Sharon Van Etten - Memorial Day Lyrics

Where do you always stay? Where do you stare?
When you look, what do you see there?
Come back with your head up
When you barely stand, when you couldn't ask

You, you will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)

You, you will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)

Back, you will stay
You will learn or you will do it again
Will you ever hold your ground? Will I ever pull your teeth?
If you barely stand, how do I let you leave?

You, you will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)

You, you will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)
You will run (you will run your will)

Standing, I can see
You will learn, you will run
(You will run)
(You will run your will)
(You will run your will)

Don't know what it is about this track, but it's one of the best songs this year. Such strong David Lynch vibes, I feel like I could see Laura Palmer slow dance to the beginning of this song before having some nightmarish vision when that chorus kicks in.

Was most drawn to this one immediately. Today I noticed a little video on Spotify when I replayed the song and saw Stella Mozgawa. I wasn’t even aware she contributed, but no wonder why I loved this one. Stella always helps bring the hypnotic groove. The album is great.

Looking at the credits of my album copy, Stella is actually only credited on the album closer song "Stay."

Same. This was the fishhook into the album proper for me.
