the 2000's.
