Simon, Carly - The Love's Still Growing Lyrics
And I'm so high
I can't go on
Oh but I
Can sing this song
And the love's still growing
Some folk say
That all hope is gone
But today, the world is one
Because the love's still growing
And the love's still growing
It's time to say
that it's O.K., that some must go.

Simon, Carly The Love's Still Growing Comments
This song makes me want to get high
A long time ago Carly Simon sang this great tune. And here it is! One of her absolute best.
I'm sorry, but the sound quality on my PC is nowhere near my old reel to reel recording of this tune. The bass is just not there on the PC.
The band I was in 1970 did this song it is absolutely beautiful and hold the same kind of meaning. It is in a special tuning and if anyone knows the chord forms please post them.. The band is together from 70 and we want to do the song but our guitar palyer that used to play it is not with us.. My wife still has the beautiful voice she had back then . If we do it I will post
That twelve string guitar.
Good chance it belonged to Hendrix.
This album was recorded at Electric Ladyland Studios. Hendrix's destined workplace.
Hendrix died before he got a chance to really use it.
I would love to hear you and Buzzy sing this in harmony !
Buzzy Linhart wrote this amazing song, but sadly he's very pitchy singing it... Carly did this justice in a major way.
Too commercial, but good, nevertheless. Buzzy's original version was from the heart - that of the composer - and surpasses this rendition in every way.
when did you stop writing and singing?
This one was written by her Friend (and my dad) Buzzy Linhart, but yes, she amazing has been doing this since childhood...
I have 40 new songs, and we just recorded live on stage 2 months ago, the exciting thing is that, they are starting to say that they can't find any much damage I've been praying to Jesus and a blue light appears and a wonderful smell that takes all my worry away. I've been saving what I think are my best new songs for years, for the right time. I'm hoping Bette Midler or Danny "Kooch" or uncle Will Lee, are Chris Huston or Edwin Kramer, OR Jack Douglas will produce, dr. John and Steven and Taj Mahal said they want to play!
"All play With Jimi"
V1
Just "Jimi Hendrix did not die in vain if I ain't wrong, I feel as if he hears me every time I sing this song,
I swear his Spirit Shines on me each time I even try,
WE will ALL PLAY WITH JIMI
By and by, oh yeah, we will all sing with Jimi in the sky!
think back when there was nothing to loose
write like you used to
First time I'm hearing the song and its simply beautiful. Love the song. Carly sounds beautiful singing it.
Bleecker Street Greenwich Village in The 60's - Suzzy* & Maggie Roche "The Love's Still Growing". The best modern version by far...if you can find it.
hey Uri Athens Ohio early 70s, i think i remember spending a couple weekends down there running around with a good friend attending OU,wonder if we ever passed by each other in the haze.
gene wood we certainly did if we smoked that award-winning hydroponic Athens purple
When I did a search for this a few years ago there wasn't a trace of this. Love Love Love this piece.
Beautifully Haunting.
You mean hauntingly beautiful!
IMHO, the most beautiful song she's ever performed.
BABABOOEY
Howard loves Buzzy Linhart!
I prefer Buzzy's version ... but this one is cool too ..
We all know Buzzy wrote this, but Carly's version, with that sweet voice, is just incredible. Probably my favorite Carly Simon tune
I think I agree. And look at the great work she's done!
Buzzy's version is more from the heart, as composer and interpreter. Carly, as usual, is strictly commercial (but good, nevertheless).
@Clamchucker Maybe you're right about Buzzy's version--but it's just your opinion, same as anybody else's. Your comments about Carly's recordings being "strictly commercial" betray your ignorance of much of her considerable catalogue. If you really believe she doesn't sing from the heart and you're capable of maintaining an open mind, I suggest you check out her album TORCH. (It preceded Ronstadt's standards album by at least a year., and was a commercial flop at the time.) It contains some original songs that were definitely penned and sung from the heart.
@northernmuse9 It is indeed my opinion, but I must disagree and maintain my opinion the Simon's version was strictly commercial. It is okay in my book to disagree then and now.
She didn't write it!!!!!! Buzzy Linhart wrote it.

Written by Buzzy Library. Beautiful version of a great song.
Buzzy Linhart! Your predictive text caught you..
This song is buried in my memory from 1971(?). My brother was going out with a girl from Nutley - a lovely bunch of people, summer, college days - and this song. What a gem. And only 625 views?! Well, if that's the way you've always heard it should be....
EB, We performed in Nutley New Jersey at the "escape hatch", and the great Joey George opened, twice! It was weird ..you had to crawl down through a hole in the ceiling to the stage I'm not sure why ..Thanks for the Memories
One of the very best, but least-known, Carly Simon songs ever recorded. Thank you!
