One of my all time favourite Sinatra ballads. Way on top of the list. Saw him
Perform it live in Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium on 25th September 1986. Absolutely breathtaking! I‘ll never forget this!

I grew up listening to this music thanks to my parents. They're gone now, but every time I hear Frank or Nat King Cole or Dean Martin or any of the other great singers performing these wonderful standards, I thank my mom and dad for introducing me to such rich, great music.

When I went off to college I played Sinatra a lot in the dorm. My dorm mates, who were into Heavy Metal and Rock mostly (I was too), were confused at first, but this 'mom and dad' music grew on them. When I came back from a year abroad, I was astonished to hear Sinatra blasting from the dorm. I had made them all Sinatra experts by them having to listen to my tapes and records constantly. Then, a few years later, the movie 'Swingers' came out and my pals were all happy I had given them a primer on Frank and the Rat Pack, which now had become 'hip'. Life is funny. As I used to tell them, 'You can't go wrong with Frank. Not with the chics, or the guys. You simply can't go wrong with Frank.'

I was in the Stage Musical of, "Pal Joey"...and this song has always been one of my favorites. This song was also sought after by the studio who produced, "Bewitched". But alas they didn't want to pay for it. Either or...no one could sing this song like Frank.

The best from the greatest voice ever

This is the 1963 version of his recording of this great Rogers and Hart song -- he did a version in 1957 but I really like this one best - it's much richer vocal and orchestration.

The two who set that bar in '57, Sinatra & Riddle, are the same pair who surpassed it here. Were they mutually dissatisfied with the first? That seems hard to imagine. Did Frank alone just know he could surpass that previous rendition? That's a lot of work for Nelson to create a second arrangement at the same tempo, in perhaps the same key (I didn't check), with all those strings again leading the way. Especially considering most would agree they'd hit it out of the park once already. Were there significant improvements in the technology? Did the room, mic placement, engineer or other intangible play a role? Who knows? Perhaps it was just one of those things. Frank certainly was in particularly good voice for The Concert Sinatra, that's evident throughout.

Amen to that! and might I add that when he worked with Tommy Dorsey, the two men would go out drinking till 3 and Frank would be leading the orchestra from like 6am till Dorsey would come in at about noon.
