Sheik, Duncan - She Runs Away Lyrics
You may not see the end of it
But luckily she comes around
It isn't what she talks about
It's just the way she is
The darkness comes and the darkness goes?"
And she says, "Ooh babe, why don't you let it go?
Happiness ain't never how you think it should be so"
I mystified the simple life
I covered up with consciousness
I saw myself and broke it down
'Til nothing more was left
She saw the symptoms right away
"Sometimes the more you wonder why
The worse it seems to get"
And she says, "Ooh darlin' don't you know
The darkness comes and the darkness goes?"
And she says, "Ooh babe, why don't you let it go?
Happiness ain't never how you think it should be so"
She runs away, she runs away
And then you know there comes a time
You need her more than anything
You may believe yours are the wounds
That only she can heal
Then everything will turn around
She becomes so serious
What she chose to offer you
Was all that you could have
And she says, "Ooh darlin' don't you know
The darkness comes and the darkness goes?"
And she says, "Ooh babe, why don't you let it go?
Happiness ain't never how you think it should be so"
She runs away, she runs away
She runs away, she runs away

Best song for that girl you let go and regret.
I love you Duncan Sheik
This song is aesthetically beautiful! But it sounds like he's talking about a crazy bitch! I've been there...
I just love hearing this song. The beginning guitar intro, always reminds me of being in an empty room and playing guitar. It's got that echo to it .so cool sounding
Is good to have at least two serious lady loves. Why ? She runs away......
Only Two ? fuck ! I cannot get one.
Big Hits Of The 80's. She Runs Away, by Duncan Sheik. Unforgettable . Thanks. aaa
big hits of the 90's. excuse me. aaa. fuck !
She has seen the evil in this life. If she doesn't run she'll be a part of it and be full of regrets and sorrow.
Fantastic song and video. I feel wonderfully melancholy at the moment. This song swims in it in a good way.
was about to shit on this and then I listened...great stuff here
Funnest movie in my life when I call people out when they lie to my face they run away and don't come back why cause they know I see everything from the darkness eventually Comes to the light
Great song! Oh, how I miss these days. Nostalgic, gobbledygook- I love it!
One of my most favorite songs ever. Thank you Duncan....
This is a GREAT song from one of my Top 10 of all time albums (Seriously. I love it that much!) but I am just not feelin' the whole vibe of this video.
And after it's over, I run away singin'.... "For all the gooooood yoooou say you've done.... "
I used to read rolling stone. They had a great review of this album and I bought it. Will never regret it.
Hearing this makes me miss how my dad used to be. Loving, caring, smart, what happened to him. Sill love you dad
@MISSIE EDJ no lol
I was a 90s teenager/young adult and miss music with heart and deep emotion and meaning. I also love and miss late 90s fashion. So smooth and mature yet youthful and not static and repetitive like fashion is today. No uniqueness in style anymore.
I think I already posted on this thread years ago, but...I saw him in concert several years ago in Las Vegas performing with Suzanne Vega. Great show, but he didn't perform "She Runs Away" which is my favorite song by him. (Also love this video.)I told him I was looking forward to him performing "She Runs Away" and was disappointed it wasn't included. I don't remember his answer exactly, but basically it just wasn't part of the night's repertoire. I get that he was sharing the stage with Suzanne and had to limit what he could do. Still too bad. ;-(
I can never find this version
This got me through a few break ups
2019? Anybody?
this song deserve more viewers
I made out with my first girlfriend to this album
I think this is the best opening song to an album, ever.
That last note on the guitar...
The 90's are calling me back. Damn, I miss them.
I won't run away....good God
slide....
re-visit... that's how good...
I just adore this song! It still has the ability to enchant me even after all this time! Thats the mark of a truly timeless classic. Thank you so much duncan for such a wonderful treasure!
Didn't know he made a video for this song....
I just frickin' LOVE this song!
Damn, now THAT'S a sexy man! 10 out of 10 and talented too. Hot hot hot. *howls at moon*
Such a completely underrated artist, but protected from the devil's fame machine.
You may not see the end of it

I mystified the simple life
I covered up with consciousness
I saw myself and broke it down
'Til nothing more was left
She saw the symptoms right away
And spoke to me in poetry
"Sometimes the more you wonder why
The worse it seems to get"
And she says, "Ooh darlin' don't you know
The darkness comes and the darkness goes?"
And she says, "Ooh babe, why don't you let it go?
Happiness ain't never how you think it should be so"
She runs away, she runs away

