Sinatra, Frank - Someone To Watch Over Me Lyrics
There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that she turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me
I'm a little lamb who's lost in the wood
I know I could always be good
Although I may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To her heart I'll carry the key
Won't you tell her please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me
Won't you tell her please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need

IM a hard core Metallica fan. Tool. Flaming lips...but this song is gorgeous. the lyrics speak about me.
My wonderful loving wife always used to tell me ' your the only man I ever want to watch over me. I lost her in " 03 " God got an Angel.........
Sleeping At last.
Thank you ‘Prajwol Baniya’ for posting the passionate and romantic words to this melodic song. Sinatra was a commensurate vocalist. 🥰👍
This is the man who sat next to me 0n my rue corner in Paris in 1956.They were making a war movie movie and I was watching the German tanks go down the rue.Frank looked at me and said " It can't be all that bad kid.He stood up put his hand in his pocket and handed me a hundred dollar bill.I stood up, I wanted to thank him for me and my mother, but I couldn't speak enough English. That $100 kept me and mom for the better part of a year. God bless Frank 🇫🇷.
Girls used to pass out just listening to Frank on the radio in the 40's.
Que lindo

The Voice of America!
Classic Sinatra
Wonderful man ...love you honey
イケメンですね
아 언제 들어도 너무 좋다 ..진짜
Una vera poesia
Now this is real music
Such a great oldie. Sigh.....
The bees knees
He could sing Anything-Beautiful.
These types of music put me in the most calming state.
No music artists today can achieve this.
Abba's " Fernando" will do that to me and some Tony Bennett,
He sings this song in the movie, Young At Heart with Doris Day as co-star. It's really a great movie, drama.
As much as I love this song Frank himself, it's always the instrumental at the end the gets me the most
If you like the instrumental part of this song, listen to Frank's version of "How Deep is the Ocean" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5U3uQ1-QDA
It will never grow old.
Frank Sinatra is the greatest singer, regardless of style, of all time.
Beautiful version!
This has always been my parents song, they've been happily married for 54 years. Right now my Mom is watching over my Dad day and night as he has been battling cancer and is nearing the end.
Very soon he will be watching over her~♡~
Guys check out the sleeping at last version!
This is heaven??
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a_Cu0VzhhWQ The most amazing cover you will ever hear
The lyrics, the violin and the voice of Mr. Sinatra... perfect combination for a wonderful listening experience.
How good is this guy.
Beautiful xXx
Oh my....I'm sure the angels are smiling daily at old "Blue eyes" concerts :-)! This song grabs my heart so deeply....as i'm still looking for that "SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER me", in the 3rd quarter of my LIFE (oh well).
There's also a fabulous version on the album "The Glory Of Gershwin.
20 years gone today! You are so missed! They do'n't make singers like you anymore and they can keep what they do make. Love you Francis and miss you like crazy.
In the early years, Sinatra was a very good singer especially in romantic ballads like this one. His voice was never especially beautiful but his phrasing was excellent. He sounds sensitive and sincere. His ego doesn't run wild, it's not all about him here, it's about the song. He never sang this beautifully and with such control and restraint in his later career.
His 1940s ballads arranged and conducted by Axel Stordahl certainly were excellent, but he also recorded some exceptional ones in the 1950s with Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins, Steven.
catman916 Agreed. He was at his best in the ballads. The stuff he did with Riddle was timeless. I was thinking more of the later Reprise years.
As he aged, his voice became less smooth which shows up in his later Reprise recordings. He also stopped working with Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins, which was unfortunate.
catman916 I think the years of booze and cigarettes may have affected his voice.
Indeed, they did, Steven. A good example is his 1956 recording of "Memories of You." His voice is rough and deep compared with his 1961 recording. Of course the effects of age played the most important role in the deterioration of his voice.
There's a somebody
I'm longin' to see
I hope that he turns
Out to be
Someone to watch over me
I'm a little lamb
Who's lost in the wood
I know I could
Always be good
To one
Who'll watch over me
Although he may
Not be the man some
Girls think
Of as handsome
To my heart
He carries the key
Won't you tell him please
To put on some speed
Follow my lead
Oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me
Won't you tell him please
To put on some speed
Follow my lead
Oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me
Someone to watch over me

The lyrics are so passionate and heart warming. Who wrote this? 🥰👍
George Girshwin. Look him up and you'll find hes one of the most influential jazz composers of the past 100 years!
This version is wonderful!
i love American old songs.
Wil je mij met Rust laten alsjeblief ?
Thank you again for posting this superb share. This is perfection to say the least, that diction of his is amazing
This version and the 1954 version are my favorites.
Always loved this version, check out my cover here

