Sinatra, Frank - Little Green Apples Lyrics

And I wake up in the morning, with my hair down in my eyes,
And she says hi, and I stumble to the breakfast table,
While the kids are going off to school goodbye.
And she reaches out and takes my hand,
Squeezes it, says, how you feelin' hon?
And I look across at smiling lips that warm my heart and see my morning sun.
And if that's not lovin' me, then all I've got to say.
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime.
There's no such thing as Dr. Zeuss, Disneyland, and Mother Goose no nurs'ry rhyme.
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis when the winter comes.
There's no such thing as make-believe, puppy dogs, and autumn leaves and B.B. guns.
Sometimes I call her up at home knowing she's busy
And ask if she could get away and meet me, and grab a bite to eat.
And she drops what she's doin' and hurries down to meet me, and I'm always late.
But she sits, waiting patiently and smiles when she first sees me
Cause she's made that way and if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say.

  7. P.... O....

Dean Martin does a great version of this but something about Sinatra's that really gets you.

  8. N.... ....

Yes, beautiful, BUT...when Dean Martin sings it, it sound as if the song actually happened to him, that he LIVED it.

  9. V.... F....

One of his best songs for sure - I remember the first time I heard it - I ended up crying. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.

  10. D.... M....

Man what a classy singer. 21 years after he kicked off, still one of the greats.

  11. T.... ....

no such thing dr seuss Disney land and mother goose

  12. J.... L....

He always makes from a song a story.
I miss him sò much, but his music stays forever.

  13. P.... O....

Elvis, Frank and Dean case closed

  14. a.... t....

This song makes me remember my childhood holidays in Switzerland with my beloved dad. I miss him so much

  15. P.... R....

Dean Martin’s version is my top choice, then Tom Jones then Frank.

    P.... R....

Tom Jones had one of the best set of pipes in the business. Unfortunately they were wasted on him. Every song was an excuse to show off. Good taste is acquired; he ran with what came on the house, the pipes and his good looks. Both of them were blessed across the boards. Dean not only sang well, he could act and was a comic genius whose timing was second to none. Sinatra got there first and knew if he was going to stay, he had to get to work. He did. Many fine singers have come down the pike since. The best among them have all taken a little something from the guy who did his homework, his way, the Gold Standard when it comes to interpretation, Francis Albert Sinatra, personal preferences notwithstanding.

  16. S.... D....

So sad only 420 people heard it

  17. d.... ....

A great version, however I disagree that this is the best version. I encourage you to listen to Dean Martins version. It will quite literally take your breath away. Studio version, listen to the reaction at the very end by those listening and witnessing Deano.

  18. N.... W....

When Frank sings "little green Apples" you feel as though he is actually living the part and that you are in his Home as he starts his Day with his wife and Kids.

  19. D.... C....

    Lovely song.

  20. Z.... F....

    ear candy

  21. O.... G....

Neil Peart says this is the best version of this song. I enjoy it. Cheers!

  22. W.... B....

I absolutely love this orchestra sound!

I want and need to write some music like this, I’m beyond passionate about it, but I don’t know how...

I’m fortunate due to the fact I’m ready to start writing on software, but I don’t know where to start aha!

  23. m.... b....

    Einfach Klasse... Super

  24. L.... ....

Thank God he covered this song, i heard the O.C this morning and wondered immediately if Frank covered it!

  25. K.... R....

    Brilliant

  26. j.... ....

    Tom jones best version.

  27. j.... ....

Tom jones the best version of this song.

  28. G.... D....

such a beautiful, tender love song. Frank brings the right tone to this song, and, as he said, "this is a poignant love song, even if it doesn't even say 'I love you"

  29. L.... P....

A truly beautiful arrangement of this song!

  30. d.... ....

Deja vu. I first heard this album on a reel-to-reel tape at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam in 1968.

  31. J.... L....

    Wonderful song.

  32. R.... ....

Sinatra has sung it so beautifully. The best rendition of the song ever.

  33. J.... L....

    Äntligen !

  34. R.... P....

Sinatra and Don Costa... No better

  35. G.... T....

This song say's I love you, without ever saying it.

  36. t.... m....

Lovely , lovely version . Miss you Francis

  37. S.... S....

Hey God, enough with the apples, regardless of the shade. We could use another Sinatra and a Costa or two. Thanks!

  38. e.... ....

Is beautiful forever and ever. Thank you Frank, you are in the sky.

  39. o.... ....

this is the way every man wishes he could sing,

  40. J.... J....

Frank had that ability to totally inhabit a song... to live it.... breathe it.... bleed it......this is gorgeous beyond words

    J.... J....

Exactly he makes you feel the words.

    J.... J....

    Agree,agree feel the words

  41. w.... ....

Love it. My hair down on my eyes. That's optimistic for Frank in 1967-1968.

  42. C.... E....

  43. T.... ....

makes me want Carmel apples and to go apple picking lol.

  44. D.... D....

Fame comes cheap and easy these days.  Frank had real talent.

  45. J.... A....

La versión que más me gusta de esta canción. Gracias por subirla

  46. A.... M....

Esta canción me recuerda muchísimo a mi papá, tengo muy bonitos recuerdos.  Escuchaba la canción cuando ibamos en coche. Donde quiera que te encuentres, te mando un abrazo enorme. Te extraño mucho!!!!

  47. M.... T....

LOVE this version. There may be so-called "better" interpretations but they don't tug at my heart like the one here. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

    M.... T....

There were arguably better voices but rarely if ever better "interpretations" once Frank turned in his homework.

  48. 1.... ....

this version is really nice but the best version imo is by the late, great Paul Williams of The Temptations

  49. J.... R....

This is the most beutiful song I sang, in my opinion...

  50. A.... G....

Sinatra you could sing brilliant and no add ons like todays singers love this song so easyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  51. g.... c....

    Top Geezers too!!!!!

  52. g.... c....

To Richard and Dominic at the Mono Bar in Crouch End, thanks for one of the best eras of my life. Tip Geezers!!!!!!

  53. P.... S....

There are many versions of this on you tube but this is by far the nicest. Nobody ever sang a love song like Sinatra - beautiful.

  54. R.... C....

@SartoriTaurus I believe the song says that, if the things she does for him isn't loving him, then all the things that are true, are not true.
