This is the best Sepultura album tbh. That said, I’m more of a prog guy (the best metal sub genre, or genre in general, fight me) so I’m not a huge fan of this band to begin with

Overall this album is like a 7.2 out of 10, 10 being Octavarium good, 1 being saint anger good...
This particular band as a whole I give a 6.1 out of 10. 10 being Dream Theater, 1 being, I don’t know, black veil brides. But that’s just my opinion. The reason I like this album more than the band itself is because rhythmically this album is pretty complex in a way that works really well. Melodically it’s mediocre at best, but this is metal. Why would I even expect something besides Phrygian and pentatonic. Although, the song machine messiah is absolutely genius in terms of what they do with the tension they create, which there’s a lot of, super impressed with that particular track. Whenever I listen to it and close my eyes I can picture everything super clearly, just so badass.

The song itself is okay-ish, but when they played it live as their intro at MoR2017, I was totally blown away. It was so powerful, aggressive, straightforward, massive and fast! Like best of Carcass + some primal tribal energy. Sepultura is in a fantastic form right now. Hope to see them live again.
