Seger, Bob - Turn The Page Lyrics
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine moanin' out its one-note song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through
Here I am, on a road again
There I am, on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page
Well, you walk into a restaurant all strung-out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you as you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode
Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichés, is it woman, is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, so you don't dare make a stand
Here I am, on a road again
There I am, on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page
Every ounce of energy you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said
Here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, turn the page
There I am, on the stage, yeah
Here I go, playing star again
There I go, there I go

Seger, Bob Turn The Page Comments
Life can be put in a book and what ever page you turn your life can take any direction as you are in charge I think I took the right page.
Well said, couldn't agree more
Been listening to Seger for year's. Hands down good old rock n roll
Yes love this song 🔥🔥🔥
Don't feel much like riding. Just wish the trip was through.
Just good old southern rock music takes me back to the good days when life and people were simple than today’s idiots
This song was shown to me by my grandfather...the nostalgia almost hurts
One of Bob's best.Listen to how the song came to be.

I remember when I first heard this song in a gay bar (they were the only ones around in my area) back in '79 and met my girl and we clicked through our love of Bob Seger trivia. Love you Rhonda #UnderratedGem #BringBackBob #GodIsGreat
the memoreys this music brings back, the good and bad its still the best
Would listen to this with my mom. I miss that woman very much. 10 years without my mom and now I'm a mother of 2 beautiful children.
My cousins song for his funeral😭
Welcome, to the true man's world
This is one of the best old songs ever played...
I came here because of the 1998 Metallica documentary - The Making Of Garage Inc. I'd never listened to Turn the Page original song and I found it a very cool song! Despite being a Metalhead, total respect to Bob Seger and his fans.
This is my funeral song
Why so many dislikes??? Gtfo lol
I saw that. Couldn't understand it myself
When you figure out this song is about an acid trip
My best friend, may he rest in peace, drank beer with Bob Seger at Gem Beach on Catawba Island (Port Clinton, Ohio) in the early 70's. Can't imagine what that would have been like. When i'd refer to Bob Seger, he'd say, "That's Robert, to you!" as i didn't have that personal relationship. We listened to this song many times on my boat on the way to or from Kelleys Island. Miss you buddy!
Cant stand people comments about who's here in "year" stfu and listen to the music. This isn't a class room attendance is not required. Come in sit down have a drink and leave.
God I love Alto Reed, he just nails the mood right out of the gate with that perfect Sax solo!
Hang in there craig
No matter how hard I try,,, can't stop my foot from tapping along.. 😉😉👍

My cousin and i used to get into it about whos version was better...ol bob or Metallica.... he's gone now and im finally understanding his point a little. Rip hoagie
What the hell?
The road is life, the “here I go again” is the working man’s grind. That’s how I feel it and I feel it in my bones.
Junior in high school, my boyfriend and I "parking" in his old 4 door Toyota Corolla, seats let back as far as they would go, emergency brake digging painfully in my side, but said nothing; didn't want to ruin the moment, all while Bob Segar serenades us from the 8 track! What I would give to go back to that moment for just a few minutes just to experience one more time my first and only true love. Oh, what memories!
Awesome song
This song touches the heart

There I go.... Turn the page ✌️🌈💞😀
Listened to it in 70's as a young man now on my 60's one of the best. Metallica can't touch him
You were raised right!!!✌️😎💖
Metallica fan here, they were the ones that introduced me to this wonderful track here through their garage album, and I was quick to jump into research and land up on the original, personally love both versions, but the bob Seger original invokes such nostalgia, that is undeniable, this is music of the soul, as a kindred spirit, god bless you sir...
The word "banger" gets tossed around to lightly these days, however this is a absolute banging tune
Buried a good friend, a long time trucker ,,,,today. ,,,,67 year old. Cancer took him from his awesome family. See you down the road highway brother ! Green grass and High Tides. Now you can pick up your guitar and play again

6.2 can suck my dick
My grandparents used to play Bob Seger an amazing talent he has. One of a kind.
I deliberately looked this song up to further prove my theory that every GD serious song like this brings the "I lost my wife/husband/girlfriend/dad/mom/son blah BLAH BLAH and they loved this song " Shut the fuck up with the bullshit and stop wanting attention so bad.
This would make an excellant song for the final closing scene of Supernatural
Damn agree.. after all those days on the road saving people hunting this family business.. it fits damn right
I love when he screams ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!"
Dave Fenley brought me here.
Best Seger song.
Saw this live June 12 at DTE
Amazing
NEVER STOPPED TURNING THE PAGES, BUT I FIND MYSELF REVERSING THEM, ALWAYS TRAVELING BACKWARDS, SOMETIMES BACK ON " THE STAGE", LOST IN THE MUSICAL MOMENT & FLOW OF " THE BAND"( ROCK& ROLL, EAST MEADOW HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA , BAND & JAZZ BAND( KUDOS TO MR. JOE SEPI. COOLEST TRUMPETER & JAZZ DIRECTOR). SADLY, THOSE DAYS ARE MORE & MORE " LOST-NOT FOUND", IN MY MIND.
THIS ROCK IS WEATHERED AND CRUMBLING FROM STRESS ACQUIRED THRU THIS LIFE. NO REMEDY, NO REPRIEVE, ONLY DARKNESS & RELIEF.
Nicaragua loves Bob Seger....yes we [email protected]!!!!!
The most haunting song my soul has ever known. I was 18 on my Harley and lost in life and I had no idea of which way to go in life: I sold the bike, I went back to high school, then university and (somehow) I became an airline pilot. When I hear this song, it reminds me of how close I came to making a wrong turn on the road of life and being a nothing for evermore. When the sax plays, the sound resonates in my mind and it tells me this: "You were one of the lucky ones to get away. But, my reply is this: "It wasn't luck, it was hard work in disguise."
You sniff your own ass with that nose?
Hello from Croatia EU ....
fantastic....
If there is a song that can be said to epitomize the term "soul," this one is it!
This is the best music out there !!!..
I always wondered why my grandpa would always listen to this song. Can't think of a song that better describes the oilfield life. The hours of driving to the middle of nowhere texas, far from home. Spend 4-8 months working 60-80 hours a week. Get the job done go home for a week or 2 and then head back out to the next one. 40+ years he did that, im on my 5th. This will be the song i listen to until i die thats for sure.
fuck metallica...
This is my moms crush and I now see why I’m not gay but his voice is such amazing and it’s sounds amazing I wish I sounded like him
