Sinatra, Frank - Watertown Lyrics

Old Watertown, nothing much happenin', down on Main, 'cept a little rain
Old Watertown, everyone knows, the perfect crime, killin' time
And no one's goin' anywhere, livin's much too easy there
It can never be a lonely place when there's the shelter of familiar faces
Who can say it's not that way, Old Watertown, so much excitement
To be found hangin' round, there's someone standing in the rain
Waiting for the morning train, it's gonna be a lonely place
Without the look of familiar faces, but who can say it's not that way

Sinatra, Frank Watertown Comments
  1. G.... S....

I came here after listening to Neil Peart’s book Traveling Music. He said this was one of his all time favorite albums. I must say this is good. I’ve never heard it before.

....I could easily hear David Ackles singing this.......... ;)

  3. L.... T....

uno dei più bei dischi di Frankie... melodia pura, sincera.

I grew up in Sackets Harbor and lived on the river just outside of Clayton for 29 years. After my wife and dog died, I decided to take a job in Naples, Florida, where me and my wife and our dogs would go for our winter vacation every year. I've been living here a little under a month, and all I do now is lay on the couch, listen to this album, and plan out my suicide. I miss Watertown.

Troy B Message me. Let’s talk.

  5. C.... K....

He should have kept "For A While" in his live repertoire. It would have really worked.

  6. C.... K....

So much of the arranging reminds me of Brian Wilson's on "Pet Sounds" and "SMiLE"

  7. S.... W....

It is sad that this album wasn't a hit. It was a concept album, indeed. but it was also a new direction for Sinatra. It is awesome!!! Too bad more people didn't appreciate it at the time.

  8. j.... ....

Would have done so much better if Frank went along with the TV special to go along with this as planned...it's a GREAT underrated concept album, call me crazy but it's up there along with "only the lonely, wee small hours....."

  9. C.... V....

I like Watertown I couldn't care less what anyone says about the album

    C.... V....

    It stinks.

  10. U.... T....

From Watertown NY, always love it

  11. S.... S....

His best album in my opinion.

    S.... S....

How many albums do you know? (Not trying to be mean)

  12. J.... T....

Was a great attempt and brave project by a more sensitive singer than most realised..

  13. E.... P....

The saddest thing about Watertown, however, is that the album sold merely 30,000 copies and is thereby the only one of Sinatra’s major album releases not to reach the Billboard Top 100.

    E.... P....

He made this album to us . To future !

    @T Dunph check out discogs!

@T Dunph so sorry ...I first discovered it on cassette (give as a gift). I wasn't really into Frank back then but it turned out to be the only one I had in the car on a long trip, so we listened to it over and over --and by the time the first was over we were madly in love with the entire album. After getting home I ordered the vinyl - kept that intact (just in case), then later bought the CD (that was hard to find but I still have it). You might try looking online?

    E.... P....

@T Dunph yes, what Elizabeth said. You can find this online. It is reissued on vinyl and CD plus you can find old copies; in a range of prices on CD and vinyl.

    E.... P....

Listen to it... it's easy to see why it did not go anywhere.
