Silent Planet - Orphan Lyrics

Respective perspectives worshiping directives
Blindly killing for our dogma
Until our sons meet in the garden
Torches scald the night sky;
The youth rise up and set their elders to the gallows
Fire in the lighthouse
All our advances, a spark away from conflagration

In the night I saw you fall, oh wicked star
Illuminate our hate, show us who we really are

Books were burned away, only swords remained
The prophets died for peace, stabbed by preying priests
As the wise man said I'll keep my heart and lose my head.
Without a neck how can I sink with a millstone to the bottom of the sea?
The bottom of the sea
And I’m finding the violence, it looks like me

Singing songs of life when all we know is death
A world of orphans left empty-handed
If love’s a sin I’ll become a heretic

Recurring intervention:
Framing the narrative to cleanse our tainted conscience
Harvesting destruction:
Reaping the sow from weapons planted in the soil

Terrified little son, encumbered by your sword
You can hide your fear but won’t shed the sheer
Weight of your own humanity - humanity
You can face me towards the mountains
Where I meet our Mother’s gaze
Too blinded by this hatred to recognize your brother’s face

Singing songs of life when all we know is death
A world of orphans left empty-handed

I’ll collapse, head parting from my weary shoulders
Seeds of life spilling from my palms
Subverting love will take hold in this hateful soil;
My blood is the water. Inshallah, Shalom
Love will take hold

Silent Planet Orphan Comments
  1. H.... N....

What people see and hear from this is angry white men are causing the deaths of brown people.... that shows a complete ignorance of not only the history of the middle east but also south America. what can you expect from a "christian" band out of California though.

  2. d.... P....

    love will take hold

  3. j.... s....

Im missing these guys with ABR this weekend, if anyone goes then you are really fucking lucky

  4. G.... F....

was a group home kid. treated like a juvenile delinquent, i had no choice where i was. thank cps for that shit. i learned quickly how evil people are. joined the military at 18 and learned quickly again how to discern a friend from a foe. a user from giver. a lover from a hater. sadly, there is more of the negative than the positive thus far.

  5. N.... O....

    Technology....

  6. c.... ....

Are there credits for the videomaking? I'm writing an analysis on this piece and I'd like to credit the videomakers properly.

  7. w.... m....

Im hit by "I'm finding the violence, it looks like me" I'm a wrecking ball as the great miley cyrus once put it

  8. p.... ....

Love to hear an 8 string album by these guys.

  9. M.... ....

I would give an entire testicle for that ending groove to go on longer

  10. G.... F....

This song is fucking amazing.  That intro gives me chills

  11. C.... ....

I fucking love the poetry and the accompanying metal. Goddamn geniuses

  12. O.... G....

You can hear the passion in his vocals and the instrumentals. You can feel how genuine they are in talking about these issues. It makes it so much easier to invest in a band like this.

  13. w.... ....

Oh god I was not expecting those cleans

  14. R.... C....

the video looks like it wants to bring people together but at the same time reinforces the same old divisive stereotype.

  15. J.... ....

The guitarist seems like an interesting fellow

  16. K.... ....

    Powerful lyrics 😮

  17. B.... ....

i got a scientology ad for this vid lol

  18. S.... k....

So they considered a Christian rock band or not I can't figure it out??????

  19. B.... F....

    Silent Planet = Art.

  20. M.... A....

"Singing songs of life when all we know is death. A world of orphans left empty-handed." <3

  23. J.... P....

All seeing Eye at 3:40, What does that mean?

  24. C.... R....

This is awesome, but reminds me of Architects too much.

  25. J.... A....

The best lyricist in the past 30 years is Garrett Russell. AND I'M NOT EVEN CLOSE TO EXAGGERATION.

  26. L.... F....

can someone give me some context to this video?

  27. D.... S....

This band as a whole is quite good

  28. c.... m....

    this drummer is sooooo sick!

