This is the version that inspired Eric Burdon and the Animals, and while I will always dearly love their version, I can also appreciate this version as the one that inspired them to make the one that became a Number 1 hit.

Definitely not the "best version" way too upbeat for this very sad song. Nina Simone is a great singer though, and should stick with upbeat jazz and not heartbreaking blues.

This is so brilliant. I'm so glad that Nina decided to become a jazz artist rather than a concert pianist. Reminds me of the song during the bowler hat scene in the remake of "'The Thomas Crown Affair' movie with Rene Russo and the ex-James Bond guy Pierce Brosnan.

Good tune for Fallout 5 as supposedly New Orleans is the next stop in our tour around the apocalyptic world :)
