Sinatra, Frank - Lady Day Lyrics

Her day was born in shades of blue
Her song was sad the words were true
Her morning came too fast too soon
And died before the afternoon
Poor lady day could use some love, some sunshine
Lady day has too much rain
Poor lady day could use some spring, some breezes
Lady day has too much pain
It's such a lonely face
Such a cloudy sky
So many shadows in her eye
So many empty dreams
So many bitter times
Just a handful
Of broken rhymes
Poor lady day could use a smile, some kindness
Lady day has too much rain
Poor lady day could use some dreams, some flowers
Lady day has too much pain
Just too much to say
Just to much to know
Too little time to say hello
And then the evening comes
And now she doesn't cry
And it's too late to say
Good-bye

Siriusly Sinatra satellite radio is playing "Nancy for Frank" -- her weekly, three-hour program. Left Nancy a note, a moment ago: "Loving this 'NFF #475' on replay
-- not least because I cherish your historical notes -- and love your speaking voice! “When he made the album,” says Nancy a moment ago, “he recorded 'Lady Day' with a Charles Calello arrangement; however, the song was dropped from the album and that original version, with its contemporary feel, remained unreleased for years. My Dad loved the song, but felt it needed Don Costa's full orchestral treatment: So Don scored the song according to Frank's wishes: You know, it's kind of operatic! And it appeared on the 1970 album 'Sinatra & Company.' It's one of the best things on that album."

Thanks for this 'approved version' Frank Sinatra. Celebrated this night at Sinatra Family -- Forum -- "Siriusly Sinatra" -- NFF #475 https://sinatrafamily.com/forum/showthread.php/50443-NFF-SHOW-475-Week-of-August-18-2019-nbsp