  29. S.... ....

The beginning sounds like Life, Scars, Apologies from Since October. What the heck, Silent Planet haha?

  30. a.... s....

Im new listen your music, great genre and perform, 👍

  31. H.... A....

The ironic part is that the Muslim dude would be cutting the Christains throat, not the other way around. In fact, that's happening right now by the hundred in the Middle East.

But no, keep pushing your agenda.

  32. V.... A....

My goodness..thanks to your music my love for heavy metal lives on.

  33. r.... R....

Amazing video positive message , its great.

  34. M.... J....

I met Garret Russell (vocals) on Warped Tour (btw they are AMAZING live) and ya know how rockstars can be stereotyped as drug-addicts and selfish and caught in the fame? Garret Russell is the complete opposite. He is the sweetest most genuine guy. He loves meeting Silent Planet fans and loves what he does. He is so open minded and loving and caring. Every song has such a strong meaning and the way it's written is just so beautiful and creative. I cried when I met him, he is such an inspiration to me, Silent Planet needs to be known by the world.

Right after their performance a HUGE line was at their merch tent (I met him before) most of them listening to them for the first time but already fell in love. Thank you Silent Planet for all you do and stand for rock on dudes and preach <3

    M.... J....

Saw them tonight. He spotted me singing along at times. When The Contortionist finished their headliner set and everybody was leaving, and Garrett was still talking with people! He approached me and asked me not only how I was doing, but my name as well. Not once had any artist before asked how I was feeling, and he was dreadfully sick. I told him they were excellent and that I hoped we crossed paths again someday... to which he said, "we will, we will." Even though he wasn't feeling good at all, he still came out and performed a 40 minute set, as well as hang around to talk with anybody! I aspire to love even half as much as he does. Thank God for people like him.

    M.... J....

I saw them in Baltimore the other night and this is so true. The love coming off Garrett was very powerful.

  35. L.... ....

These guys just took Northlane’s game and made it more catchy in their own way what the fuck!

  36. J.... ....

I was already in love with the song. Now I am in love with this video.

  37. R.... J....

caught their guitar pick last night

  38. J.... j....

why put a Masonic eye symbol in the video?

    J.... j....

Contrary to this record label this band is extremely luciferian and Marxist. They support communism and the destruction of the western world. They are anti white and pro murder of whites. It's sickening to see them looked up to as some Christians but they are only playing the wolf in sheets clothing part for fame.

    J.... j....

Yeah, I thought that was pretty weird. Seems like some crypto-Luciferian new age shtick. Admittedly, some of their stuff is quite thought provoking & powerful.

  39. A.... S....

Heard you guys at Warped Tour in Scranton this year, just walking by. It had to be fate guiding me to such an amazing band! Just discovered you guys two days ago and I'm already head over heels! I love it all! Keep up the amazing work!

  40. B.... S....

Silent Planet's videos remind me of Eminem's. They are almost always depressing asf

  41. M.... A....

Mitchell, you're doing BIG things. Hope all is well man!

  42. 0.... ....

    A world of orphan left empty-handed. If love’s a sin I’ll become a heretic.

  43. C.... M....

Silent Planet is love, Silent Planet is life.

  44. D.... C....

Pretty sure 25k of those views are from me 😅😊

  45. a.... ....

I love this band, my lord is the clean vocalist awful live.

  46. J.... M....

    Weak ass pussy music

  47. D.... P....

I could only imagine having half the talent for writing that Garrett has.
FUck he's such a good lyricist

  48. r.... k....

one of my favorite songs by them

  49. R.... N....

How the hell the drummer survives throught a hole concert?!

  50. B.... B....

Not much into the new age metal coming out but I have to admit that Silent Planet is on a whole new level

  51. T.... B....

So that man is making a bomb or some explosives and the man with long the beard acknowledges what's he doing through the window... beard man is holding a knife; rosary praying??
    are they brothers?
they're face to face, is he intending to hold the knife on that man to stop something inevitable??
    'ts haunting
    Well I love Silent Planet

  52. x.... ....

