Just to let you know, from a music perspective they aren't even close to plagiarizing. Different instruments/chord progressions/etc. Sheppard is more derivative from rock while Novocaine is more derivative of pop. They do have similarities, primarily when the chorus comes in but many other songs share this similarity, sorry that similarity seems to hang you up and has you convinced one song copied the other but that isn't the case here.

Seems like ur new to hearing 2 songs sound similar to each other, there are lots of songs out there who kinda sound similar but they used different genre in them, dont mind it and just enjoy listening.
