I am blessed that I came upon this video tonight, it reminded me that you had written it about the love you have for your son Ben. I really needed it today. While I should know better (and really I do) then to believe that my husband of 25 years, Blake will ever be someone I should trust with my affections... We have not been romantically involved for a very long time... Somehow when he is doing his best to convince me that he would actually consider me as another human being in a romantic relationship I lapse into wishful thinking and for a second I hope it could be true... My silly wishful thinking is thankfully soon shattered as he (insert any man I have ever loved here) manages within minutes to treat me as the doormat I am in his eyes. Damn, the truth hurts. I keep thinking over the years that somehow I will find another answer to this equation, but it seems to be the lesson I have chosen to learn over and over in my life. It is the recurring  theme for all the awful endings I have come to find an once again I am utterly shattered, always the fool. I finally embrace the bewildering hopelessness of  something wonderful and good coming out of any relationship a man might have with me, its not going to happen. I knew this when I was young and strong and was careful to never let anyone close enough to let it happen. Somehow I would find foolishly find the courage in spite of myself to let hope come into my heart and find myself fooled, hopes dashed, hope and self confidence destroyed once again.Its comforting to remember the amazing feelings I had, the indescribable love that fills my heart still when I think of  the moment when Trevor was born and so many times since then when I think of how blessed I am to have ever even known him... He (and my daughter Chelsea) along with my older brother Sam are the the very best souls I have ever caught a glimpse of and I am forever grateful to have known them
I need to p[int this lesson on the walls of my heart so that it will never happen again.

I will be forever grateful for waking up today, in time to at the very least do all I can to make sure that our children will come through this with whatever tools I can possibly offer them to see them through and on their way when I am gone. Several times during the last couple of weeks, rather than start my morning with the headlines and whatever else is happening in the world, I've instead begun the morning enjoying Carly Simon's music.  Highly recommend it.....and while I didn't see clouds in my coffee this morning, when I poured in the creamer for my 2nd cup, it did form a perfect heart. 

What headlines? :-) Keep it up - music is the universal cure for all the stupidity and filth that encroaches on our lives.

The first time I heard this song after becoming an Aunt, I dedicated it to the 3 loves of my life.  I am the proud Aunt of Alexander, my sun; Rebekah, my moon; and Emma my star.  They take my breath away everyday, and they aren't even mine by birth but I can't imagine loving anyone more than I love them.  I love you always and you are growing up into amazing people; people I would be proud to call friends.
