This version is good but the 12 inch version is amazing. That version flows whereas the 7 inch version sounds like it has been edited too much.

You're right. The extended ending is breathtaking and awesome. And also at the very end of 12" version you can hear some extra lyrics like "You gotta move ..."

I traveled to England as a teenager in 1987. I took my Sanyo portable radio and cassette player to record music from the radio there. It was 3 am and I found this alternative radio station, there I learned about the Ramones, The Cure and Simple Minds! They played Speed your love and I thought it was the best thing ever! I wanted to jump and dance! But i couldn’t it was too late. Back in America I showed all my recordings to my friends.

THIS is literally my favorite song ever! When they played in Rochester NY in '86, I got my way to the front of the stage. When this song started, I was so freaking excited. During the chorus, he came to our side of the stage, crouched down and held my hand. Not sure how I didn't pass right out. 33 years later, I can remember every moment...

It's positively criminal that Simple Minds have not yet been inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! Ditto for Echo & the Bunnymen and The Psychedelic Furs.

First they created musical iconostasis of the 80s- New Gold Dream. And two years later, this pure tsunami. Guitar-easily the strongest intro to one real r'n'r' storm. But God, wtf is going on in 1:31!? Musical Supernova? So lets make a summary: '82 New Gold Dream as absolutely the best as a whole; '84 Sparkle in the rain, with this and other bombs; and just couple of months later, in '85 Once upon a time. Did ANYONE had such a production with so many pure masterpieces. No way. Maybe I am wrong, but DD was always easy, SB had couple of direct hits to target, but because of obvious reasons, as such was, only SM deserved to enter to the real Hall of Fame. Punctum.

Saw Simple Minds on Sons and Fascination, New Gold Dream, and finally this tour. Blown away each time. I spent my university years wanting to be as cool and alien as Jim Kerr. I still go through S&F kicks in particular - the ethereal surreality of that output still can knock me clean out of this world.

Everyone had their own style and personality..much simpler times when people actually communicated and weren't afraid to be emotive and put oneself out there.

I was a teenager in the 60s, after 73 the music went to sheet, then came the new wave to save us, but here we are once again, surrounded mostly by sheet, you have to wade through a ton of garbage to get to a life raft these days.

When I was a kid in the 80s, whenever Simple Minds came on, I was glued to the television. There was something incredibly magnetic about Jim Kerr. The way he looks into the camera with those eyes. Such a fantastic singer and band. I'll always love this band. 💕

Most of my life, all I knew about Simple Minds was "Don't you forget about me", and I'm pretty sure that's the case with most people on the planet.
But as I listen to more of them, I realize just how incredible some of their songs are. It's not that "Don't you forget about me" is a bad song, It's good. It's just that it's all anybody plays by Simple Minds, and they have so many songs that are so much better. I absolutely fell in love with this song in particular.

Totally agreed. Same with depeche mode and duran duran. Even crowded house. I'm in my early 30s and also only ever heard their radio-played songs... until a few years ago. They all have epic stuff that many people never experience