MY DAD ALSO NAME FRANK WAS A BIG FAN FRANK S. , BOTH FRANKS RIP.
Happy Birthday Frankie ♡
so much better than elvis
patricia athome don't be dissing Elvis!
There's always one. Elvis didn't record this so it what way are you compering?
They say Sinatra couldn't sing the blues until Ava Gardner broke his heart!
Hawaii five-0 S8 Ep3 😄😄😄
My DAD LOVED SINATRA , RIP DAD & SINATRA!
a real love song right here. I wish I could sing as good as Sinatra
I love "Old Blue Eyes".. his music is awesome
Ah, the good old days. Not my good old days, I'm 14, but I wish music wasn't crappy today
Me too. For your generation's sake...what will you remember in 10 years ..much less 50 of the wreckless, miserable crap out there now?
I hope you have found something worthwhile.
Glad to see there's you - as a glimmer of hope!
18 years old. Love this stuff!
que voz mas hermosa
This is one of the better ones
Dear fan of pop music I understand what you're saying however it's not even a matter of how high or how low your voice can go and how well you can scream to the music it's it's a matter of your voice has the two nations to make you feel the song that is why Frank Sinatra has been popular both in the 40s and regained its popularity in his 50s in the 50s and I would say that
always need some Frank on your life
Beautiful.
love this man
i came from the last episode of the second season of friends.... I'm addicted to this voice
RIP Radiohead.
Sinatra sounds so sweet in this; makes me want to have been born 80 years earlier.
"Although I may not be the man some girls think of as handsome". Duuuuuuuuuuude, that is most definitely not true.
It's even funnier when you listen to Chet Baker's version.
He didn't write the lyrics... Poor Ira Gershwin
😂🤣😂
@Ethan Manco , and the original lyrics were wrote with a woman character as singer: she says that "altough he may not the man some girls think of as handsome, to my heart he carries the key".
Love you Mom. You passed Wednesday, March 1, 2017. You never left me.
theres only one singer for this ....Snatra |,Heart Warming .
just heard this banger in young at heart with Frank and Doris. had to thumbs it up real fast.
This is my lullabye to my 1 year old son and I am 29y/o now. I heard this music on Filipino movie, and since then i always sing it.
Ese no es Sinatra❗😳
love this in young at heart
Sinatra sang this song numerous times. I think it was one of his favorites to sing.
bellima melodia del 1926 di G.Gershiwn Benito Mirabella-Internaz-Piano -bar Napoli
I have guardian angels, but know I can truly count on. How sad is that. Oh well!
I love "most" music. But at 57 can never get enough of Frank. so smoothe, melodic, as it courses through you.... Face it, he made ALL women feel special. I especialy like when he played the part of Barney Sloan in the movie "Young at Heart" What a crooner, and that cocky Italian personality..... I think the VHS tape has seen its better days. lol
Maureen Welsh howan
A wonderful song from a wonderful movie--YOUNG AT HEART. Oh, Frankie, you're the best! Thanks, catman for this! Appreciated!
Wonderful interpretation !
This song, this singer, these songwriters. A gem of American culture and a piece of the national heart to be cherished forever. Timeless, tender, and as moving today as ever before.
musso ❤❤
Look I like trap music and all that stuff, but it's always good to hear frank once in a while
Beautiful. I love Sinatra's earlier albums, so romantic!
Can someone please tell me wat this genre of music is??
It's a Broadway show tune performed as a romantic ballad with an incredible string arrangement by Axel Stordahl and wonderful vocal by F.S.
@catman916 thanks :)
You're welcome.
The old standards
Back when Frank could really sing!
Great version by the "Voice"
I remember this song when i was about 19 or 20 when it first came out. post war about 1946. a long time ago
I wondering If I'm you
Ken, it's just as good a song now as it was then. I'm 46 and have loved the Gershwins, Hoagy Carmichael, Johnny Mercer and all of the great lyricists and composers every bit as much as the 'classic' and 'contemporary' rock, soul, and R & B writers that i love. Thank you and your generation for showing the way!
@smilee You should delete your ageist comment, esp the ghosty-surprised emoti's. This was their music and they don't need your naive disrespect.
@Harry Lime Me too! I have the same taste in music as you!And this is coming from a 63 year old black man to boot!
@smilee hahahahahahahahaha, must've really love the song.
Thank You SB 🍀😇💋☘😎... And Thank You, God....
I know I am in the minority, but this is the Sinatra voice(mid 1940's) that I like the best.
I am in that minority as well!
You're not in the minority, my friend ... there's a lot of us still out here who feel the same way.
Trust me I feel the same way minority or not. I love his music
Brother your definitely not in a Minority . The WWll. ell generation is almost died out. My mother Graduated in 1946 she would tell me about girls passing out over this.
I like of this Frank, but I confess that I prefer the Capitol Frank.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIwjNpXjrds#t=246.862864 lady gaga does a rendition before she sings bad romance and it's sublime
Hi everyone! This is my piano version of Someone to Watch Over Me! I played it in a keyboard with a Fender Rhodes sound! I hope you like it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqoqhvdblfc
I'm a fan of rock, pop, the occasional rap "song", and modern instrumental orchestral music. But there's just something about the simplicity and sincerity of this kind of music that just plucks at my heartstrings every time. It strikes an even deeper chord now than it did when I was younger...
Try to sing a song without the music. You can sing most oldies without music, just cause they were great songs. simple as that :)

Joel Gawne We all mellow with age it is part of nature