I think The Night God Slept sounded better in terms of mixing & recording. More full and heavy, drums had more impact, guitars has more character. Everything Was Sound sounds a bit like their sound lost some weight. Anyone thinks the same?

  53. N.... ....

1:33 "Blunts will burn away" lol

  54. L.... ....

I got a "Help Syrian Refugees" ad on this video. Seems about right

  55. N.... B....

I love the new Oh Sleeper...wait lol

  56. c.... ....

Can't get enough of this band. Stoked to see them tonight in Denver. Check out my top 5 songs on my channel! https://youtu.be/-E0Aox704iA

  57. J.... B....

I really appreciate the fact that the lyrics are truly related to something, not like the mayority (IMO) of lyrics nowadays.

    Much respect.

  58. a.... 1....

this song makes me tear up everytime

  59. C.... W....

Seeing our leaders turn the other way from desperate refugees is so angering and heartbreaking. Thank God for people like Silent Planet at times like this.

    C.... W....

then we have the lovely alt right and other groups spreading some of that nice misinformation its honestly sad that we can easily be swayed by hatred and ignorance

    C.... W....

The leaders of the U.S. are suppose to do whats best for the people and country. It is not their role to provide charity or aid to other countries unless it benefits us. That role is left to the citizens and the churches.
You yourself need to make the choice to help people, not demand that the government should help because you feel bad.

  60. E.... F....

Not ignoring how great this song is or how much I love this band, but I really want to meet the person who makes Silent Planet's videos.

    E.... F....

Hey there. I make Silent Planet's vids :)

    E.... F....

Well, you are certainly good at it! I would love to shadow you behind the scenes one day.

  61. A.... J....

DUDE. My Mum works for World Vision! Really strange, but really cool!
    Amazing message. Amazing music!

  62. A.... S....

    3:40? Why?

  63. A.... B....

    3:41 gives me chills

  64. d.... b....

    where Spencer at man

  65. M.... M....

the circle pit was awesome but I'm only 12 so I wasn't able to participate in it

  66. M.... M....

  67. D.... C....

0:37 Why so sad Harley Morenstein?

  68. A.... o....

Nice to see a band in this scene with a meaning behind it again, not only in the lyrics but actually doing things to help the world. It's refreshing to see, oh and did I mention the music is sick as well? :)

  69. I.... I....

The drummer at 3:45 always brings a smile to my face lol

  70. E.... W....

saw them with norma jean and fortoday sat in san antonio and they killed it . one of the best newer bands out there . hard to find people with a true view of the world

  71. N.... L....

How does this only have 150,000 views!? A song like this deserves millions

  72. H.... ....

too many triangles and open chugs, sorry

  73. I.... L....

I appreciate the advocacy of donating to help Orphans/refugees and I appreciate the message of acceptance and uniting instead of fighting, but man, there is a subtle hypocrisy here that I can't ignore. There is also a willful ignorance that is equally frustrating.

Your God, the one you keep worshiping and idolizing, is the one who let those Orphans become Orphans. He is also responsible for the deaths of millions of children around the world that die of starvation, torture, murder, neglect, thirst, diseases, etc. If he is powerful enough to create us, why does he then watch as innocent children die? He either is a cunt who doesn't deserve to be worshiped, or he doesn't exist, and I find the latter to be more likely.

The other thing is that this sort of violence is primarily religious. ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the literally thousands of other Islamist terrorist groups have a religious motive, the Crusades, and the Dark Ages and witch hunts were fueled by Christianity, so on and so forth.

I do not understand how anyone can project a positive message while using the Bible as a sort of catalyst in any way. Silent Planet is a band of fantastic people with kind hearts. That is thanks to you guys, not some fuckin' Deity above us. You guys are great, you're talented, and you want to make this world better because YOU are good people. Let's leave the supernatural out of it. You don't need it to make a profound message and it actually detracts from it when you reference holy texts that literally tell us to beat and own slaves, to kill our loved ones if they do us wrong, etc.

