Simple Minds - Celebrate Lyrics
Act of love
Is a luxury
The suit he wears
Belongs to me
The road is long
Soldier talk
And uniform
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate
She rag doll
Keeps him warm
This negative
Shows no form
He salutes the crowd
"Go west young man"
Run run run
The hollow man
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate
To a distant land
Sand and sand
Touch to touch
A marble man
The house is glass
Furniture's chrome
Soldier talk
And uniform
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate
We can live
I can live
Celebrate
Celebrate

Simple Minds Celebrate Comments
Oooh, I'm back in the Rum Runner on Broad Street 1981; there was a very fabulous girl that dressed top to toe Kahn and Bell - I used to wish I was her - she had a very stylised dance style and this was one of her signature tunes..... forty years later I'm still jealous.................
Derek Forbes' bass guitar sounds so much like a funky version of a double bass on this track, it is captivating!
Great album for the time. Love it. Bought it when it came out. And never stopped playing iit even till today.
My mate sang salad cream. What an idiot.
One of the best new wave songs! Let's Celebrate!
I loved it then and I love it just as much now.!!...love the deep basy tones, so great to dance to. It does not seem that long ago that we danced to this at the clubs.... where has the time gone???
This sound Best simple minds...
Another party track :)
How do you create musical greatness?---Listen.
and people compare u2 to the Simple minds... no comparison
I loved this when I was a kid. But I never understood the lyrics. Can anyone enlighten me??
Yes, it celebrates life.
great track! i travel was the A side
100 % New Wave...80's and pure fresh air from Brits...Thanks...From a near old man now
thank you for putting up the lyrics cause fuck knows what hes saying normally, one of the best bass players ever , a hidden gem like john megough
This is a good rhythm to accompany any hornpipe,
or any 4/4 tune played as a hornpipe,
in the key of G.
It puts a celebratory skip into going 'Over the Moor to Maggie'.
Thank you Grayham Clutterbuck thank you YouTube and thank you England
best Album of SM - epic
Great masterpiece!
80s was my life, and still is, dont want anything else, SM were my life, and TFF also
Sound DOSIS
I always think of Gary Numan's Metal when I hear this one.
They did tour together x
Excelente! (y)
Rock And Rollllll!
Just too good; I had a 12 inch EP with this, and extended mixes of Changeling and I Travel on it, gosh I was about 12-13 when I had it. Best 3 songs that they ever did in my opinion.
ralucagymnast
I had the same 12”. I sold it. Biggest mistake of my life.
... 2y2d.org (english-espanol-deutsch) --> empowered by the energy of simple minds <3
He salutes the crowd
I've always thought that at this point Kerr modelled his vocals on Stephen Mallinder of Cabaret Voltaire. Ironically the album this comes from predated 'Crackdown' by a couple of years, so Simple Minds were ahead of the game at this point. 'Empires and Dance' is a stunning album which they never quite came close to matching.
on 0.55 there is a shout in the back of the song saying ''ELA MITSO'' meaning in greek come here Mitsos! lol
Epic intro.
I just found that 12", the mastering is great, really loud, f*cking incredible.
Collared this stuff in a self imposed bundle, some time after buying New Gold Dream which itself was bought very swiftly after ..."Sparkle...", as a U2 fan these guys became worthy equals, great times too. Youth is so beautiful x
you lacky bastard!!
Had a 12" single with this, I Travel, and Changeling on it. What a collection of tunes. Amazing.
It's an awesome piece of music and I wonder why they continue to ignore the 12" mix. The way the beats at the end go out of time with each other is genius and something I can't recall elsewhere. It made dancing to this track just incredible, inspiring, euphoric.
Plus Sons & Fascination for old timers like me - totally agree!
Plus Sons & Fascination for old timers like me - totally agree!
This album Celebration was the" Best Of "their first 3 albums-and it's great!
(Don't bother buying the albums)
A great pulsating dance beat and abstract lyrics.
It was a track intended for Empires and Dance but was rejected by Arista at the time, although they stuck it on Celebration complitation album after the band had split from them and signed with Virgin...
"We Can Live, I Can Live, Celebrate, Celebrate"
This is great stuff...their early days were days of creativity and experiment, of great sounds. The lost this energy somewhere along the way...NGD was their last great album.
"We can live, I can Live, Celebrate, Celebrate"...This is a masterpiece.
we listen this music very carefully
Ahhhhh.. dreams of youth. Don't make 'em like this any more ;p
It´s awesome definitely!!! These guys were so innovative and creative, so much experimental and original. We don't listen to music like that these days
Why have I not commented on this yet? One of their best songs off "Empires and Dance". Sexy, slinky, and totally with that abstract, New Wave flavor.
therealsoulproduct ever just reply to a 9 year old comment
weird - I was having the same thought
Came from a great album.............
