Shirley Bassey - Moonraker Lyrics

Where are you? Why do you hide?
Where is that moonlight trail that leads to your side?

Just like the Moonraker goes in search of his dream of gold,
I search for love, for someone to have and hold,
I've seen your smile in a thousand dreams,
Felt your touch and it always seems,
You love me,
You love me.

Where are you? When will we meet?
Take my unfinished life and make it complete.

Just like the Moonraker knows his dream will come true someday,
I know that you are only a kiss away.
I've seen your smile in a thousand dreams,
Felt your touch and it always seems,
You love me,
You love me....

Shirley Bassey Moonraker Comments
  1. P puh6tfrz

Bassey sounds so much better when she just sings instead of screeching.

  2. 77J

I think Moonraker was really just inspired by Star Wars.

    P puh6tfrz

    Errrr… Do yuh fink so???

  3. I hate you mother-fucker!

Call me mad - if I could turn back the hands of time, I would like to be able to go back to 1979, turn up at Royal Ascot, in a Rolls Royce, suited and booted, in my top hat, simple watch the horses run, with this song playing in the back of the car. To top the day off, tuck into a nice trifle once at home. Now that's what I call the best of British 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  7. Nigel J. Abraham

I do remember at the time, Summer 1979, that the song was not considered by Radio DJs and music journalists as one of the most inspiring ever composed. Compared to the rubbish songs to come later as Bond signature theme tunes, this one certainly both outclasses these and some of the more raw themes of the early Bond period!

    I hate you mother-fucker!

Nigel J. Abraham: "I do remember at the time, summer 1979, that song was NOT considered by Radio Dj's and music journalists as one of the most inspiring ever composed....."

An interesting FACT that might help explain why. Do you know and till this day that Shirley Bassey is one of BBC Radio 1's most censored artists?

  8. B RI Charloe

I must have played this song a thousand times and it never gets old. John Barry forevermore.

  13. Jonathan Berman

I remember watching Moonraker, I think that was the first I saw in the theater, I liked Jaws but that movie went on forever... I still love the theme song though, it's got such a beautifully fluid '70s vibe thanks to the extraordinary Shirley Bassey.

At this age my life felt a bit like a late series episode of Mad Men...

  14. John Ashley

    My favorite Bond movie.

  15. willsnally

This is such a beautiful song, just comes second to "You Only Live Twice" by Nancy Sinatra in my opinion, yet such a sad song in a way too because it really gives a glimpse into what a genuine relationship based on true love and mutual trust could be really like if Bond could just find it within himself to make that happen. But he's a womanizer sadly who finds it so hard to find a woman he can finally settle with and truly commit to. Oh Bond, it's all a great big mess he's made of his life. 🙁😂😉

I thought I respected women purely because of manners, but later realized I wasn’t respectful mentally because all I wanted from ages 14-21 was sex. After listening to much of her music it made me actually think of love. Still being 21, I see why our openly explicit culture is judged. There’s no more mystery, or innuendo about anything, and this current culture has taught us to want immediate sex with no feelings. Shirley Basseys music makes me emotional to the point of tears and want to find out how to love.
