Sinatra, Frank - Leaving On A Jet Plane Lyrics
All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
[Chorus:]
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go.
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go.
There's so many times I've let you down
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Ev'ry place I go, I'll think of you
Ev'ry song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll wear your wedding ring.
[Chorus]
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, let me kiss you
Then close your eyes, I'll be on my way.
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say,
[Chorus]

Sinatra, Frank Leaving On A Jet Plane Comments
Terrible. And I'm a Sinatra fan.
Found this from james Phelps :,>
Frank, the player. No regrets taking off again.
Amo essa música. Nessa roupagem, perfeita! 😍👏👏👏
Why does someone as good as Frank Sinatra do a cover which he must know is no where near as good as the original?
forgot how great a singer he was
This is my favourite version. Found it from “Benidorm”
me too, I love that program
Me too! I heard it so I searched "Leaving on a jet plane" and it came up with John Denver. I was like "...No... I know Sinatra, don't even test me" xD
Scottish Maniac 2 it’s my favourite too. Strange how almost every song Frank covers is the best version. My only negative here is that it leaves me wanting more. I wish Don Costa’s otherwise great arrangement kept the third verse in.
素敵❤
Im off to bed now
Oh yeah!! It doesn't get much better!!
And Frank Sinatra’s version is more defined with style.
Was the Wrecking Crew involved in this song?
Rainha da cocada me trouxe here.
Overly cheerful, upbeat, exuberant, swinging: the exact opposite of the poignance the lyrics suggest
Well he had to put his own spin on it, otherwise it would just be a rip off of the original John Denver tune. The point of a cover is to put your own touch on it. This was the style that Sinatra was known for, love it or hate it.
Who came here from Allec Joshua Ibay?
I’m enjoying this cut, weird though it may be. How much of the entire Reprise collection is here? I assume the total was many more than 127 songs…..
🔊 chills
"If you can use some exotic booze, there is a bar in far Bombay".... absolute love for this song from Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay), India.
Abhijit Kashyap Did you even listen to the song? You're quoting the wrong song...
Reference to Bombay is not in this song.
Lol this is great
Engelbert Humperdinck did it better
Wow ..... I remember when this song was first released back in 1969.
But it came out in 1971?
This song reminds me the golden years of Pan Am, I don't know why but this makes me feel nostalgic for the airline.
I know that Pan American doesn't exist anymore but the Clippers are still flying in my heart.
Thanks Frank Sinatra for this amazing song! And obviously thanks Pan Am for connecting the entire world with the unique style of the World's Most Experienced Airline :')
Ah, room SHerviSH. You have any SHnackSH?"
great track!!!
watched the movie the Rock and heard this version,
thats exactly what brought me here :)
Didn't know Sinatra did a version before the movie!
Terrible Version and I'm a big Frank fan. But this sounds like a bad parody of himself.
This hails from '69, a time when record sales for the greatest interpretive vocal artist from the greatest generation were taking a dip. Frank had already begun to loosen his grip on the reins realizing that a change, not unlike the one he himself had initiated 25 years earlier, had arrived. Shortly after this he announced his retirement, which amounted to little more than a three year hiatus. Most of us can't begin to imagine the kind of highs that occur in a life such as his. Fewer still consider the accompanying lows. What was he to do, continue to make records that didn't sell and not drop himself because he owned the label? Relevance is fickle, particularly in this business. Taste, today, is all but nonexistent. Criticism doesn't make it worse and praise won't elevate this over produced, three chord track to the levels he'd hit with such aplomb earlier. His career was winding down and his voice, a fragile instrument to begin with, was beginning to wane. He set the bar and met it throughout most of his career. This is Mantle on old timer's day, hittin' one lobbed to him over the fence. Give him a break.
this version goes down like a great cup of coffee on a beautiful September morn with an airy breeze blowin' thru your hair
No one could cover a song like Sinatra could. A cover of a John Denver and Peter, Paul, and Mary song. A beautiful cover of that song. Unfortunately music nowadays is shit: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Jason Derulo, One Direction, and Maroon 5. Time to trade in those people for the real artists of music: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Bing Crosby, Elvis, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Frank Zappa.
enema-m is a fucking piece of shit
You get NO argument from me!!
YOU FORGOT TRACEY CHAPMAN
You mised off Madness from the good list
@Anthony Fieldhouse yay!
great version of a well loved tune
its not a version? its the real one
@Leigh Dolan It's a cover of the John Denver song. And a very good one at that.
Oh Ok +unknown user
FRANK SINATRA-'NUFF SAID.
Just love this version sung by the Master, makes me want to get up and dance :)
super version of this fab song
Velvet Voice ......LOVE THIS!!!!
Agree - Sinatra puts a positive spin on the lyrics that were commonly interpreted as saddening eh?
Eric Dymond Absolutely!
best version of this song, EVER!!!!
