Yes, his voice has much less character and his music is completely derivative (and the tone of the instruments is god awful).

Derivative like, say, 90% of Elvis's 60s output? (Man those movie soundtracks, and Elvis is the greatest singer of all time). This wasn't Shaky's best period musically for sure, but his first three solo (Epic) albums were fucking superb. As is his new one.

David It's a shame you don't know the difference between instrument tone and production. There is nothing wrong with the instrument tone, Shaky had some of the best British musicians playing along side him. Shaky's later stuff suffered through it's production, in a bid to update his sound a little.

I'm actually a huge Elvis fan, but what makes you think some of his output was Any less derivative?, as another said, a high percentage of Elvis 60's output was terrible, in the form of those film soundtracks.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Shaky live many times, not only can the guy really sing live, but he always has a red hot band behind him.

I forgot to mention also, that Shaky was the biggest selling male solo artist in the 1980's and is listed in the Guinness book of records as the 16th best selling artist ever!!.

Sorry David, but you fall into that category labelled. . . think before you speak!

I was there that day! At Blackpool Winter Gardens with my dad! It was a Sunday afternoon show and they gave out leaflets to return later...he recorded the videos for this and My Cutie Cutie that night - it was absolutely fantastic!!!

I was there that evening. Shaky was doing a summer season in Blackpool, playing every Sunday night for a few weeks. I went every Sunday. As you mentioned, the two songs were recorded after a live concert , and it was very interesting to see the videos being recorded, and being there on the evening made it more anticipating to see the final released video. However , as this was recorded after a concert , and both songs taking several takes , upon getting back to the car park, it had closed for the night , and I had to climb over a wall and sleep in my car until the barriers reopened in the morning. Great memories.

P.s, Does anyone remember the name of the comedian who was Shakys support act?

+ROBIN F.C Ballard Nothing like Elvis Pal, Shaky has his own sound etc. Listen to Elvis and Shaky back to back, their songs sound nothing a like. If you think Shaky is another Elvis, then really you need to include all the other British Rock and roll singers, like Marty Wilde, Cliff etc, they all had traces of Elvis because he was such a major influence.
