Shirley Bassey has a sublime voice; my father loved her & her songs form part of the soundtrack of my childhood. However, it's only now that i can truly appreciate how she interpreted the songs she sang & how she sang as a woman, sometimes wronged, but always a woman who loved. She was, is, glorious.

An all time great song sung to perfection by an all time great singer. Nice to hear her in a more subdued mode.. Shame on the people who gave this great performance the thumbs down
Perhaps it gets thumbs down because of the tape hiss. I have the LP and the CD, so I can listen to a clean version whenever I want. The hiss really takes away from a wonderful performance.

Scot we must be about the same age! I'm 54 so I was about 15 when I first saw Janis an sing this on TV - I was at a friend's house and was GLUED to the set and blown away aftewards and had to act normal in front of my friend and her family even tho I'd be totally thrown by it -intense memory even now 40 years later
