this album is a masterpiece

This album, to me is very hit and miss which all other albums of his are definitely masterpiece. This definitely has a few gems but again imo this one is'nt on the same level of greatness as his other works. Anyways amen and hail Mr. Segall! The last handful of decades the world has been missing out on real music! How fortunate and lucky for the world has a great newer artist, someone we haven't had in too long!!

This was the first Ty Segall album I listened to. Me discovering this album for the first time 4 years ago is one of the most important things that has happened to me.

Sleeper was fine. Kinda mellow, maybe a nice, Sunday morning, having coffee on the porch record. Very Beatlesque which is fine, they were pretty good.

ty is my daddy

I'm a life long music fanatic/musician who turns 60 this year. I've seen hundreds of shows going back to 1969 but I must say that the post 2000 and especially post 2010 is some of the BEST I ever heard. I only started listening to Ty a little longer than a year ago and I'm floored. For the longest time the BJnstown Massacre were my faves. That was until I heard Ty's newest (Freedom's Goblin) and MANIPULATOR before that. This generation is as lucky as I was growing up in the 70's to have such high quality Indie music. Segall is a treasure when listened to thoroughly......no one off's...Every LP is a side to side complete must listen to. Thanks to Ty for keeping this old ass real interested! peace out ENJOY

I'm also in my 60th year but I've only been going to shows since '72. It's nice to know that Neil has someone to pass the torch to when he finally hangs it up. It's also nice to know I'll have someone to see live while I wait for Crazy Horse to hit the road again.

Blinding album, i think this is still his best to date, however the live performance of the tunes from emotional mugger on KEXP is sublime and is my favourite of his works, and the ty/wand version of feel at pickathon is 2nd to none.

In my opinion this is his most consistent album from beginning to end. Thats not to say that the others werent but like I said in my opinion the songwriting from beginning to end is just fucking great and doesnt have any track that doesnt fit perfectly with the rest.

Saw a lot of interviews with the dude, and he seemed like a nice personality.
Too bad he killed himself, which sort of makes me wonder whether such a deed doesn't render one's philosophy invalid.
I was thinking about trying the Infinite Jest, but the volume of that book's intimidating.

Well, he was medicated throughout his last 20 years. He suffered from depression, a little while before his death his medicine stopped working so they switched to another one that also didn't work, and then we know what happened.
You shouldn't be intimidated by it, it's quite a fun book to read, and the best thing is once you finish it, you'll want to read it again
