Shania Twain - (Don't Gimme That) Once Over Lyrics

How can you tell me it wasn't for real
Step into my shoes and see how it really feels
I know, I know why you do it
Still I can't stand you putting me though it

Don't gimme that
Once over
Don't gimme that
Once over
That's just on step over the line

Once upon a time I let you near
There was no reason that I had to fear
I know, I know it's easy for you to leave
But this it's better for me to give than receive

[CHORUS]

You made the place and time
How did you fake that crime

[SOLO]

Once in awhile I'll think of you
Maybe somethin' old or somethin' brand new
I know, I know I know where you'll be
Somewhere in the night lookin' for me

You can seek but you'll never find
'Cause you can't go back in time

[CHORUS (repeat and fade)]

Shania Twain (Don't Gimme That) Once Over Comments

Burning Rome’s “Once Over”. Vicki of BR and Shania would definitely not get the once over from me... check out BR’s version of 1982. Thanks!

This song came off her very first 1989 release titled "Once Over". She started out as a Rocker, not a Country singer. She was discovered by 80s Rocker Paul Sabu. Most of the songs on that release were written by Paul Sabu and Shania Twain and the album was produced by Paul Sabu, he also plays the guitars on this album. This was not meant to be a Country album but a Rock album. It's a shame most people don't know about this album. It's been re-released several times and there are at least 5 different covers of the CD release. I know this because I have all five of them.

    Amazon music brought me here

I wonder why she does not list this as her first record. She participated in writing many of these tunes! Thats more than most pop artists.

Written and originally done by the great Stan Meissner on his 1983 "Dangerous Games" album, which is a lost classic.

The Stan Meissner record is a cover of Burning Rome's song from 1982. So great!
