I saw her sing this on the British tour , better than the studio version , love this with the orchestra ... it was omitted frim the original LP & only included on the CD RELEASE so not known as widely as it should be

Bassey at her brillant best. Shirley responds to the music , the original studio track has a lightweight backing and the endjing here is better. Never forgotten hearing this on her British tour.

@moroc99 - The original music and lyrics were written by Toto Cotugno, Ornella Vanoni, and Segio Bardotti. Her friend Norman Newell stepped in to write the English Lyrics for Shirley. This was minor hit for Shirley in Europe, but you are so right that it should have been a bigger hit for her. The producer was 'Tower Bell Records' which went bankrupt in the 80's. Thus, there was little promotion for the record other than when Shirley would sing it live, mostly in the UK & Europe.