She runs away, she runs away
One of the most stylish music videos that came out from that time, and his effortlessly beautiful voice was undeservingly underrated... God I miss the 90s!
And I fell in love with him all over again...
He looks like he could've been Keanu Reeves' brother. Anyone else see this? No? Just me? Alright.
This would have been his follow up single 2 "Barely Breathing" if it made the hot 100 chart which sucked that it didn't. It got radio airplay in1997 though.
This song is majestically excellent, to me. I enjoy singing this a great deal.
Los 90's una década de grandiosa musica Duncan Sheik de mis favoritos.
great song
hes really good.. I saw him in the early 90s in a small night club....
SIgh. I was only 8 when this came out. But sure do miss the times.
still dig him 20 years later.
So good :)
one of the best songs from the 90s
Great album! Still love letting this album ride!
Beautiful
I gotta be honest: I'm a Sheikaholic, but I'm not a fan of this version.
Every song on this album was great. I bought it when it was first released. I miss the 90s.
I didnt appreciate rock alternative in the 90s barely breathing. Was tattooed in my brain. Recently i heard the song in my head.. Now i bang it often
Last decade of really good music~ 🎶🎤
Such an awesome song.
This song is fucking epic! Duncan, where u at boo? We need you back. Your voice is so different and special! Love from Cali
+juliagulia - He composed all the music for the new Broadway version of American Psycho!
+GjpgrD And his other musical Spring Awakening! =)
ugh. she runs away 98.
This is the composer of the truly great music from Broadway's SPRING AWAKENING!
This music video was on a sampler DVD that came with our first DVD rom drive... True for anyone else? Had two hootie and the blowfish songs, a Madonna live performance, rem, and some other stuff..
+Matt Rolando you are correct sir.
+Andy Smith Same here! Came with a Gateway my dad got back in 1998. He bought it when Gateway had brick and mortar stores with the black-and-white cow motif. The DVD also had the unplugged version of Clapton's Layla. Good times watching that DVD :)
+Andy Smith Same here. That's how I discovered Duncan Sheik.
YES! Came with our Gateway PC in 1998!
wow, that. reminds me of a similar VCD sampler I received with my pc back in 96. Come to my Window and some Alice in Chains song we're on it, followed by skiing footage
voice like honey
sums up everything for me..
He's still so hot!!
Love this song and Duncan's music huge guilty pleasure
well done tune
my fave
I missed out on this guy in the 90s! Glad I discovered him now at least :)
whole song is great since I first heard it in 1996 at 3:11 those strings gave an intense, sad ending, as seen in this video
Man, I still love this song soooo much, classic
coool video, I almost think I get it it but until...DShiek you are awesome dont let nobobody get you down. you touch a lot of people...don't ever stop
I adore this entire CD. Have loved you my friend since day one. Perfect.
Duncan Sheik is fantastic. love the music.
It's been 14 years since I seen him at the met cafe in providence. His art has brought me such joy. What a amazing man
Such an awesome song!!
13 people need to run away.
Ahhh, the '90's.....good music, good times. I always liked him, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and the Gin Blossoms.
simply don't make music this good anymore.
Good stuff <3
Love this CD to death. This is my favorite version. 1997 to 1999 music was crazy!!
Man! I miss those days. I was 18 through 20 years old. It had its difficult times too but, compared to now those problems were a peace of cake.
Before The Government Took Away Iodine And Added Toxic Chemicals, It Wasn't The Years In The 90's, It Was The Power The People Still Had Inside Them
Seriously, it was an amazing time for music.
He is as beautiful as his music! Been listening for years but never thought to check out his videos till tonight! <3
ShopRite music right here. Makes me miss going to the supermarket with my mother all the time back when I was younger lol.
Brandon Lievano I heard this song years ago at a big mall in Kingston N.Y. but ShopRite brings back memories I worked for Wakefern the warehouse that supplied all of the products for ShopRite
Im sitting here thinking the same thing. I wish I could go back!
I agree, friend.
this song stopped time and made a dimension own it's own, probably that is why that time was decade of blessed creativity among artist. so natural non toxic touch to music. (the're good arranging that acoustic)
OMG this version is better than the acoustic version!
Came back to hear some wicked sliding guitar... I feel better now.
I was about ten at that point lol and I still love his music as well. He's grown as a musician and he's wonderful to listen to. The 90's were amazing.
They play this on the Weather Channel all the time
Great song takes me back what up!!!
As an 80's kid, all this nostalgic talk reminiscing about the 90's is making me feel fucking old as shit.
I'm gonna go kill myself now...
The 90's music had a groove that was unique in itself.
what happened to music?
siiighhh...i miss the 90s
I worked at a supermarket in the summer and fall of 1997. They used to play this song over the sound system almost every day. I never knew the title or artist until I looked it up just now. Good song.
It also got a lot of radio airplay at the time but didn't make the hot 100 chart
I shared this video with my 19 year old daughter a few weeks ago - I haven't heard her opinion yet but we both have "Barely Breathing", our song by him in our playlists (YT for me)/ iPod for her.
I used to listen to this album to fall asleep. And that's a good thing. :)
I was in high school when this came out and I loved and still do love this song, I would listen to it over and over again
love this song its genius
Cuz She runs away, XD !!
i thought it was just me.
"Sometimes the more you wonder why
The worse it seems to get"