    I.... L....

@Brent Wheeler I give no God any thanks if he allows millions of innocent children to die needlessly when he has the power to step in. I also then question your own morality if you think it's fine.

Fuck any Gods or Goddesses (of which there are apparently thousands)that sit idly by as such horrible suffering occurs. They are definitely NOT worthy of praise or worship.

Yet you have both the arrogance and apparent knowledge to know the ONE true god from the thousands of other fake ones and then try to ask me to praise them for granting me my life?

Nah. Not happening. If anything, I'll thank the vast cosmos for it ACTUALLY bringing my existence, not an unproven made-up skydaddy.

    I.... L....

I personally believe that God exists and is almighty, but I also believe that this life is a sort of test for our souls to see who gets to go to heaven or hell, therefore this world is imperfect and chaotic, while heaven will be perfect and hell is hell. God did create the world perfectly, but gave us humans choice and creativity and we choose to fuck the world up, not God.

    I.... L....

So you'll blame a God for the actions of people? When will humans take responsibility for what they've done?

    I.... L....

Only humans can change the way they think. Violence is in their hearts. Greed is in their hearts. But you'll blame the hand of the one that created them? His heart is not like ours.

    I.... L....

Icarus Lives I don't believe in god but if I did - I would think that omnipotence would make his/her/their logic totally different from ours. Where we see pain they may see something greater. I think we impose too much of our selves in our imperfect picture of what a god would really be. It's not just trying to imagine the scale of what god is - but a total unattachment from what we understand the human experience to be. To think god wants thanks, or needs you to align with a specific dogma is baffling to me, and proof to me that all of this was invented by beings with ego - us.

  74. W.... L....

I love this song thank you pepole

  75. e.... ....

fucking hell this band is awesom, brutally honest in his purpose. get this shit to a zillion views ! you guys are the sheeeeiiiit ! <3

    #newUnderoathvibesgoingon

  77. L.... V....

The first time I saw this video, I did not give much attention, I liked the music and sound.
The second time I saw it, the musical art and Images from them get very deep in me, a very good job.
And the third time I saw this, the images made me sad, of how the world or the people can change into this...

I really love the music of Silent Planet, and i hope they keep doing this for very very long years

  78. i.... k....

    underrated band.

  79. C.... D....

    This makes me happy.

  80. T.... 6....

Saw these guys together with ERRA, was incredible. Very passionate performers.

  81. B.... H....

This song hits me harder than my abusive father

  82. J.... R....

Sheesh. These mixes are gold. All their songs sound so good. (Sonically speaking. Compositions aren't bad either.)

  83. E.... R....

    planeta silencioso sempre 👍☺

  84. I.... P....

Wow, how have I just found this badass band? Fuck ADTR's new album, this shit is waaaay more entertaining!

  85. R.... ....

The mixture between post-metal/sludge metal, progressive metalcore and spoken word vocals is amazing.

  86. G.... B....

This band makes me feel like I stand for the most stupid things ever and my problems are dumb. Big big message. These dudes are doing something outstanding with their music and their voice.

  87. B.... G....

These guys are the future of music. Thank you so much for raising the bar, someone needed to.

  88. A.... M....

    is that a legator bass?

  89. W.... L....

  91. j.... d....

Can someone direct me to a song of theirs with more guitar I mainly feel like this is vocals and drums

  92. S.... ....

I used to be able to scream like that...I was a grumpy bear....heroin speaks

  93. O.... C....

The poetry involved in this band is stagnating. Truly exceptional! God bless SP!

  94. S.... ....

Not that it's necessarily better, but if you haven't, I recommend checking out their newest music at 1.25x the speed. It's gnarly, especially this song.

  95. R.... M....

Just when I think I can't fall more in love with these guys and their music...

  96. H.... B....

This is the metalcore I like mate
